Best Value Bean to Cup Coffee Machines

If you're looking for a hands-off, one-press latte that's fully customisable this is the machine for you. Check out our Beem Espresso Grind Profession review for more details.

You can test different blends instantly with its bean hoppers that can be swapped. Its profiles let you take a step back from where you left off. It's also less expensive than capsule machines and uses real beans instead of pre-ground beans.

1. Smeg BCC02

This sleek, compact, and striking machine, designed by the Milan-based firm Deep Design combines the brand's retro style with cutting edge technology. The machine is able to handle all the stages of the coffee-making process, from grinding beans to tamping into a puck and texturing milk to dispensing the correct amount.

The machine also has a stylish brushed aluminium front and is available in a choice of black, red or taupe, which means it'll easily fit into most kitchen designs. The machine is not without flaws however. Most reviewers found that it was expensive for a cup-to- bean maker (and isn't equipped with the milk pitcher).

There were also many glowing reviews of the quality of the coffee as well as the ease of using this machine. The digital display gives feedback and step-by-step instructions throughout the entire process of brewing that will help you make your drink perfect each time. It will even prompt you to alter the grind size if not exactly right. It's almost like having a personal barista at home (minus Harry Potter's cloak of invisibility and Elon Musk's rocket-building abilities).

This model is perfect for those who enjoy milky drinks. The steam wand can be adjusted upwards and downwards to fit a variety of drinking vessels, with the exception of Viking drinking horns. We were also amazed by the speed and efficiency at which the frothing was done. It makes a delicious, full-flavoured espresso with a great crema.

The BCC02 is a fantastic all-rounder that's quiet, efficient and provides excellent value for money, especially at its current price of PS499. Its only real flaw is that it does not provide the same level of customisation as other bean-to-cup machines we have tested. It's got a 15-bar pump, rather than the typical 19 bars, which isn't as good to make high-quality espressos. This is a great machine for those who like their coffee strong and dark. 2. Melitta Barista TS Smart

The Barista TS Smart comes with a variety of features that set it apart from the competition. Its most distinctive feature is that it can be controlled by your smartphone via the Melitta Connect app. This allows you to change settings and dispense different coffee recipes that are stored within the machine itself.

This makes the machine flexible and adaptable to suit your preferences. There are a variety of options to alter the intensity of your drinks, as well as different sizes of cups and even whether or not you want to add milk. The machine also has two airtight bean containers that automatically select different types of coffee. The machine will default to using standard espresso beans and cafe creme, which is a German variation of flat white or long black. However, you are able to select any beans you want. There's also a handy chute for pre-ground coffee in case you'd prefer to make your own (for example when that nagging dinner guest brings their own).

Users have also said they are impressed by the speed of the machine. It is faster than any other machine they've used. Another benefit is that the machine will warn you when one of its hoppers is nearly empty, so you do not get caught running out of your preferred drink.

The only thing that could be a disadvantage for certain individuals is the price. This machine is not cheap, costing nearly PS999. It's still cheaper than similar Jura machines with similar features.

The Barista TS Smart is backed up by an impressive warranty, which provides two years of protection. This is longer than the average one year warranty, which is a great indication of trust from the manufacturer. The machine comes with an cleaning tablet, and descaler. This makes it simple to maintain the machine. This is an excellent machine for those who are seeking a high-end and versatile bean to cup machine that is affordable.
