The Silver Cross Slumber Bedside Crib Travel Cot

This bedside crib, designed for divan beds is easy to assemble. The instructions can be a bit difficult to follow, especially since there's a sequence that the pieces have to be inserted, but MFM users found it extremely easy once they got used to it.

It is also able to fold extremely quickly, compactly and can be tucked away in its own travel bag.

Easy to assemble

If you're looking for a travel crib that is easy to install and move around take a look at the Silver Cross Slumber. It's designed to serve as an ideal bedside crib and keeps your baby close at all times of the night long and letting you feed them without having to get out of bed. It is also lightweight and compact, making it perfect for travel.

cots4tots is simple to put together using poles that you bend into position and a sheet that pops over the mattress. Once it's up and you're ready to put your baby in. Emily is a mother tester, says that it took her two attempts to master the assembly, but once she was able to master it, it was easy. Her daughter was able to sleep well in it too.

It comes with a newborn bassinet and a mattress that folds, making it suitable for babies from the moment of birth. It comes with a side zip so you can lay next to your baby and observe them sleeping. Then, roll them into the crib for safety and zip it up. This is an excellent option when you're used to sleeping with your baby and want to continue this as long as you can.


The crib can be folded down and stored in its own bag when you're ready to pack. This is a great option for traveling. It's also a good choice when you're planning on moving house or have guests staying at your home for a while.

MFM mother home tester Jasmine liked how the bedside crib was in her bedroom and how well it stood up to use. She also was awed by its size, stating that it was bigger than the size of a Moses basket, but not so large that it was oversized. She was able to find bedding for and that the mattress was of a good quality, in contrast to other mattresses she's seen which feel flimsy or thin.

It's important to keep in mind that a crib for bed isn't a substitute for a proper baby swaddle or swaddle, as it doesn't ensure the safety of your baby during sleep. It's essential to follow the Back To Sleep campaign guidelines that state that your baby should sleep on their back in a crib or cot. It is essential to take away all pillows, blankets and duvets that might affect your baby's breathing.

Easy to clean

Easy to store

The crib is simple to clean and put away. The sides fold in and the legs collapse into a small, flat bag that can easily fit into your car boot or suitcase, making it ideal for day trips, weekend breaks and staying over with friends and family. The fabric is strong and machine washable and the mattress is good to the touch. However the mattress is shallower than most and our mom test subject Kathryn found it quite low to the ground, which meant she had to bend her knees to pick up her child to go to bed.

It's a bit heavier than other travel cots we've test, but it's quite lightweight and compact. It's easy to set up and the four mesh sides are great for visibility and airflow. It has a music feature, a nightlight, and a changing station. However, our mom test participant Nicola was of the opinion that her older son Olly did not like these features.

In addition to the additional accessories, this cot is fairly simple and basic in design, but still one of the best available for its weight and ease of use. It is suitable for babies and easily converts to an infant travel cot and playpen, with an opening side to make it easier to access. It comes with a carrybag which makes it easy to transport and store when not in use.

The majority (but not all) airlines allow you to use a portable crib for free and it's worth taking into consideration your needs when browsing choices. Some of the smaller travel cots can be folded down so small that they can even fit in luggage which is ideal when traveling on air. Some are bigger and will require transport as checked baggage Be sure to check airline rules and regulations before buying a travel crib. Aside from this, it's important to consider the frequency you'll use the travel cot in order to determine its size, function and weight.
