A robot vacuum can be a powerful tool to keep your home clean of pet hair, dirt and other dust particles that can cause allergic reactions. But, best robot cleaner require regular maintenance in order to work at their best.

Even the most expensive models could be stuck under thresholds for doors, furniture or get tangled up in shoelaces and cords. Take note of these tips to keep your robot vacuum in good shape:

Object Detection

A set of sensors to detect obstacles is crucial for robots. They aren't able to get around corners or climb stairs Therefore, they must be able to detect them. Some have an built-in alarm that sounds an alarm when it's time to clean the filter or dust bin. Some of these apps let you control other functions like changing the suction or cleaning carpets, floors, or walls with different settings.

The best robots can recognize a wide range of things, including fine dust particles, orzo pasta, metal screws, dog hair tangled and pet hair. They can also pick up most messes however, they are not as fast as a vacuum cleaner.

If you regularly look for and remove stuck-on or tangled hair clean the dust bin following each cleaning session and wipe down any cameras or sensors (and recharge ports, if applicable) between cleanings, your robot should last for many years. Request instructions from your manufacturer on how to clean the rotating brushes. You can also replace any parts that require replacement. Some manufacturers have even heard stories from people who have used the same model for over 10 years!

Mapping

It is important that your robot vacuum cleaner is aware of the exact location it will avoid hitting things or falling down the stairs. This is why mapping technology in robot vacuum cleaners is an important element of engineering.

Most basic robot vacuums simply start cleaning as soon as they're turned on, but more advanced models may track the room or the entire home prior to starting to clean. It is common to view the map within an accompanying app, and use it to guide your robot to clean more efficiently.

It managed to clear the entire floor of our test home in about an hour, and avoided all of the obstacles, and didn't leave much dirt and dust in corners. Although its mops did not pick up as much water-based debris as we would like but they still did a great job in general. The app is user-friendly and easy to use, and it's compatible with Alexa and Google Assistant for hands-free control. You can also create custom maps and establish no-go zones with the app.
