Top Robot Vacuums and Mop Combos

While robots aren't able to substitute for a conventional vacuum in picking up ground-in debris such as metal screws and chunks of orzo pasta, they're excellent at sweeping crumbs, dust and pet hair. The most effective models come with smart navigation technology, which helps them avoid cords, toys, and other obstacles in the household.

1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO is a fantastic robot vacuum that comes with a range of smart features that make it more easy to maintain than most competing models. Its automatic bin emptying is among the most convenient features we've seen in an iRobot, and it works well on both hard floors and carpets. It's also easy to set up and operate and the app will guide you step-by-step through the process. Another impressive feature is the ability to go back to the spot where it began in our tests. It did this for 77 mins on one cleaning before running out of battery.

In contrast to other robovacs we test, the i3+ EVO features a self-emptying bin that dumps debris into an external dirt compartment on its charging base when it's full. The i3+ EVO can be prevented from overfilling with a self-emptying bin. However robot vacuum cleaner needs to be manually emptied at the end of each cleaning session. The i3+ EVO's internal dust bin can hold 2.4L of debris and is enough to get it through several cleaning sessions before needing to replace it.

Like the i7, uses cutting-edge floor-tracking sensors to produce maps. It also allows you to navigate through neat rows. The i3+ EVO can only store one map, while the i7 can store multiple. The map of the i7 can be used to create virtual barriers and no-go zones, but not the i3+ EVO.

Although the i3+ EVO is superior in picking up debris on surfaces than the other robovacs that we tested however, it's not the most effective when it comes to cleaning edges and corners. It's also less gentle on furniture, despite being fairly silent. It was a bit rough on furniture, as it forced chairs away. It also made some collisions against the sides of the test bed.

2. Black & Decker Pro Q5

The Q5 Pro is an excellent option, whether you're expanding your collection of robot vac uums, or just getting started. It packs serious power, smart navigation and a user-friendly automation into a sleek and stylish design at an affordable price. This robot is excellent at cleaning floors that are not clean, and its avoidance tech helps it to steer away from furniture legs or other obstacles. It also performs well on carpets and gets a high score for our tests of navigation. The only issue is that it's a little louder than other models we test, and it doesn't fare as well in our owner satisfaction or predicted reliability tests.

The Q5 Pro has a very large dust bin of 770ml which means you won't need to empty it as often as other 2-in-1 robots. The 240-minute runtime is very generous compared to others we've tried. When the battery is running low, it will automatically return to its dock, where it recharges before resuming cleaning from where it left off. You can control the Q5 Pro using the app or voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

This is the first robot we've seen that has 3D mapping. This along with other advancements has helped it perform exceptionally well in our vacuuming tests and mopping test. It allows you to schedule cleanings, set no-go zones, and check the battery's condition among other things. The app is easy to use, however it isn't compatible with Apple HomeKit. This feature is scheduled to be added in 2025. Apple changed its footnote on its website in early November to reflect the fact that this feature has been delayed until 2025. HomeKit is not compatible with other robots, however Siri Shortcuts are.
