3 Wheel Double Buggy

The Fox 5 is an all-terrain stroller that's ideal for parents who love to take a trip off-road. It is equipped with a powerful suspension and huge, puncture-proof wheels.


Claire Our test participant, Claire, was impressed by the packaging. It was easy to open and clean. She found it to be one of the most simple and quick pieces of baby equipment to put together. She took it for a spin around the rough terrain and was thrilled with its performance.

Seats

The majority of triple buggies begin life as single pushchairs. However, some can be converted to take the seat of a second person or carrycot using adapters (these are typically more common in tandem buggies). 3 wheeled pushchair allow you to add an additional board for older children who are ready to walk but need some help.

For a lightweight alternative that's ideal for city streets, take a look at the Joie Evalite Duo. It's easy to maneuver and has a large basket that is full of storage. It can accommodate twins starting at birth and will accept two car seats, or a carrycot with a seat. However, the seats need to face forwards and there's not enough space for a shopping bag underneath which is why you'll need a backpack for that.

If you like to travel off-road and off-road, the Mountain Buggy Duet is a good choice. It's a side by side with the smallest footprint of any double buggy available on the market. It's much easier to get through narrow doors on public transport, and to climb over and up kerbs. It also has a handbrake that is attached to the handlebar that can be adjusted for more security and safety.

Another option that is light weight is the UPPAbaby Vista 2 Double it can be used to accommodate twins or a toddler and a baby. The seats feature multi-position reclining and UPF 50+ sunshades, and the canopy can be adjusted to keep the sun from your child's eyes. The Vista 2 can even be transformed into a triple with the addition of UPPAbaby's 'PiggyBack' board for mobile older children.

The iCandy Orange double buggies are among the most well-known available. This is due to their superb comfort. It's an all terrain pushchair, with a soft suspension to make light work of bumpy surfaces. It can be used in 30 seating configurations, and has a built-in ride-on board for older kids who prefer walking and a 'cinema seating' mode which raises the back seat for better visibility.

The phil&teds dots are fantastic single buggys that can be easily modified to take two (or three!) in various configurations. This is especially helpful when you have a child in your car. The frame can be adapted to a wedgie, which allows for the best lie-flat position. Also, car seat adapters that work with a wide range of brands.

Suspension

The quality of the suspension on a triple buggy is crucial to how it is easy for you and your child to push. It is essential to enjoy a smooth ride as babies can feel every bump in the road. This is especially true if you are driving on rough terrain such as grass or roads that are not paved. Some models also have front wheels that lock to assist in maneuvering and navigating obstacles such as curbs.

Some models have tyres with air filled that are ideal for all-terrain riding, however they can be prone punctures. Make sure you have a spare set of tyres in your trunk. Certain models come with gel-filled or foam-filled tyres which are designed to absorb bumps. They can be less likely to puncture, however they could cause discomfort for your child if they decide to jog.

The side-by-side is the most suitable buggy for city walks. It comes with a superb suspension system that lets you effortlessly and comfortably traverse any terrain. You can even upgrade the duet by adding our dual kit in order to accommodate two children - all within the same compact footprint!

MFM reviewer Kath put the Urban Glide 2 through its tests with her infant and three years old children, and discovered that it coped really well on difficult terrain: "it navigated effortlessly over pavements that were bumpy and grassy, cobbles and dirt tracks easily and was able to maneuver around corners and go up and down kerbs. The 16" rear wheels, when combined with the lockable swivel wheel on the front, make it an extremely stable jogging experience. The Urban Glide 2 has a variety of features, including a large seat unit with padded cover as well as a hood that has 50+ UV protection and easy-to-use and rechargeable lights.

Folding

A three-wheel double buggy can fold pretty well to be stored. There are options that fold flat or stand up (as as if they were a pushchair) and those that are able to open up to reveal more umbrella-style folding with an operated break. The more wheels a buggy has, in general the more easy it will be to maneuver on rough terrain. This is especially true if your wheels are larger than average size. If you're looking to run with your children this is the ideal double buggies for jogging as it has a lockable swivel front wheel that can help you remain in control when tackling hilly or off-road tracks. It features a big undercarriage, a movable handlebar, and a soft suspension to provide an enjoyable ride.

It's a lightweight and compact model that folds with one hand and is ideal for travel. It's compatible with a broad variety of infant car seats and has an undercarriage basket that can be pulled out that can be used to stash things to shop. It's a bit on expensive side but does have a few standout features that make it a great price, including its simple one-click fold, and a host of other features including a bumper bar and raincover.

Storage

Many people are amazed by the capacity of storage offered by the triple wheeled double buggy. Certain models, such as the Roma Atlas, have a large basket as well as two zip pockets on the hood where you can store your phone and keys. It's also designed for dealing with rough terrain, so it's a great choice for family walks or all-terrain strolls.

Other models such as the UPPAbaby Vista 2 offer plenty of space and flexibility to carry twins or even a baby and a toddler (it utilizes their 'PiggyBack' board enable this). It's the smallest side-byside double available. It also comes with impressive technology, including LED visibility lights that are placed on each side of its frame to increase safety in low-light conditions.

The Joie Evalite Duo, a lightweight stroller that can hold twins from birth and is world-facing with a lie-flat reclining position It's something completely different. Its clever frame expands widthways to accommodate the extra seat, yet it weighs around 11kg so it's easy to lift and manoeuvre. It can be used with the car seat, a carrycot, or both. This lets you enjoy the best of both worlds.
