Narwal Freo X Ultra

The Freo X Ultra, a highly-rated and functional Gen 4 robotic vacuum and mop is a high-quality machine. The $1,400 list price is a bit steep, but you will find it on sale often enough to make the purchase appealing. The unit is stunning and the base takes up very little room in a corner.

The design of this robot is able to address a few problems that we've had with other robotic mop and vacuum models, for example, the brushes becoming entangled in hair, or the brush being unable to reach floors with no furniture. The sweeping capabilities are impressive on carpets as well as bare flooring. The vacuum and mop have a high level debris pickup and the mop can quickly saturate bare flooring.

The mops also have a smart system to clean along the edges of walls and around furniture. The robot avoids most bulkier obstacles such as food bowls, toys, backpacks, and shoes without any difficulty. It is able to get tangled or stuck with smaller, less hefty objects like shoelaces and USB cable, and pen.

We used this robot to vacuum and mop a variety of pile rugs, FLOR carpet tiles, and hardwood floors within a large, open house floor plan. It cleaned and mopped the 90 square meters in 170 minutes using FREO Mind enabled. self vacuum is about average for Gen 4 robots.

Several features distinguish this robot from other models in its class. Freo X Ultra is equipped with numerous enhancements in terms of sensors, software and hardware that keep it ahead of its class. It has been declared to have an autonomy of 3.5 hours for environments of up to 260 square meters.

You can alter a variety of functions with the Freo app, such as how frequently the robot is back to the base station, its mopping frequency and power (silent or smart) and mopping humidity. The app can also detect areas that are heavily soiled and create an efficient cleaning route, as well as dispensing detergent or raising the pads on carpet.

Other noteworthy features include a simple-to-read display on the robot's underside and a dock door that is convenient to open. The Freo X Ultra is the ideal vacuum and mop for homeowners and apartment owners who want to make a difference in their chores, while keeping their homes clean and tidy.

Miele Scout RX3

Miele is no slouches in the world of robotic vacuuming and is renowned for quality and innovativeness. The new Miele robot is designed to take that to the next level by incorporating smart features and top-notch cleaning performance.

The RX3 features a dual-suction technology, intelligent mapping with 3D mapping as well as a camera which transmits a real-time image to your smartphone. Its powerful four-stage cleaning system provides excellent dust removal on hard and carpet floors, while its easy-to-use side brushes that swing out and dual suction channels clean in corners. The 8.5 cm height means it can get under low furniture, while front cameras and infrared sensors assist it navigate obstacles and thresholds with ease.

In our test of how it cleaned baking soda from baseboards and in corners the Scout RX3 was impressive. Its suction was less powerful than the other robots, however it was still very quiet and moved quickly. It didn't mop however, and its removable cleaning pads were fiddly to attach and couldn't cope with dried-on dirt.

The app doesn't have advanced features like multiple cleaning modes or automated scheduling. It is compatible with Alexa however its voice commands don't seem to be very precise or responsive. It's also a bit sporadic when it comes back to the charging station after an exercise. Other robots can follow a wall or trace a previous route however the RX3 bumbles around until it finally gives up.

Another issue we encountered was with its intelligent features, specifically the mapping function and the digital keep-out zones. It was great at keeping our shoes and furniture legs away, but it was easily hung up on cables, socks, and rugs. We decided not to include the Scout RX3 in our Best Buy list. The Scout RX3 offers a good price and impressive performance. It's worth a look as an alternative to traditional uprights.
