The exam for the Bloodborne Pathogens course consists of 10 short, true or incorrect questions. SCTPP

The Safety Certification for Transportation Project Professionals (SCTPP) is an exam that demonstrates professional core competencies needed to identify, mitigate and correct common hazards on transportation projects and avoid incidents that could result in deaths or injuries. It is available at Pearson VUE test centers throughout the U.S. The ARTBA Transportation Development Foundation engaged an internationally-recognized consulting firm specializing in helping industries and government agencies develop effective, fair, valid, reliable and legally defensible assessment and evaluation services to work with industry safety leaders on this program.

SCTPP was launched by top industry executives and safety advocates via the ARTBA Foundation to significantly reduce--and ideally eliminate the nearly 50,000 fatalities of workers and injuries that occur each year in and around U.S. transportation infrastructure construction projects. It was designed for construction workers, supervisors and foremen as well designers, planners, operators of equipment, suppliers, manufacturers and owners.


The SCTPP test is an 2.5-hour long test that includes 120 multiple choice questions. These questions focus on assessing, creating and implementing safety programs for projects in identifying risks and reducing them, directing personnel on project sites, developing an investigation plan, preparing accident or incident report, and conducting training sessions. Those who succeed in passing the SCTPP will earn professional certification, which is valid for three years. Recertification is required to demonstrate documented, ongoing learning and retesting.

To be eligible to participate in the SCTPP program applicants must have a bachelor's degree in construction or engineering and have two years experience* in transportation construction projects. This could include work as an operator, laborer or foreperson, as well as superintendent. It could also be gained through internships. The applicant must also take an OSHA 30 or 510 training. SCTPP pays for the weighted-average tuition at a school that participates in the program or the tuition actually charged or the lesser amount, whichever is less. However, SCTPP does not cover dormitory expenses, books or course-specific fees, meal plans orientation, laundry, parking fees, uniforms or drop/add fees.
