Convenience

A built-in microwave oven combination can save space on kitchen counters and provide a modern design to your space. Because it functions as a microwave and a traditional oven, you can heat up leftovers, frozen meals and pre-packaged meals all in one appliance. It also eliminates the need for a separate countertop appliance or bulky stand-alone wall oven. A combination microwave oven could also be a good option when you are looking to improve your kitchen without having to undergo any major renovation projects.

You can find microwave ovens that come in various styles to match your kitchen's decor. Some have a left-to-right swing-out door, while others feature a drop-down design that opens the same way as an oven that is traditional. You can also get a microwave-oven combo that opens in a drawer, like a cabinet. built in microwave and double oven ovensandhobs can be easily accessible and are perfect for small space.

Combination microwaves also come with a range of features to assist in making meal preparation easier and more practical. For instance, some models have a sensor steam cycle that automatically adjusts the time and temperature of your food to ensure that you get perfect steaming of your fish and vegetables. Other features include the broil feature, which allows you to quickly melt cheese and brown your favorite dish. Crispwave(tm) in turn, can grill, bake and crisp food.

Consider how often you'll make use of each feature when choosing a microwave oven combo. If you'll be using the oven component of your combo more frequently than the microwave, you may be better off with an oven with two walls instead. Energy Efficiency

A built in microwave oven combo can provide an excellent space-saving option for those who have smaller kitchens, regardless of whether they live in a home or an apartment. They can help to reduce the amount of the space in cabinets that would be taken up by two separate appliances and they also can help reduce energy consumption. They are more energy efficient than traditional wall ovens and provide the most efficient method to cook. Additionally, they can usually be used to cook both food and warm dishes, eliminating the need for additional appliances such as toasters or warming plates.

In evaluating the possibility of amending energy conservation standards, DOE conducts several analyses that include market and technology assessment, screening analysis, engineering analysis, and national impacts analysis (NIA). For this SNOPR, DOE will rely on its existing engineering analysis of microwave ovens to determine the best level of improvements in efficiency that are technologically feasible for this product class.

DOE will assess the design of a microwave to an energy performance objective that is specified in the engineering analysis. The engineering analysis will then determine the maximum improvement in energy efficiency that is technologically feasible based on the most advanced microprocessor-controlled model available on the market or in working prototypes, or the maximum reduction in energy consumption that is technically achievable with the current technologies available for this product class.

As part of the NIA, DOE will evaluate the impacts on consumers for every product category including lifecycle cost savings as well as simple payback periods ("PBP"). DOE will use the Government Regulatory Impact Model, with an adaptation for microwavable ovens, to calculate the industry's net present value (NPV).

DOE will also evaluate the impacts on manufacturers, and will employ an industry-specific cash flow model specifically tailored to this type of product in order to estimate manufacturing NPV. Additionally, DOE will consider the potential impacts on small business manufacturers and other manufacturer subgroups to determine if they could be affected in a different way by these proposals.

Additionally, DOE will consider whether the tests for microwave ovens must be revised to include active mode energy usage and an active mode energy use metric. Currently, the test protocols only deal with the use of standby mode power.

Design

Microwaves produce heat by causing water molecules vibrate in food. Wall ovens rely upon the circulation of hot air, while microwaves depend on waves to cause food molecules to vibrate. Combination wall ovens combine these two distinct appliances into one unit that saves kitchen space and offers a sleek, modern aesthetic. However, you must carefully consider your goals and budget before investing in a combo wall oven. Some of the ovens we evaluated have design or performance issues.
