The Best Robot Hoover The most effective robot hoover will mop and vacuum without needing your attention. It will leave your floors spotless. Its surprisingly affordable price and features that are high-end (such as dirt detection) are great features. Be sure to regularly check your robot's brushes for hair tangled and large debris and wash them if required. Some models can also self-empty the onboard dustbin and deposit it in an additional bin at the bottom. This reduces the amount fine dust that is released into the air. 1. Roomba Q5 Pro The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have tested. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. As with other top iRobot models (including the top pick) they utilize smart mapping technology to create detailed floor plans and avoid household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. They also come with carpet boost which boosts the robot's power when it detects an abundance of dirt on the carpet in order to get it cleaned quickly. The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests of floors with no carpet, and they are particularly adept in cleaning dog hair. However, they do have a few flaws, however, that prevent them from being our first choice. One of the Q5's shortcomings is its navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to getting stuck on shoes and socks and couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very well during our tests. It doesn't also have a camera that can see around corners. Still, it's very good for those who want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. Plus, it's very quiet and can be used when you're at work or going to school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on well and aren't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with a self-emptying dock, though. And, if you need to, you can switch the mopping pad to a dry one in just a few seconds. 2. iRobot Roomba The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to mop floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as quick navigation make it easy to clean and effective in tackling larger particles, like pet hair. It also comes with an impressive suction system and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets but it isn't as effective as some of its competitors in terms of deep cleaning. This high-performing combination vacuum and mop utilizes advanced sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste and it will learn the layout of your home over time to provide more efficient cleaning. The app lets you set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average compared to other models. If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to pull back and extend its mops. This helps prevent cross contamination. Its flex arm is perfect for getting under low-lying furniture and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+. During testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete the entire house with the battery at 66 percent left. It did a good cleaning job on various rooms and floors with various flooring types including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was great and it stayed clear of fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables. It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums it, something we've not seen on other robot vacuum/mop combinations. 3. Roomba X40 from iRobot With an elegant circular design that appears more like a normal Roomba than the competitors' boxy units this mop and robot vacuum is one of the most appealing looking in our evaluations. The latest model from iRobot is also its smartest. It comes with advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner). It's also the sole robot vacuum or mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to the combination of high-tech sensors including a structured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can fully self-refill and empty its base station and it has an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads. The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to use. It comes with a simple mobile application interface, and it integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's loud, which can be a problem if you run it in the morning prior to work or at night as you attempt to sleep. It's also quite expensive, though it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally capable and more attractive. If you're willing to live with a bit more noise and some extra cost, this is a very efficient two-in-one device that should satisfy most people. 4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features to help you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device that is similar to Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and refills the water tank, and washes and dries the mop pads. auto vacuum uses LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and spot obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its competitors with premium features. It also comes with a front-mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time but this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and could be confused with power cords or obstructions. Its vacuum has a high suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to finish the job. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum works and also alters the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house in accordance with the amount of dirt they tend to be. If you own a larger home, it's worth selecting a robot that comes with spot or zone cleaning mode. This allows you to tell the robot which area of your house needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice control. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair-mode is also useful. Also, a recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up right where it left off is great for busy families. 5. iRobot Roomba RX3 The RX3 is more sophisticated than its price would suggest. It has a great vacuuming performance, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad, which uses an oscillating motion that cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've examined. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying base that can be washed. The well-designed iRobot application guides you through a mapping session that collects data about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, arrange the perfect spot for cleaning or prioritise your dirtiest rooms for better performance. The app offers a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings. Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, which means it can get to corners and under furniture more easily. It also has a strong 8000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for pet hair. And you can set up a spot clean that thoroughly cleans a particular area. The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It is capable of vacuuming but is more prone to getting caught on low thresholds and is a bit noisier than the other top robotic vacuums we've tried. It also comes with an app that is less intuitive, and a smaller base station that can't double as a bin for emptying.
