The Best Bedside Cot

These cribs are designed to be put near your bed to make it easier for your baby to reach you at 3am for feedings and nappy changes. They are also a great alternative to a Moses Basket.

The Lullaby Trust, NHS and other experts in safe sleep recommend that newborns sleep in a crib far from your bed. This reduces the risk of suffocation as well as overheating. Our mum testers loved this cosy option with smooth gliding motions to bring babies back to sleep.

1. Joie Roomie Glide

The Roomie Glide is an innovative bedside cot made by English brand Joie that was designed to let you sleep safely without sharing your bed. It has a smooth, single-hand glide that gently lulls your baby into a dream without needing to leave the side of the bed. It also has the glide lock is a single touch that secures it after your child is asleep. best bedside cot hold it securely secured and retractable wheels permit you to move it however you'd like.

The curvaceous cocoon shape, softly padded sides and double-mesh windows add to the security and comfort of your little sleeper. It's also simple to assemble and disassemble, making it ideal to take on trips and then pack away. The cot is simple to wipe clean and comes with a machine washable mattress cover. You can also purchase additional sheets of cotton in a pack of two.

Roanna was awed by this cotbed and deemed it "a high quality buy". She loved that the smooth motion was gentle and lulled her to sleep. It has a sturdy base and mattress that is easy to clean after blowouts, spit ups, and other mishaps with infants. It also includes a machine-washable mattress so you can keep it fresh.


The best thing about this bedside cot is that it rotates 360 degrees, meaning you can get closer to your baby to ensure secure sleep. The side walls are patented and lower and automatically return so you can take care of your baby without getting up from your bed. This is especially important for new moms recovering from C-sections.

The Swivel feature makes it easy to pick up your baby for cuddles or feeds while you're sleeping. It comes with a night light and three soothing sounds, two levels of vibration and a nursing timer to ensure you are on the right path in your breastfeeding or bottle feeding routine.

With its sleek and modern design that comes in a range of contemporary colors and wood effect details, this elegant bedside bassinet is a real winner for sleep. The mesh-like siding allows for plenty of air and provides a clear view of your baby, and the mattress is supportive enough to allow for both nighttime and napping during the day. It also has the ability to tilt it upwards for easing congestion and reflux if required. When you're ready to move your baby into their own space it transforms into a stylish, standalone crib with an incredibly comfortable mattress. It folds flat and fits into a handy travel bag, so you can carry it with you for a weekend getaway or when your baby is staying at Grandma's.

The crib also converts into a cot (kit sold separately) and is an ideal sleeping solution for toddlers and newborns. The softly cushioned side panels prevent baby's legs or arms from getting caught in the cot bars, and the fabrics are removable and hand washable.

The bedside crib is secured to your divan or bed frame and its swivel wheels make it easy to manoeuvre. It's the only item on this list that has the option of a drop-down side that can be opened to allow you access for nighttime feeding or a relaxing.

This model is different from the other bassinets that are featured in this guide. It has soft padding on the sides instead of bars for cots. This stops little arms and legs getting caught in.
