Bedside Crib and Travel Cot

Bedside cribs are a bassinet-style cot that fixes to the side of your bed. Some have an end that can be adjusted to allow easy access, and others have an incline that is perfect for reflux babies.

MFM tester Georgina said that the crib was easy to build, and the instructions were very simple. It was a fast construction. It also folds down to the size of a small bag and comes with a convenient bag for travel.

Easy to put together

They are small and easy to set up, so they can be set near your bed. They also tend to be lighter, which makes them more mobile. Georgina, who was one of MFM's home testers, said that the Maxi-Cosi Lora was "super easy to assemble with clear instructions, and zips that are easy to open." The crib can also function as a travel cot, and comes with a handy bag to carry it around on the move. It has multiple mesh openings for ventilation and its height-adjustable allows it to fit on any mattress.

Some cribs for bedside use an additional side panel that can be raised, allowing easy access to your baby without having to get out of bed. This is a great option for mothers who are breastfeeding, or those who wish to remain close to their child throughout the night but don't wish to take the risk of co-sleeping.

The majority of models have an integrated rocking feature. This can be extremely comforting for your baby and help them fall asleep. Some cribs offer a recline position that can be helpful if your child has reflux or colic. These should only be used under supervision, and a doctor or health professional should be consulted before trying this position.

Many cribs for bed come with an umbrella to protect your baby from noise and light. This can help calm them down. Some come with a storage compartment underneath, which is great to store extra blankets, nappies, and other items for your baby.

Some cribs let you lower the barrier but then lift it back up after you lift baby out. This is ideal for parents who are concerned about their child falling off their mattress.

The Luah, which won the Mother&Baby Awards for the Best Cot or Moses Basket in 2021, is designed to be attached to divans and beds, but requires longer straps (check your specifications to make sure your bed can be accommodated). It's a spacious design that has an opening side panel as well as a patented perforated base that creates an air cushion to increase air flow. There's an integrated setting for reflux and an swivel that can be 360 degrees to allow you to turn the crib to suit the preferred position of your baby.

If you're looking for something little smaller, the Tutti Bambini CoZee is another stylish choice with oak legs and clever fabric options to fit your decor. It's also extremely easy to assemble as Georgina who participated in our MFM tests was able to put it together quickly and didn't need to consult the instructions. It's also a great travel cot that folds flat and popping into a handy bag.

The Next2me Magic, which was shortlisted for the Best Cot, Crib or Moses Basket at the 2021 Mother&Baby Awards, is also somewhat larger, but is still relatively small and easy to put into your bed. Georgina also found it easy to put together although she thought the instructions could have been clearer about the zips.

Easy to clean

If you're considering travel cots and bedside cribs make sure they come with a mattress cover that can be machine-washed. This will allow you to keep it free of leaky nappies, baby sick and drips. It is also recommended to choose an item that can be easily disassembled, allowing you to clean and disinfect every nook and cranny.

This is important, as it's the best way to make sure that all germs and dirt have been cleared away. Make sure that the sides of the crib are securely attached to ensure that your baby won't fall down or get trapped.

You'll also need to ensure that the crib is easy to clean and that it's a good fit with your bed. This is especially crucial in the case of a co-sleeping bedside crib. They are designed to fit securely to the side of the bed for parents and allow parents to easily reach their infant throughout the night for feeding and comforting while ensuring the safety of separate sleeping surfaces.

They can also be used as a separate crib during the day. Most will feature a side panel which can be lowered, so you can be able to see and touch your baby. Some cribs allow you to keep the side panel down at night. This allows you to be close and convenient with your baby, while taking care to minimize the risks of sharing the bed. Some cribs can be converted into an oversized travel cot. large bedside crib have additional features like rocking, tilting, or converting into a larger baby cot.
