A Small Bedside Cot That Attaches to Your Adult Bed

If you're looking to keep baby as close as possible at night, without having to get out of the bed, a crib for bed is the perfect solution. The breathable fabric allows you to easily see your baby and they're incredibly easy to lower for those tired 3am feeds.

Some also double up as a moses basket too.

What is a bedside cot?

A bedside crib, also known as a bassinet or co-sleeper, is a small baby cot attached to your adult bed. This allows your baby to sleep right next to you in safety. bedside crib travel is a form of co-sleeping that is safe and doesn't increase the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) like bedsharing and can help you bond with your baby's new arrival.

The cots come with an end that can be adjusted to allow you to reach your baby easily at night to soothe and feed them. This is especially helpful for mothers recovering from a c section. Many of them are foldable or portable making them suitable to travel or as an interim solution for babies who aren't ready to transition into a crib that is large enough.

When you are looking for a bedside crib, look for a model that has a breathable mattress and a cover to shield your infant from staining. You may also want to buy baby-safe accessories such as the blanket or teether.

If you're looking for a more long-term alternative, some cribs are equipped with conversion kits that let you turn them into a cot or a toddler bed when the time comes. This will extend their life and make the transition easier. Some come with a removable section at the top that can be converted into an infant bed. Others can be used with an adult bed that is standard or a high-rise bed. This is a great option for families that are planning on frequent travel or switching rooms throughout the night. Be aware of the dimensions of your bedroom to ensure that you fit in the crib comfortably. Many cribs have a riser that can be used to create an incline for babies with reflux.

The Joie Roomie Glide

The Roomie Glide, a bedside crib manufactured by the English brand Joie is a wonderful addition to their range of high-quality products for babies. The co-sleeper was created to help parents connect and sleep side-by-side with their babies, without sharing a single bed. It is full of features that help make bonding between parent and baby safe, simple and enjoyable.

One of the most important features is a smooth, rocking motion that can be activated by the touch of the button. It can help soothe baby to sleep with a gentle beat that doesn't disrupt their natural sleep pattern. This is ideal for older babies and toddlers who are struggling to settle. It can aid in digestive issues such as reflux and colic.

The crib can be locked in place once the rocking is done to stop it moving and can also be secured on the bed's side by a strap and clip attachment. This makes the crib stable and secure, allowing you to sleep peacefully, without having to worry that your baby might roll off into the middle. The round shape of the cocoon features soft padding on the sides as well as double mesh windows on both ends. This allows airflow while ensuring your baby's safety.

The mattress included is comfortable and firm and comes with a washable cover. The crib is easy to assemble and disassemble with the lightweight aluminum frame that makes it extremely portable. The four lockable wheels are covered in rubber to ensure the crib won't leave marks on your floor and are easy to move around. It is easy to clean with fabric wipes and is simple to tote in a backpack, making it ideal for extended time away from home.

The TuttiBambini Air

Designed to be a safe crib for babies from birth to six months, this superior model features rocking bars and castors to allow for ease of movement. Its deluxe airflow mattress offers an incredibly comfortable sleeping surface, while ventilation panels ensure your baby is kept cool. There are 6 different height settings, including an incline option that can aid in reducing reflux and congestion.

Contrary to some cribs that are placed on the bed that can be difficult to clean due to their incessant stream of snot and dribble The Tutti Bambini CoZee Air has a wipe-clean liner and fabric that can be removed for machine-washing. Additionally, it comes with a top bar that can be easily lowered for nighttime feeds without needing to search for zips in the dark.

Anna found that the CoZee was a comfortable and safe sleep space for her newborn. She was pleased that it didn't move like other models so she didn't wake up at night while trying to soothe her baby to feed. She also loved that the side lowered down so she didn't have to reach out over her partner to pull the baby to feed her at night.

The CoZee is available in charcoal and oak and is a beautiful addition to the bedroom. It's more modern than other cribs we've tried and are typically utilitarian. It is also relatively light at 11kg, and comes with a carry case, so you can take it on holiday or even when you move house. The only additional items you'll require are a waterproof cover and a safety strap for co-sleeping. There are step-bystep instructions and pictures to assist you in putting it together as you open the box which makes it a one-person task if needed.

The Maxi-Cosi Lora

The Iora is an infant bassinet designed to make parents feel connected with their baby as they sleep. It can be adjusted up and down and can be moved through three slide positions to fit next to the parent's bed, or in the corner of the room so that baby is always close at hand. The mesh siding lets air flow through, and allows you to quickly see your baby. You can also put away extra pajamas or supplies in the large basket underneath.

Unlike some other smaller bedside cribs The Iora can be folded flat and comes with a travel bag so that it can be carried anywhere. Our mum testers were able to move it from room to room, and believed that it was a good size for a bedside cot, not too big or small. They also loved the large storage basket which is ideal for stowing nappies or bedding.

This is a great option for parents looking to co-sleep but do not want to share their beds or whose partners may be prone to mobility issues, such as back problems or arthritis. Our mom testers loved the ease with which they could access their child while in the Iora and that it included an optional reflux incline that helped to reduce gas.

Our mums are thrilled that the mattress adheres to NICE guidelines. These include placing the baby in a Moses basket or crib on its own, without blankets, toys and pillows. The mattress is also sturdy and comfortable for the baby and sheets are readily available. It's not as light as other cribs that are smaller, though and if you're looking for something lighter and easier to move around, look at other options on our list.
