UPVC Replacement Door Handles

As time passes, the handles on your doors will wear down and will require replacement. When doing this it is essential that the new handles conform to the exact dimensions of the previous handle.

The top screw's position as well as the lever and keyhole size are the three measurements you need to determine. Use the size guide to help you.

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever door handle is a modern handle that can be installed on new or replacement doors. This kind of door handle is available in a variety of styles & finishes. This handle is offered by a number of manufacturers including Avocet ERA Fullex Hoppe Mila Millenco Yale.

Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle

The uPVC/Composite door handles are made of sturdy materials and are perfect for multi-point lock doors that require a strong design. The handles are inline and operate off the same spindle and screw fixings. They can be easily incorporated into doors made of uPVC/Composite, either new or old.

The handle can be adjusted and angled to accommodate any user. The handle has been tested to 200,000 cycles, which allows for the assurance of the quality of the finish and the performance of the handle over time. The sprung lever can also be cut to fit more locks. This is especially useful in doors with smaller door frames in which the cylinder is further back. A shortened lever is also an ideal choice for doors where the latch can be activated by the thumb turn inside.

Lever Pad

A Lever Pad door handle made of upvc functions differently than lever handles that are found on the majority of doors. These handle types are either operated by a single spindle or by two spindles, either inline or offset. They are typically used on UPVC double glazed doors and come in many variations & styles.

The handles are available in various finishes, including White chrome and Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and is resistant to corrosion. This gives the handle a high performance and durability to serve the purpose it was designed for.

All of the UPVC lever pad styles for handles come with screws and a spindle, allowing them to be put on any new or existing uPVC door. The backplate fixation centres of 211mm permit a larger handle, which is typically beneficial when replacing an old or faulty multi-point door lock mechanism. These levers for handles are also spring-loaded, thereby solving the issue of door handles sagging out of the horizontal position when not in use.

It is crucial to match up the PZ dimensions for both the multipoint lock as well as the uPVC doors when choosing a replacement UPVC spindle and handle. This measurement may also be called 'handle centres or cylinder centres'. It is important to match the right handles.

Once you have the correct PZ size you will then need to ensure that the handle lever pads and push pads are of a suitable shape to fit the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) compatible handles you require for your doors. These are typically round or square with an internal lever, and an external push pad.

The majority of the UPVC Lever Pads we offer are spring-loaded. This means they can be reverted to a horizontal position after they are not in use instead of hanging, and possibly securing to the frame. This prevents draughts from entering the property. It is also the case that the majority of the UPVC handle lever pad style handles are hand-operated that allows you to put them on either side of the door.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are usually found on uPVC doors, but they can be utilized on other types of door. The cylinder lock operates by a key which unlocks the cylinder case. This exposes pins that can be aligned with those inside the lock, allowing them to turn the camera that rotates, opening the door. Euro cylinders are available with up to six pins. Internal and external doors require different levels of security.

The choice of the correct cylinder is vitally important; this depends on the way your door and handle are utilized. For instance, exterior doors require an extra secure cylinder, while internal doors can be secured with an ordinary cylinder. Certain cylinders come with extra features that can improve security, like anti drill or anti bump properties.

A euro cylinder should be properly measured to ensure it is the right size for your door. The cylinder should be measured from the hole for fixing screws in the middle to the end of the cylinder including the thumb turn if you have one. If you are unable to measure with the lock in position, you can take it out of it. A cylinder that extends beyond the handle and escutcheon might be vulnerable to attacks such as snapping locks, therefore it is important that it is not too long.

repairmywindowsanddoors are made with bump and anti-drill features built into their design. They are designed to decrease the chance of attack by forcing cylinders to turn in a different direction. This will help to deflect the attack and protect your doors.

Some cylinders are designed to resist snapping. This is a typical attack on cylinders. A specific tool is used to break the break line of the lock, and then the front of cylinder is snapped off. This is much quicker and more straightforward than gaining access through multipoint locks. It also leaves no evidence of a break-in which could hinder the insurance claim.

Spring Cassette

The spring cassette is located within the base of your door handle backplate providing a sprung solution and returning your multipoint lock handles to their rest position after using. In the past, a lot of handles did not have a spring integrated into them, and as a result, they can droop or drop when the locking mechanism has been disengaged. This component is the most effective way to solve this issue. It also helps prevent your upvc door from becoming stuck in either the open or closed position as they are difficult to close manually.

These spring cassettes have been specifically designed for use with multipoint locks that are sprung, they will not fit multipoint handles that are not sprung and you must have a bespoke hole cut into your backplate in order for them to fit (please look at the image for a technical diagram). These cassettes can be used as a replacement for damaged or missing cassettes that are in the backplate of uPVC door handles. They are supplied in one unit. They feature a square cut out that accommodates an 8mm shaft.

These spring cassettes are a great value solution to the issue of door handles that have become sagging. These spring cassettes are simple to install and will increase the lifespan of your uPVC door.
