Path of Exile Item Upgrades Item upgrades are a common and crucial method to enhance the performance of many items in Path of Exile. They can be a good source of extra damage and more AD or even more attachments. Rare-grade equipment is often superior to upgraded Common or Magic equipment due to their high demands. Armor Armor upgrades are a type of upgrade that can be used on armor and weapon items. upgrade item boost the effectiveness of the item they are attached to. Armor upgrades can be found in the world of the game and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at any bonfire. They can also be salvaged using a professional or higher salvage kit to recover upgrade components from items. The level of an armor's or weapon's upgrade determines the amount of damage it will take on. A piece of armor upgraded to maximum upgrade level will boost its ability to absorb damage. However, it's important keep in mind that this will increase its weight, causing it to weigh more than before. There are a few different kinds of armor upgrades that are that are available in the game and they all have distinct effects. Certain upgrades give armor an additional number of health points while others make it lighter and more powerful. The kind of armor upgrade an item can receive will be identified by the name of the upgrade as indicated in the table below. Some upgrades also feature magic or a mix of technology and magic, which is indicated by the "Magic" or "Hybrid" entry in the table below. Some upgrades also require a charge to use, and are identified by an "Charges" entry in the table below. item upgrade are either continuously updated or never expire, depending on the upgrade. Iron Ore is the cheapest way to improve your armor. You can find it by exploring and looting small treasure chests. Titanium is more expensive but it can be obtained from the smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, like the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to higher level armor pieces. These upgrades can give players a significant increases in stats and are worth the cost. Upgrading a piece of armor to the highest upgrade level will greatly boost its defense but the wearer must be aware that putting on weight can drastically decrease its speed and agility. It is not recommended to upgrade armor past +9. The added defense generally isn't worth the weight and power cost of the upgrades. Weapons Weapon upgrades give players to enhance certain aspects of their weapon. Upgrades can boost the accuracy of a rifle, or the damage caused by shotgun shells. Certain firearms have enhancements to enhance their intrinsic capabilities. Frictionless materials (improves stability, and reduces the risk of overheating), and Kinetic coils (increases the projectile's acceleration for greater damage) are two examples. The majority of weapon upgrades require a whetblade. It's one of three Power Dices and a different amount Minerals and Erons. These can be obtained by completing Side Quests, killing a certain amount of monsters or bosses, or from the Weapon Upgrade NPC located in Central Flarine. Upgrading a Weapon, Equipment Set piece, or Whetblade requires visiting the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine and paying her an upgrade cost of a set number of Bars. The higher the upgrade level, the more bars are required to complete it. If you have multiple upgrade materials the cost of upgrading will be lower. In Chapter 2: Season 5 the way you upgrade your weapon and sets has changed a bit. Prior to Chapter 2: Season 5 you could upgrade your weapon or equipment by paying a certain number of Bars. You could do this until your weapon or equipment reached its maximum upgrade level, at which point the upgrades would reset. You can still do this, however, the process is high on RNG and low on agency. Instead, you're better off going to stores and buying gear that has low upgrade levels but excellent base scores and stat distributions. They will also be able to give you the most prestigious perks and blessings. To improve their skills faster, most players will prioritize upgrading their weapons. Players should also upgrade the weapons that their teammates use to make them stronger. Shepard, for example, should upgrade the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R. This will make the weapon more useful when used by biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali. Jewels Jewels are utilized in the sockets of armor and weapons, increasing the stats of a weapon and providing additional effects. They can be created through an process known as jewelry crafting, in which you combine a gemstone and a number of specific ingredients at a table for jewelry. The higher the quality of the gem, the greater the secondary effect. These reagents can be obtained around the world from Treasure Goblins, World Bosses and sometimes by salvaging Legendary equipment. You can also purchase them from The Jeweler in exchange for gold and Scattered Prisms. The quality of a gem can be improved by the Jeweler in stages that vary from Crude to Royal. The boosts to stats will differ depending on the level the jewel is at when it's inserted into jewelry, weapons, or equipment. All kinds of jewels can be made at the Jeweler and Jeweler's Workshop, with the exception of the rare and legendary jewels which require you to be at a sufficient level to qualify for the privilege of having them. Jewels can be substituted with another jewel without destroying the original. You can only replace the jewel once in an item of equipment. Using more jewels in the movement can make it feel more comfortable and is typically used to enhance the aesthetics of the movement. Jewels also enhance performance and make an outer layer that is more durable than metal so that repeated friction from pivots does not damage them. In addition to the upgrades mentioned above, the player can also get glyphs for their weapons and shields from a Glyphmaster. These glyphs give a slight boost in power and can be swapped, but they are not guaranteed to appear as loot. Glyphs are upgradeable, as jewelry, by visiting the Jeweler for gold and Scattered Crystal. Glyphs can also be removed and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components, such as traits or aegis cannot be exchanged, and can only be retrieved by using an Upgrade extractor, or salvaging with Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage tool. Trinkets Trinkets are a great way to provide your hero with many small, but valuable, advantages. They can be obtained in the areas of starting as loot or personal story rewards from vendors, or by performing road interactions. They can also be found on the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers. The first trinket a player will unlock is the cloak. It grants a small, but useful bonus in speed of movement and evasion. The player can then collect rings, amulets and necklaces, in a similar way similar to how they obtained weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment comes with an upgrade slot that is either universal or jewel. Universal upgrades offer smaller bonuses and can be put into any kind of equipment while jewelry cannot be changed or upgraded, and only works with certain types of trinkets. These trinkets also grant additional bonuses and abilities that are active when the hero is not fighting. This allows the hero to be more effective while inactive, and can also help fill in the void of a solid team or the absence of any slots from the talent tree that normally are filled with the hero's ideal statistics. As a general rule, trinket upgrades should prioritize BiS (Best in Slot) items that you will not replace soon. Also, consider items that have desirable statistics aren't as important as the iLevel for the item to be upgraded. This is especially true when an item has multiple stats that you wish to upgrade, as it's often better to upgrade a single important stat rather than two sub-optimal ones. In the beginning of the game players in the jungle are likely to upgrade their yellow trinket to a red, while top and middle players typically choose either a pink or green ward (depending on the matchup). These choices will have a significant impact on the hero's ability to control his map. In addition to the items mentioned above, players can also discover a variety of other items in the form of awards and trophies. These can be earned by completing certain milestones in the story. For instance, completing a chapter’s main quest or beating an opponent. You can view them by clicking on the achievement in the reward section of the hero's menu.
