A Small Bedside Cot That Attaches to Your Adult Bed

What is a bedside cot?

A bedside crib (also known as bassinet or co-sleeper) is a small infant cot that attaches to your adult bed, allowing your baby to sleep safely next to you. This is a form of safe co-sleeping that doesn't increase the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) like bedsharing and can help you build a bond with your newborn.

The cots come with a side which can be lowered so that you can reach your baby easily at night to soothe and feed them. It is easy to clean with cloths that wipe clean and is easy to carry in a travel bag making it perfect for long-term time away from home.

This premium model is designed to be a safe next-to-me-crib from birth to 6 months. It comes with bars with rocking to allow for easy mobility, as well as castors. The deluxe airflow mattresses provide an ideal sleeping surface while ventilation panels help keep your baby cool. There are 6 different height settings, including an incline option that can help with reflux and congestion.

Unlike some bedside cribs which can be a challenge to clean due to their incessant stream of snot and dribble The Tutti Bambini CoZee Air has a wipe-clean liner and fabric that can be removed to wash in the machine. It also comes with an upper bar that can be easily lowered to accommodate feedings at night without having to fiddle with zips.

Anna discovered that the CoZee could provide a safe, comfortable sleeping space for her infant. She was delighted the fact that it didn't roll like some other models, so it wasn't waking her at night while she was trying to comfort her baby for feedings. She also enjoyed that the side was lowered so she didn't have to reach out over her partner to lift the baby for feedings at night.

The CoZee is available in oak or charcoal and is a chic option for any bedroom. It's more stylish than other cribs we've tried and are typically utilitarian. It's also fairly light at just 11kg, and comes with a carrying case which allows you to take it on vacation or if you're moving home. The only additional items you'll need to buy are a fitted waterproof sheet and a safety strap for co-sleeping. The instructions and illustrations are easy to follow when you first open the box.

The Maxi-Cosi lora

The Iora is a bassinet designed for infants designed to help parents feel more connected to their infant while they sleep. It adjusts up and down and moves through three slide positions to be placed next to the bed of the parent, or in the corner of the room, so that the baby is always within arm's reach. The mesh siding allows air to flow through and allows you to see your baby quickly. And you can store more pajamas and other supplies in the large storage basket beneath.

The Iora is a bedside crib that is smaller and folds flat. bedside cot newborn comes with a travel case which allows it to be taken anywhere. Our mum testers were able to move it from room to room and felt it was a great size for a small bedside cot that was not too big or too small. They also appreciated the large storage basket, that is ideal for storing nappies or bedding.

This is a great option for parents looking to co-sleep, but don't want to share their own beds, or whose partners might be suffering from mobility issues, such as back problems or arthritis. Our mom testers love the convenience of being able to access their child in the Iora, and that it comes with an option to tilt the bed upwards to aid in reducing gas.

Our moms love that it follows NICE guidelines. These include placing the infant in the Moses basket or crib on its own, without toys, blankets and pillows. The mattress is also a good firm and comfortable for the baby, and sheets are easy to find. It isn't as light as the other smaller bedside cribs, though and if you're looking for something lighter and more portable, consider one of the other options in our list.
