Special features such as through-the-door dispensers, high-end ice machines, and customizable flex drawers make them stand out from the crowd.

GE Profile Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

Like its name implies, GE’s Profile series is aimed at people who want to incorporate cutting-edge technology into their kitchens. This refrigerator has it all, from the Keurig K cup coffee maker inside the door, to a clever dispenser of water. But these flourishes don't mask mediocre performance, especially in the refrigerator's freezer and an ineffective temperature-controlled drawer. Given that this fridge costs more, I'd expect better.


Other than that the fridge is a great option. It has a large freezer compartment which is uncommon for counter-depth French-door refrigerators. It also holds plenty of frozen food compared to other models.

Inside the fridge, there are 17 shelves and compartments. The fridge compartment is 18.5 cubic feet, which is standard for a fridge with a French door at this price. It also has an adequate-sized icemaker in the left door, though it isn't the largest I've seen.

You can alter the shelving in both compartments to create customized storage arrangement for the items you need to keep. The GE PYE22PYNFS's interior design is stylish, too. The LED lighting adds an appealing accent. The storage bins in the door come with a third shelf that can be folded down to store tall objects. The drawers come with temperature controls so you can set them for Beverage, Meat or Deli settings. The drawers are simple to open and close however I found the plastic's textured coatings a bit hard on my fingers.

The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator comes with all the features you would expect from a refrigerator in this price range. It has Wi-Fi, app support and GE's SmartHQ Software. The app, which is available for iOS and Android devices can let you control your refrigerator from anywhere in the world, and has a ton of customization options. It also sends you notifications when doors are left open, when your fridge or freezer needs to be defrosted and when it's time to change the filter.

It is nice if GE PYE22PYNFS offered Precise fill, an option available in a handful of GE refrigerators that allows users to set how many cups they want to disperse. It does offer a countdown feature on the fridge display to show how much water you have remaining, but that's not as effective as Precise Fill.

Bosch Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

The Bosch French-door Refrigerator is a striking piece. It's designed to appear like a seamless piece in your kitchen. The fridge uses fingerprint-resistant stainless steel, which is a great feature for busy households. It also comes with a veggie compartment that helps keep vegetables and fruits fresher longer, and two compressors to ensure maximum preservation of food. The ice maker is one of the top we've tested and produces pyramid-shaped Ice with low use of water. This refrigerator is the ideal choice for single household or kitchenettes that want a sleek design and top of the line food preservation.

This refrigerator was the highest-rated refrigerator in our Refrigerators test for several reasons. Its freezer temperatures remained constant at just above 0°F and never fluctuated more than a fraction - this is crucial to avoid the risk of a freezer burn. The other issue we have with the doors of this refrigerator. The handles that are sunken allow shorter people to open them from the bottom. However taller people have a hard time closing them without slamming. It would have been much better to have front-mounted handles.

The LG Counter-Depth MAX fridge is an excellent option for those looking to combine the aesthetics of a French-door refrigerator with more efficient design. Its capacity is superior for a counter-depth model, and it cools well and has a nice layout. It's also a little less than the top counter depth refrigerators that have an ice maker, which makes it a desirable choice.

If you're looking for a French door refrigerator that won't cost a fortune and isn't expensive, this Frigidaire is a solid option. That's a good performance, but it doesn't quite make it into the top ten in our rankings.

The exterior of the Frigidaire is made of grey-bodied stainless that has a "smudge resistant" finish. It does an excellent job of removing streaks and fingerprints, even compared to glossier stainless steel finishes on other appliances I've tried.
