Buy Category B1 Driving License

The types of vehicles you are able to drive are identified by the codes on the back of your driving licence. These codes also display your rights and limitations.

The Category B1 on certain licenses allows you to drive a vehicle with the maximum weight of 8,250kg, and towing trailers up 750kg MAM.

Cost-effective transportation

The current licence style, launched in 2011, is a laminated plastic card like European driving licence cards in terms of size and appearance. The card has the driver's name, date of birth, driving history, categories allowed, place/date issued and a photograph. It is fully compliant with the Vienna Convention on Road Traffic and replaces the older booklet-style and credit-card style licences.

The owner of a B license must pass both the theory based test as well as the practical driving test to get their licence. The licence is divided into two pages: the first page contains the essential details, including the driving licence number authorizations and restrictions and the validity period. The second page is comprised of a barcode and a photograph, along with the driver's information as well as blood group and fingerprint impression. The B1 licence also enables the driver to drive motor tricycles with an output of more than 15kW if they are older than 21. However, you won't be able to drive lorries or buses with this licence. It is recommended that you undergo training prior to purchasing a Category B1 license since it isn't an easy task to learn to drive.

Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to purchase a driving licence of category B1. You must pass a computerised theory test and fill out a valid application form to obtain a driving license. You must also provide the passport-style color photo as well as proof of address, PPSN, and an eyesight report if necessary. The applicant is not allowed to drive on motorways by themselves. They must display red L plates on their vehicle, or on a tabard specifically for motorcycle drivers. A category B Swiss driving licence allows you to drive cars with the maximum authorised mass (MAM) of up to 3,500 kg. It also permits you to tow a trailer up to 750 kg, provided that the weight of the trailer and the trailer do not exceed your vehicle's MAM.
