Bedside Cot Crib

Bedside cribs allow you to sleep in a safe environment with your baby without the danger of suffocation or overheating. Designed to attach to the side of your bed, they're beneficial for mothers of c-sections who are finding getting out of bed difficult.

Emily is an MFM home tester, found the bedside crib easy to assemble and liked the mesh windows that allow for airflow and better visibility for babies. It also folds flat and can be put into a an ideal travel bag.

Safety

A bedside cot crib is an innovative crib that is seamlessly connected to the parents bed to provide a comfortable way for parents to take care of their infant at night. The crib lets parents access their child easily so that they can feed or comfort them without leaving the bed, which is useful for new parents who suffer from sleep deprivation during those early years. It promotes healthy growth in the infant by providing an environment that is safe and comfortable.

A good quality bedside cot crib will have solid connections and an anti-slip design for the foot of the bed that reduces the chance of accidents that could potentially cause harm to your baby. They also meet safety standards such as BS EN 1130:2019, which helps to ensure your baby is safe and secure while they are asleep. You should also ensure the mattress included in your crib is firm rather than soft, and also look for any gaps that could increase your baby's danger of suffocation or getting trapped.

Also, you should avoid using duvets, pillows or baby bumpers in your child's crib unless they're designed specifically to be used in conjunction with a cot or a crib, as they can pose a serious hazard and may not be safe. You should also ensure that any toy your baby uses in the crib is securely attached and does not protrude out too far.

Ask other parents for their advice in case you are uncertain about specific pieces of equipment. Also, search for products that are new and meet current safety standards, not those that have been passed down or second-hand. If you're going to buy a crib that is used, be sure to examine it thoroughly for any damage and ensure all the parts are there before you buy it.

A bassinet is another option. It's similar to a crib, but is usually fixed to your bed. twin bedside cot does not have legs. They are ideal for babies, and are great for those recovering from the c-section. They keep your baby close to you all the time.

Size

Keep your baby close to you in the evening with the Sweet2Sleep bedside crib. This crib is a clever design with many features that will help you bond with your baby and soothe them. It is perfect for nighttime feedings, cuddles, and comfort check-ups. Simply lift or lower the side rails of the crib with just one hand to calm and comfort your infant or to provide secure monitoring of sleep. It also has a gentle rocking mode and an incline function to alleviate symptoms of reflux, like indigestion or tummy pain.

It has a huge storage space underneath the crib that is ideal for nappies or blankets. It's designed to work with divan beds (check the specifications for specific ones that may require straps that are longer) and you don't have to fret about the frame of your bed. One of our mum testers, Gulhan Arapoglu, said it's a good size and robust and easy to move from room to room. She also noted that it is a little heavier than other cribs for beds however this is due to the additional features such as a rocking mode or reflux incline.

One of the most important factors to look for in a crib is a firm mattress. Mattresses with soft mattresses can increase the chance of SIDS, which is Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. A firm mattress is also a healthier choice for your child as it's more comfortable and aids in healthy growth of the spine.

You can buy a crib mattress on its own however we recommend buying a high-end model to ensure that your little one gets the best rest possible. Make sure the mattress is in compliance with British safety standards and is of the correct size for your child.

If you're considering buying a bedside cot crib it's worth doing an extensive search to make sure you're getting the best price. Black Friday is a great opportunity to purchase these cribs at a discount. Remember that you should always buy cribs directly from the manufacturer to ensure that they are secure and meet the safety standards.

Style

A bedside crib is a baby bassinet that attaches to the sides of your bed. They're perfect to keep your baby close to you, so you can easily reach them for evening feedings or help them go back to sleep during nap times. They're also a godsend for mothers recovering from c-section births, who can struggle to get up to take care of their child during the night.

There are a wide variety of styles to pick from, but some features you should look out for include:

Can it be cleaned by machine or do you need an easy-to-clean mattress cover? What size is the mattress and can it be raised or lowered to fit your bed? It is easy to move and how heavy is it?

Jasmine who was a mom test subject, was pleased the crib's swivelling feature. This made it easier for her to reach into and out of it to take her baby. She also appreciated the size of the crib, saying it's not as large as a traditional crib, but it's larger than typical Moses baskets and is a comfortable crib for babies. It is also easy to assemble and folds flat for easy transportation. Some mums found it somewhat heavy, however, which may be an issue for those who have mobility issues.

Another option to think about is the Maxi-Cosi Lora, which won Gold at the 2021 Mother&Baby Awards in the Best Cot, Crib or Moses Basket category. The crib differs from others in that it doesn't have a drop down panel, but instead has an adjustable side you can lower to allow you to reach your baby. It's not as compact as other cribs for bed however it's quite mobile and comes with a travel bag that makes it easy to store.

Some cribs can be converted into a toddler bed or cot by using an expansion kit. This feature is useful for families who want to extend their baby's sleep space beyond the newborn stage. However, it is not always necessary.

Budget

The best cribs for your bed are ones that are placed next to your bed to let you watch your baby, change nappys at night, and feed your baby without having to get up from your bed. They'll usually have sides that fold or zip down easily, so you can reach over in the dark to grab them, and they should also be breathable to ensure comfort. Most will come with beds, which are ideal as you don't want it to be too hard or clumpy.

The price of more complicated models will be more expensive. Consider whether the crib was designed to fit your own bed or not. Certain cribs can only be fitted to a certain type of divan base. This could be a problem for you if you have a bed frame that is more unique.

The Next2me Magic crib that is popular with parents who have a divan is a great choice for those who already own one. It was shortlisted for the 2021 Mother&Baby Award in the category of Best Cot or Crib, or Moses Basket. Our mums who have tested it have given it the thumbs up, stating that it's well-made with high-quality mesh sides that you can see your baby's face through. It also comes with a handy storage shelf for blankets and nappies, and is relatively lightweight at just 10kg.

SnuzPod4 is a different option. It is available in a variety of colors, and our mothers enjoy it. They like the simplicity of it, and how it's sleek, yet it offers ample space for their baby to sleep comfortably, and they love the additional features, including incline options to help with reflux and an energizing rocking mechanism.

Both cribs are available for PS99 or less, which makes them more affordable than a Moses Basket if you're looking to cut costs on your initial investment. It is important to follow safe sleep guidance though, and check whether the crib you purchase conforms to the Lullaby Trust code for safety.
