French Door Refrigerator With Ice Maker Review

French-door refrigerators are a perfect blend of design and function. They feature stylish double doors that reveal an enormous fridge on top and a freezer drawer beneath. These refrigerators stand out because of their unique features, like through-the-door dispensers and higher-end Ice makers.

We asked Ladina Schopf - an interior designer, architect, and the founder of LS Projects - for her suggestions on how to pick the right home. They looked at storage capacity, layout and energy efficiency, among other aspects.

GE Profile Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

Like its name implies, the GE Profile series is targeted at those who wish to incorporate cutting-edge technology into their kitchens. This refrigerator is packed with them, from an in-the-door Keurig K-cup coffee maker to a smart water dispenser. But these flourishes don't mask mediocre performance, especially in the refrigerator's freezer and an ineffective temperature-controlled drawer. Since this refrigerator costs more, I'd expect better.

This fridge is a great choice, despite the blip. It has a large freezer compartment that is not common for counter-depth French door fridges. It also holds plenty of frozen food compared to other models.

Inside the fridge, you'll find 17 shelves and compartments. The fridge compartment is 18.5 cubic feet of space, which is about par for the size of a French door fridge that costs this much. It also has a decent sized ice maker in the left door, but it's not the largest I've seen.

You can adjust the shelving in both compartments to create customized storage layout for what you want to keep. The interior design of the GE PYE22PYNFS is also attractive. The LED lighting adds a nice accent. The bins for storage inside come with a third shelf that can be folded down to store tall items. The drawers have temperature controls so that you can set them to Meat, Beverage, or Deli settings. They're easy to open and close, however I found their textured plastic coatings a bit rough on the fingers.

The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator comes with all the features you would expect from a refrigerator within this price range. This includes Wi-Fi as well as app support, and GE's SmartHQ Software. The app is compatible with iOS and Android devices and lets you control your refrigerator from any place in the globe. It also has many options for customization. It also alerts you when a door is left open, when your fridge or freezer is in need of defrosting, and when it's time to change the filter.

It would be nice to have GE PYE22PYNFS had Precise Fill which is a feature available in a handful of GE refrigerators that allows users to choose the number of cups they would like to disperse. The fridge displays a countdown to show you how much water remains, but it's not as effective as Precise Fill.

Bosch Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

The Bosch French-door Refrigerator is an impressive product. It's designed to look like it's a seamless component of your kitchen. The fridge uses fingerprint-resistant stainless steel, which is a great feature for busy households. It also features a veggie compartment that keeps vegetables and fruits fresher for longer, and two compressors for preserving food items. The Ice maker is among the most efficient we've ever tested and produces pyramid-shaped Ice with low water usage. This fridge is the perfect option for households with a single member or kitchenettes looking for a built-in look and top-of-the-line food preservation.

This fridge was the top-rated refrigerator in our Refrigerators test for several reasons. french door fridge freezers remained steady at just above 0 degrees Fahrenheit, and never changing more than a fraction of a degree--this is key in preventing freezing burn. The fridge's refrigerator section also performed well, achieving the desired temperature for initial set within an hour and keeping that temperature steady throughout the course of our testing.

Bosch has a reputation for top-of-the-line appliances and appliances, so it's not a surprise that this counter-depth refrigerator is also a smart appliance that has the option of connecting to your home Wi-Fi and Bosch's Home Connect platform. The app lets you monitor and control your refrigerator remotely from your smartphone or tablet. The refrigerator is expensive, but it offers great features and capabilities for the cost.

It's important to understand the limitations of your fridge. You may need to get creative with tall objects because the fridge is limited in shelf space. Also, the shelves are not impervious to sprills and could be damaged or stained by sharp objects. It's easy to remove the refrigerator trays, but be sure to clean them regularly to prevent mold growth.

If you're considering this refrigerator, be sure to read our reviews of the French Door GE Appliances Refrigerator and the Bosch Bottom Freezer Refrigerator.

LG Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

The LG LRFLC2706S is a top counter-depth refrigerator that packs plenty of storage in a compact frame. It has a sleek, fingerprint-resistant stainless-steel finish and features thick handles that make them comfortable to grip. The fridge is built with a standard French door design, and two rows of shelving with spill-capture and a set of crisper drawers. The top shelf to the right can be folded in order to create more space for tall items. There's also a full-width drawer for food items and an internal water dispenser.

One of the best aspects of this refrigerator is that the Ice maker is located in the freezer, which makes it simple to move frozen ice to the fridge to be used when it is required. The freezer also comes with clever design features, such as sliding drawers that allow you to organize your belongings. It also has a large container to store frozen food items, and a separate bin for ice.

Smart InstaView panel is a cool feature of the refrigerator. It lets you manage the refrigerator's temperature, lighting, and more from your smartphone. It's a good method of monitoring and managing your refrigerator, particularly if you're away from home.

The Smart InstaView feature is neat, but it doesn't necessarily improve the efficiency of the fridge. In fact it took a bit longer to defrost and chill foods in this fridge as compared to other fridges we tried. This is likely due to the greater capacity.

The doors are a different issue with this fridge. The sunken handles allow shorter people to open them from the bottom. However, taller people still have a hard time closing them without slamming them. It would have been better if they came with a front-mounted handles.

The LG Counter-Depth MAX is a ideal choice for those who want to combine the benefits of a French-door refrigerator's aesthetics with a more efficient layout. Its capacity is above average for a counter-depth model, and it cools evenly and has a great layout. It's also a bit cheaper than the top counter depth refrigerators that have an icemaker, which makes it a desirable choice.

Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

If you're looking for a French door fridge that doesn't break the bank, this Frigidaire is a great choice. It's a minimalist design that's not as visually striking like some of the competitors but it does have enough features to make it a solid option. Its most notable feature is the adjustable temperature drawer, helps to keep food items like vegetables and meat fresher for longer. It also comes with a huge water dispenser as well as a good ice maker that operates quickly.

The "Chill Drawer", which is situated above the two crisper bins, is a great feature. This drawer allows you to use some of the refrigerator's cooling power into the area so it can be used to store food items that require special attention. This feature can be adjusted by using a slider on the outside of the drawer. You can also set the general cooling settings for the entire fridge. I have found that the generic settings are more effective than the specific ones.

In my tests, I found that the temperatures of the refrigerator were fairly consistent in different parts of the refrigerator. Temperatures at the top and bottom of the fridge did not vary significantly from 38 degrees, and the middle of the fridge was within a degree of 36. This is a solid performance, but does not quite make it to the top of our rankings.

This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. This fridge can be paired with a smart thermostat in order to gain more precise information on the internal temperature of your fridge.

The exterior of the Frigidaire is made of gray-bodied stainless with a "smudge proof" finish. It is capable of removing streaks and fingerprints even when compared to the glossy stainless steel finishes on other appliances I've tried.
