The Best Bedside Cot For Newborns

A bedside crib is a bassinet type crib that is attached to the side of your mattress. This makes it easy to reach your baby during the night for a relaxed feeding. They're suitable from birth to around six months.

Official safe sleeping guidelines from both the NHS and The Lullaby Trust recommends newborns sleep in a separate crib from parents' beds to lower the chance of SIDS. These best bedside cribs make it possible.

1. Arm's Reach Clear-Vue Co-Sleeper

Arm's Reach was founded by a mother and father team in the days before co-sleeping was an everyday practice. They developed a concept that allowed parents to sleep comfortably with their infants. It was the first-ever bedside cot that allows babies to sleep near without suffocating or falling into the mattress or onto the parent's side of the bed. Clear-Vue has been in use for more than 25 years and has never been any reported injuries or fatalities.

It comes with leg extensions built-in to adjust to different mattress heights. It also comes with an upholstered cover and sheet. The bassinet is suitable for newborns until five months old, or until they begin pushing up on their knees. The Co-Sleeper is available as an infant bassinet that can be used on its own or can be attached to the parent's mattress using the strap and plate that come with it. It is simple to switch between these two modes by pulling a string. However it is not able to meet federal standards for an attached bed. Therefore, your child should not be left alone.

McKenna was awed by the Co-Sleeper's ease of use, noting that it's easy to get infants into and out of the bassinet for meals in the middle of the night or other needs from your bed. He also praised the safety of the Co-Sleeper as it is in compliance with all requirements for a baby's crib and bassinet. It's been in the market for years and "about 1.5 million units have been sold" with no reports of infant accidents or deaths.

In our tests, the Clear-Vue was the most easy to access of the cots for bedside use we examined. The swiveling sleep area and adjustable height of the Clear-Vue helped you to reach your child and comfort them. The Clear-Vue does not have lower sidewalls, which require you to stand or crouch down to grab your baby.

The Clear-Vue was the only one in our top five that didn't attach to the bed of the parent. It was a close runner-up and far superior to some of those we tested, which were designed to be connected to parent beds. It's sturdy and sturdy and has plenty of storage.

2. HALO Bassinest

The HALO Bassinest Swivel Sleeper is the only bedside cot that can rotate 360 degrees to keep baby close and make it easier for parents to get in and out of bed. It also features a lowering wall that lets moms take care of their infants without having to get out of the bed. This is a great feature for nursing mothers who require assistance with feeding their newborns in the first months after birth.

The Bassinest has mesh walls on the sides to allow airflow as well as an swivel feature for parents who want to watch the baby throughout the night. The baby's presence and easily visible can make all the difference in the delirium of new parenthood, especially during those late-night nursing sessions.

The model scored highly in the Convenience Assessment, which evaluates features that make it simple to use and clean. This is a must for anyone who has to contend with spit ups and diaper blowouts during the first few weeks of life. The Bassinest can be easily cleaned with water and is a light weight. The mattress pad can also be washed. It comes with a side pouch to store diapers and nipple lotion, which you'll require in those sleepless first days of motherhood.

There are a variety of versions of the Bassinest that are available, including a cheaper standard Essentia version that doesn't come with any extra features and the more luxurious LUXE PLUS series that includes white noise and vibrating to help babies fall and sleep. Both models include a fitted sheet, mattress pad and a large storage bag that's larger than those on other Bassinest options.

The LUXE PLUS series also comes with an adjustable wall lock that lowers that is sturdy and stable, a base that can be adjusted to fit most beds ranging from 22" to 34", a floor lamp that allows you to see your newborn throughout the day, and a removable storage caddy that can store extra bedding or supplies. It's not suitable for travel due the size and weight, but the swivel function is ideal for keeping baby near while you're at home.

3. Joie Roomie Glide

Designed to make parent-baby bonding a dream this co-sleeper from English brand Joie is more than a bedside crib. It lets you lay next to your child, without sharing your bed. You can feed, soothe or snuggle your baby in the comfortable bed. Enjoy bedside cosleeper of the new-born phase.

Joie Roomie Glide is a simple to use and easy to clean cot that's a great option for new parents looking for a safe way to sleep together with their infant. Its cocoon-like rounded shape with softly padded sides and double mesh windows allow you to observe your baby's sleep from your own bed or sofa. The sliding side panel lifts and lowers with just one hand, making it easy to answer those late night wake-up calls. The gentle motion will gently soothe your child into peace so that you can have an uninterrupted night of rest.

The crib comes with a washable, fitted mattress that can be removed for easy cleaning and an aluminum lightweight and sturdy frame for ease of movement. It comes with four locking wheels to ensure it stays in place and is covered with rubber-covered fabric to prevent scratches on the floor.

One of the best features about the Roomie Glide is its adjustable height. You can adjust the legs to match the height of your couch or bed, so that it is in perfect alignment with your baby's mattress. This is especially useful when you're breastfeeding since you can feed your baby without leaving your bed. The height can reduce the risk of your child falling out of the crib.

Another useful feature is the built-in rocking function that is perfect for babies. Two buttons located on the sides of the crib trigger a gentle rocking motion that is soothing and comforting for your baby. You can choose between an easy or a active tempo. The gliding function can be locked after your baby has fallen asleep.

The only downside to the Roomie Glide is that it's only suitable for infants which means you'll need to upgrade to a bigger cot once your baby is six months old (usually around when they move into their own bedroom). Roanna thought it was an excellent cot and would definitely recommend it.

4. Bjorn Cradle

The Bjorn Cradle is a fantastic option for parents who want a simple, stylish bedside cot. It has a minimal design that looks nice in any space, and it's easy to set up and use. Its low height is also beneficial for parents who need to keep an eye on their child while sleeping. This bassinet scored a higher than average score in our Eco-Health category because it doesn't contain any fire retardant chemicals, has a minimal amount of toxic substances, and is endorsed by Oeko-Tex Standard 100, Class I for baby products.

The BabyBjorn Cradle offers a warm compact cradle that soothes babies with gentle rocking movements. Parents can manually rock their baby, or the cradle can turn their own movements into gentle rocking. The cradle's mesh sides promote air circulation and allow parents to keep an eye on their newborn while sleeping.

The cradle is simple to move around the house because of its lightweight weight. It is easy to clean and is able to be washed in the machine with the mattress pad. However, it is important to note that the cradle shouldn't be used in conjunction with any additional cushion or mattress, pillow, comforter, or bedding, as this can pose a suffocation risk for infants.

Like all sleeping spaces, it's important to practice safe slumber habits to reduce the risk of SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). This includes placing your baby on their backs during every nap and while sleeping in the cradle. It is also recommended that you stop using the cradle once your baby starts pushing up on their hands and knees or reaches 8 kg/18 lb, whichever comes first.

Like the rest of our bassinets and cradles, the BabyBjorn cradle is made with child-friendly materials that are tested to meet the latest safety standards. The manufacturer tests their products to be sure that they don't contain harmful chemicals or toxins which could harm your child. The fabric of the cradle is made of polyester and cotton, and it's free of allergens that can affect the sensitive skin of your baby. The fabric also aids in air circulation and is hypoallergenic.
