French Door Refrigerator With Ice Maker Review Combining form and functionality, French-door refrigerators have stylish double doors that open to an expansive fridge on top and freezer drawer below. These refrigerators stand out due to their special features, such as door-to-door dispensers and more expensive ice makers. We contacted Ladina Schopf - interior designer, architect and founder of LS Projects - for her advice on how to choose the right one. They considered storage capacity, layout and energy efficiency among other factors. GE Profile Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator Like its name implies, the GE Profile series is aimed at those who wish to integrate cutting-edge features in their kitchens. This fridge has them all, from a Keurig K cup coffee maker inside the door, to a clever dispenser of water. But these flourishes don't mask mediocre performance, especially in the refrigerator's freezer and an ineffective temperature-controlled drawer. This refrigerator is costly, so I expected better. Other than that, this fridge is a fantastic choice. It has a large freezer compartment, which is quite uncommon in counter-depth French door refrigerators. Furthermore, it holds a fair amount of frozen foods as compared to similar models. The fridge has 17 shelves and compartments. The fridge compartment offers 18.5 cubic feet of space, which is about the same as a French door fridge that costs this much. It also has a decent sized ice maker packed into the left door, though it's not the largest I've seen. You can adjust the shelves in both compartments to create a a custom storage solution. The interior design of the GE PYE22PYNFS is stylish, too. Its LED lighting is a nice feature and the storage bins feature a third shelf that can fold down so that you can store large items. The drawers have temperature controls so you can set them for Meat, Beverage, or Deli settings. They're easy to open and close, although I found their textured plastic coatings to be a little hard on the fingers. The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator comes with all the features you would expect from a refrigerator in this price range. This includes Wi-Fi, app support and GE's SmartHQ Software. The app, available for iOS and Android devices can let you control your fridge from anywhere in the world, and has numerous options for customization. It will also send notifications when the door is unlocked as well as when the freezer or fridge must be defrosted and when the filter has to be changed. It is nice if the GE PYE22PYNFS had Precise Fill it's an option in other GE fridges that allows you to preset how many cups of water you'd like to dispense at once. The fridge displays a countdown to display how much water is left but it's not as helpful as Precise Fill. Bosch Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator It is designed to look like a seamless part of your kitchen Bosch's French door refrigerator is an eye-catching piece. french door fridge freezer uses fingerprint-resistant stainless steel, which is a great feature for busy households. It also has a vegetable compartment that keeps vegetables and fruits fresher for longer, and two compressors for preserving food items. The Ice maker we tested is one of the most efficient and makes pyramid shaped ice using minimal water. This fridge is perfect for a single family or a kitchenette with an attractive design and top of the highest quality food preservation. This refrigerator was the highest-rated refrigerator in our Refrigerators Test for various reasons. Its freezer temperatures held firm at just above 0 degrees Fahrenheit and never fluctuating more than a fraction of one degree. This is crucial to preventing freezing burn. The fridge section of the fridge also did well. It reached the initial temperature set within an hour and remained at the temperature throughout our tests. Bosch is a household name known for its high-end appliances. It's therefore no surprise that Bosch counter depth refrigerator is one of them. Bosch counter depth fridge can be connected to your home Wi Fi and Bosch's platform Home Connect. This app allows you to monitor and control your refrigerator remotely on your tablet or smartphone. The fridge is expensive, but it comes with excellent features and functionality for the cost. While the fridge is an amazing piece of equipment however, it is important to understand the limitations. It has a limited shelf space, which means you'll have to think creatively when storing tall objects. The shelves are also not impervious to spills and could easily be stained or damaged by sharp items. The trays can be easily removed from the fridge. However, they should be cleaned frequently to stop the growth of mold. If you're thinking of buying this refrigerator, make sure to review our opinions on the French Door GE Appliances Refrigerator as well as the Bosch Bottom Freezer Refrigerator. LG Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator The LG LRFLC2706S counter-depth refrigerator is a great choice for those who need lots of space within the space of a compact frame. It has a sleek, fingerprint-resistant stainless-steel finish and features thick handles that make them comfortable to grip. Inside, the fridge features the standard French-door layout, with gallon-sized door bins at each door, two rows of spill-capture shelves and a set of more spacious drawers. The top shelf on the right can be folded down to give taller items more space. There's also a full-width storage drawer for products from the deli and an inside water dispenser. This refrigerator has a freezer with an ice maker making it simple to transfer frozen ice as needed. The freezer also comes with innovative design features like sliding drawers that help you sort your things. It also has a large bin that can accommodate plenty of frozen food and an additional storage bin for ice. Another great feature of this refrigerator is its Smart InstaView panel. It lets you manage the refrigerator's temperature as well as lighting from your smartphone. It's a nice way to monitor and manage your refrigerator, particularly if you're away from home. Although the Smart InstaView is a neat feature, it doesn't enhance the overall performance of the refrigerator. In fact, it took longer to defrost and chill foods in this refrigerator as compared to other fridges we test. This could be due to its bigger capacity. The doors pose a problem with this refrigerator. The sunken handles let shorter people open them from the bottom. However taller people will have a difficult time closing them without slamming. It would have been better if they came with a front-mounted handle. The LG Counter-Depth MAX is a ideal choice for those who want to combine the advantages of a French-door refrigerator's aesthetics with an efficient layout. Its capacity is superior to counter-depth models, and it cools evenly. It's also a little less than the most expensive counter depth refrigerators that have an icemaker, which makes it a great option. Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator This Frigidaire French door refrigerator is a great choice when you're looking for a French door refrigerator that doesn't cost a lot of budget. It has a simple design that isn't as striking in appearance as other models but it does have enough features to make it a good pick. Its most significant feature, the temperature adjustable drawer, helps to keep food items such as vegetables and meat fresher for longer. It also comes with a huge water and ice maker dispenser. Another feature that is worth mentioning is the "Chill Drawer" that sits above the two crisper bins. This drawer lets you redirect some of the fridge's cooling power directly to this area, which means you can keep food items that need extra attention. This feature can be adjusted by using a slider located outside the drawer. You can also use this to set a general cooling setting for the whole fridge, though I've found that adjusting the general settings tends have a better effect than specific ones. In my experiments, I noticed that the temperatures in the refrigerator were fairly consistent across different parts of the refrigerator. The temperatures in the top and bottom of the fridge didn't vary very far from 38 degrees, and even the middle of the fridge was within a degree of 36. This is a solid performance, but it doesn't quite make it to the top of our ratings. This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. This fridge can be paired with a smart thermostat to obtain more precise readings of the internal temperature of your fridge. The exterior of the Frigidaire is made of grey-bodied stainless with a "smudge proof" finish. It is capable of preventing streaks and fingerprints from appearing, even compared to glossy stainless steel finishes on other appliances I've tested.
