A crib for bed can help you keep your baby close to you at night without having to get out of bed. The fabric is breathable, which means you can easily see baby and they're incredibly easy to lower for those tired 3am feeds.

Some double as a moses basket, too.

What is a bedside crib?

A bedside crib (also called a bassinet or co-sleeper) is a small baby crib that can be attached to your adult bed, allowing your baby to sleep safely next to you. This is a safe form of co-sleeping that doesn't increase your risk of SIDS as bedsharing does. It can also help you bond with your newborn baby.

These cots often come with a side that can be raised, so you can easily reach your baby throughout the night for feeding and comforting. This is particularly helpful for mothers who are recovering from a csection. Some are also foldable or portable, so you can bring them along on trips and use them as a temporary sleep solution for newborns who aren't ready to transition to a full-sized cot.

Find a crib that has a mattress that is breathable, as well as an extra-safe cover that will shield your baby from staining. You should also buy baby-safe items such as a blanket and a soft toy.

If you are looking for a longer-term solution Some cribs have conversion kits that let you convert them into a toddler bed or cot at the time that is right. This is a great option for extending their life span and making the transition more seamless. Some have a removable top section that transforms into a bassinet, and some can be used as a regular or a high-rise adult bed. This is a good choice for families that plan on traveling frequently or switching between bedrooms at night. Consider the size of your bedroom to ensure that you fit comfortably in the crib. Many cribs come with an riser that can be used to create an inclined position for babies who suffer from reflux.

Anna discovered that the CoZee was a comfortable and safe sleeping space for her infant. She was pleased that it didn't move like other models, which meant she wasn't woken up in the night trying to soothe her baby to feed. She also enjoyed that the side lowered down so she didn't have to reach out over her partner to carry the baby out for feedings at night.

The CoZee comes in charcoal or oak and is a chic option for any bedroom. It's more an expensive piece of furniture than many of the other cribs that we've tested, which can look quite utilitarian in comparison. It's also quite light at just 11kg. It also comes with a carrying case so you can bring it with you on vacation or even when you move house. The only additional items you'll have to purchase are a waterproof cover and a co-sleeping safety strap. The instructions and images are easy to follow when you first open the box.

The Iora is a smaller bedside cot that can fold flat. It also comes with a travel case which allows it to be taken anywhere. It was easy to move from room to space, and our mom testers thought it was the perfect size for a bedside crib. They also appreciated the large storage basket perfect for storing spare bedding or nappies.

Our mum testers love the ease with which they can access their baby in the Iora and that it comes with an option to tilt the bed upwards to aid in reducing gas.

Our moms are thrilled that the mattress adheres to NICE guidelines. travel bedside crib are to place an infant in the Moses basket or crib on its own, without toys, blankets, pillows etc. The mattress is also a good firm and comfortable for babies, and sheets are easy to find. It's not as light as some of the cribs that are smaller on our list, so if you prefer something lighter and easier for you to move around, consider a different option.
