Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade

Item upgrade, also called "upping," improves an item's stats. Each upgrade increment boosts the stats linearly.

Players can recycle up to six items at once to gain an ability to gauge the level of each of the upgraded components. The cost of recycling an item varies with its rarity and level.

Upgrade components

In Guild Wars 2, an upgrade of an item can be a method to increase the stats on your weapon and armor. This can be achieved through a variety of methods, including by using upgrade components or by increasing an item's rarity or mark level. A lot of items can be reforged to increase their stats.

Upgradable items can be found throughout the game, both in the world and as rewards for missions. They can also be created by players. Upgrade components are the primary method to upgrade equipment. These are the items that can be inserted into equipment. Most equipment has slots for upgrading and some require a certain level of upgrade. Some upgrade components give specific bonuses while others give general bonuses.

There are a variety of upgrade components that are available in the game. These include universal upgrades, inscriptions, and jewels. Universal upgrades, like gemstones and enchantments, can be used in any equipment type and offer less bonuses than those that are type specific to the type of equipment. Glyphs can only be placed in gathering tools, and provide various bonuses, ranging from increasing the speed of the item's collection to providing additional crafting materials.

To upgrade an item, simply select it in your inventory and open the Upgrade window. The preview will appear on the right hand side of the screen. It will show the expected stats following the upgrade. The Upgrade button at the bottom will read Blocked if you do not have enough of either.

The upper-right corner shows the amount of upgrade components needed for an item. The cost of upgrading increases depending on the level of the upgrade and its rarity, but it can be reduced through various methods, including purchasing upgrades from a vendor or trading them to other players.

The majority of weapons can be upgraded with a prefix, such as a rune, or an insignia. Some can be enhanced with an suffix. These upgrades add an adjective to the name of the item like "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor".

Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to convey information via visuals. They are animated to grab the viewer's eye and stimulate curiosity. The glyphs' animation mimics the body language, making them more effective in communicating the message of a language barrier. Glyphs can also enhance the likelihood of remembering a message by evoking a familiarity in the brain.

Each glyph has a range of values that it can increase a stat's value according to the item when you open the glyph in the Glyph Storage or when you use them to enchant an Artifact. This isn't the actual amount by the glyph can increase the stat, but rather the maximum value by which it can increase a stat. The actual value of the glyph is determined by the quality and tier of the product you are in awe of it.

The majority of upgrade components that are inserted into items can't be removed or replaced without dismantling them except for legendary equipment and upgrades. If, however, you have an unusable rune or glyph that has not yet been applied to your gear, you can move it to a different piece gear by using the Upgrade Glyphs context menu on the Glyphs panel. This will create the new Glyph Set with the selected glyph.

If you want to remove the glyph from an item, you will need to salvage it with the help of a Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. This will cause the item to be destroyed within which it is placed, but you can recover the upgraded item with the glyph and its shards therefore it should not be considered as a loss.

When you take away an item after adding a glyph, the shards of that glyph will disappear. You can also add a glyph on your equipment to make it more valuable. For instance, the glyph Deferred Damage can store damage for the wearer and deal it slowly instead of all at once. This is helpful for players who suffer lots of damage from enemies but don't want to be overwhelmed.

Reroll tokens

Reroll tokens allow players to alter the affixes on their weapons and equipment, and they can be obtained in various ways such as in mistery boxes, as a rare drop from skulled creatures, or from killing bosses. Reroll tokens give the player a brand new random affix, which is typically superior to the one they had before. Reroll tokens can also be a good option to reroll stats on weapons, which can be upgraded to increase damage or other perks.

Rerolled items do not appear in the menu of item upgrades, but they can still be upgraded. Rerolled items can be recycled by pressing the "upgrade" button that alters the appearance of the window and allows up to six items to be chosen to recycle. The level gauge is boosted by recycling an item. The amount is determined by the rarity of the item and its level, which means higher-level items are more useful to recycle than lower-level ones.

Players can also make use of Reroll Tokens and Star Remnants to reroll Weapon Traits to upgrade units. Rerolls roll a percentage chance of a weapon's traits. If it rolls higher, the weapon is upgraded. If Home rolls lower the weapon remains as is. Weapons can be repeated up to three times.

Rerolling is a fantastic way to upgrade an item. However, players must be aware of the fact that the total ilvl will be diminished by the number of that it took to reroll it to the final level. This is evident on rings and Diadems, since they have no other options for raising ilvl.

Players have complained that the reroll system is too expensive. It would be fairer to let people pay for it using money or food items, which would allow them to make changes to their builds without having to invest too much time. However, paid rerolls are not something that the developers would like to implement at this point in the game's development. They plan to add the ability for players to alter their race in the near future.

Leveling

There are many ways to increase the level of an upgrade to an item. The first way to level up an upgrade to an item is by increasing the amount of upgrade. This increases the value of upgrading the stat. The second is to boost the upgrade effect that increases the healing or damage of a particular stat. The base item can be upgraded to an advanced upgrade type. After this the new item will maintain its iLevel but it will be upgraded with the effects of the upgraded item type.

It is crucial to keep in mind that upgrades can be random. In most cases, a better roll will come from the glyphs, but there are also opportunities for greater or special rolls. In addition, the iLevel of the upgrade will be determined by the item type and if you upgrade a rare or unique item to a unique type you has a chance to gain an iLevel that is higher.

Upgrades can be costly particularly if you are upgrading gear from the standard track to the legendary. The cost of upgrading an item will be contingent on the base iLevel and the number of levels to upgrade. Some upgrade tracks also require crests to be completed in order to move on to the next level.

If you're lucky your upgraded item will be at the maximum level of its upgrade track and unlock an additional benefit. This will result in a significant boost in the upgrade value of the item. The bonus effect is different with each upgrade level. In general, the upgrade effect is increased by +3.

The iLevel can also change according to the upgrade path and base level. For example an item that has been upgraded from a rare or unique item to an extraordinary item is likely to gain the Enhanced Defense of the new base type of item.
