Top Rated Robot Vacuums

A robot vacuum will keep floors clean enough to decrease the frequency you'll need to manually vacuum. Pick a robot vacuum that has good navigation, is able to clean stairs and corners and has an enormous bin that will need to be cleaned out every now and then.

There are models that can mop and charge themselves This is an advantage important for families with pets or children. The top performers in our tests have decent obstacle avoidance.

1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The i3+ EVO is similar to its sibling the i3 EVO. They differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. This makes the i3+ a great option for those looking for an automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but don't mind having to empty their dust bin manually as it gets full.

Both robots are adept in removing dirt and dust particles on carpets and hard floors and are able to maneuver around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home to aid the i3+ in its navigation and clean up efficiently. The i3+ does not have obstacle avoidance capabilities like the i7+ or any other top-rated robots we test. It could get stuck on power cords and socks and have trouble moving between surfaces, such as rug and hardwood.

iRobot suggests that you clean up the area where the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes putting away any toys or clutter it may encounter. It is also recommended to keep the dustbin and filter free of dirt to prevent them from becoming clogged. If the i3+ EVO's internal bin is full or its battery is low it goes back to its docking station and automatically empties its dirt into the station's external dustbin and then resumes cleaning where it started. Battery life is about an hour and a half of continuous usage. It takes about three hours to charge.

2. IRobot Roomba i7+

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the most powerful model of the flagship line from iRobot and is equipped with the most recent features. It is self-charging and self-navigating. But the most important feature is the self-emptying bin. This removes the need for routine maintenance.

The Roomba i7+ can keep up to 10 floor plans and their names using Imprint Smart Mapping, a system that allows it to identify rooms to clean them more efficiently. It also works with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and it can control your robot via the app or voice.

The i7+ is quicker and more maneuverable in our tests compared to the eufy RoboVac G30. It also removed large pet hair pieces from any surface, including carpeting. Its biggest advantage over the eufy, though the dust bin is self-emptying that eliminates a major cause of maintenance and reduces the cost of maintenance.

We were also amazed by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services, which we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning sessions and move around the room and sweep a specific space. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. Once connected, to speak commands to the i7+ for example "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and evaluating the performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is a sports car in a sea of cordless vacuums that feel like minivans and buses. It is powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in the majority of homes, yet it is also small enough to fit on the bookcase or coffee table.

The V10 is powered by seven cells of energy-dense Lithium-ion batteries that can provide power that is not fading for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filter system traps allergens and releases cleaner air back into your home. The specialized head uses rigid nylon bristles that penetrate deep into carpets, and then pick up large dust or crumbs. It comes with three suction modes to suit the task that is being completed. It quickly converts from floor vac to handheld vacuum and back.

The model comes with an attached dock that charges the Dyson to 100% within 3.5 hours. It also offers easy access to 2 attachments and the Wand. This is a significant improvement over the older Dysons, which require a lengthy charge and are a pain to store.

The biggest issue with the V10 is its limited run time. The claims of its marketing that it can provide up to 60 minutes of run time are misleading as CR's tests have shown. This is a typical, not an exceptional, time to run an electric cordless vacuum powered by batteries. This is still enough to clean most of a typical-sized home but not long enough to get every single area (though an additional run-through often does the trick). However, this model doesn't have its advantages: It's lighter and mobile than the older cordless Dysons and its vacuuming performance is noticeably better on carpets with low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694"

The 694 is a basic robotic vacuum that's a great choice for those who don't have a lot of money to spend on the latest model of robot. It's capable of sucking up all debris types and sizes during our tests, and it often passes over the same areas many times to get a really thorough clean. Its flat front end helps it to reach into corners and along the edges of walls and walls, which is a nice feature.

Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate your home, but it's not equipped with the mapping capabilities of more advanced models like our top choices and the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. It is prone to getting stuck on phone cords or low furniture and often runs out of power before returning to its base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways over the Roomba 694, as it has less parts that require regular cleaning, is outfitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtering system, incurs lower costs for recurring expenses and is more sophisticated in its automation capabilities and can better move itself. It also has a larger dustbin and is charged faster.

The RoboVac X8 is a slick RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 in most purposes, as it has a better battery life, the ability to change its suction power mode manually and has physical boundary strips, and can be controlled by your smartphone's voice assistant. It is also more durable, has a more powerful motor, and performs notably better on bare floors and carpets with a low pile, as well as providing a greater variety of automation features.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a household name in the field of home electronics. It's not surprising, then, that they are also among the top producers of robot vac uums and mop. Their Jet Bot AI+ is loaded with cutting-edge onboard intelligence technology to aid in navigation and obstacle avoidance.

The app offers a variety of options to customize your robotic cleaner, such as virtual barriers mopping water levels, behavior customization, docking frequency settings, and much more. The app is simple to navigate and use, just like other Samsung devices.

In our tests during our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors. It removed 86% of dog hair (on carpet). It was not as successful in avoiding taller objects like socks or cords. This was disappointing. It's also more expensive than other models we've tested and this could be a deal breaker for some shoppers.

The smart vacuum has an onboard camera that you can access through the app. You can also set up a live streaming from the robot's cleaning station. This feature allows you to keep track of your pets or children when you're away from home. The filter and the dust bin can be washed for quick, easy cleanup. The Jet Bot AI+ also comes with a clean station that's self-emptying to keep the robot's trash bin clean and optimizes suction power for each cleaning.

6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum

In contrast to other robotic vacuums that are specifically designed for hard floors and carpets, Black and Decker robots are specifically designed for hard floors. They feature an extra-wide cleaning path and an extra-large dustbin that holds 2X more debris than competitors to keep the area free of debris for the longest period of time. Additionally, they come with two side sweepers to clean around edges and corners. The POWERSERIES Extreme model comes with AutoSense technology, which can tell if it's picking up dirt on surfaces or embedded dirt and automatically adjusts its power level. It also comes with a smart app that lets you view the virtual map, and control functions and schedules. Additionally, you can track the status of the vacuum's battery and send it back to its dock to charge at the touch of the button. The app also lets you to personalize the LED lights on top of the vacuum with different colors, so you can easily tell which areas it's focused on or where it's got stuck.

The app makes it possible to steer the robot manually when needed. For example my living room rug has a darkly colored border that has a tendency to make it difficult for other robots I've tried. However, the HRV 425BL kept moving across the border, but it didn't register it as an incline. Also, the ability to program a weekly cleaning schedule is a wonderful time-saving benefit.
