The temperature of the freezer is near-perfect, with a range of less than a fraction of a degree off of the ideal. Although the Bosch refrigerator is pricier than the GE Appliances model, it has more features that make it worth the extra cost. It has a door-in the door storage area which allows you to store small amounts of food in a bin which can be placed right inside the refrigerator's door. It also has a convertible compartment with five temperature settings for different types of drinks, snacks and meat. The Bosch fridge comes with an intelligent home feature called Home Connect that allows you to control it remotely using your tablet or phone. The only drawbacks to this fridge are the flimsy main fridge drawer and the hard-to-use right main door latch. The refrigerator is a great option for kitchenettes as well as single households that require more space than a French-door refrigerator can offer. The stainless steel complements any kitchen beautifully. LG Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator LG counter-depth refrigerators provide plenty of storage in small footprints. Counter-depth refrigerators are less expensive than standard-depth French door fridges, and they could remove the necessity for an under-counter freezer. The LG Smart Mirror InstaView counter-depth refrigerator (LMWC23626S) is no exception with the capacity of a standard fridge, but in an elegant, modern design with an internal dispenser that makes it easy to access water that is filtered. This model's exterior showcases a fingerprint-resistant stainless steel finish and a mirrored InstaView panel that adds to the modern look of the interior. The door bins are roomy, and the top right shelf can be folded down to create a half-depth shelf that allows higher-height items to fit. A set of crisper drawers are in the bottom of the refrigerator, and the full-width deli drawer is suitable for meat or produce. A recessed ice maker can be found located on the back wall of the refrigerator. This reduces space and makes it easier to store an extra bag of ice. The refrigerator uses a door cooling system that uses vents on the fridge and freezer doors to let cold air into. It prevents hot spots and maintains the temperature of the refrigerator. This LG refrigerator is a standout in our tests and has plenty of capacity to ensure that your family is well-fed, but it does have a few issues that we found annoying. First the freezer drawers don't remain as cold as we would like. The temperature of the middle drawer was 41° during our highest use test, which is the temperature needed to freeze ice cream and other frozen food items. The temperature in the rest of your freezer was at around 36 degrees. The refrigerator doors also have handles that are sunken and make it difficult for those with smaller hands to close. It may seem like a minor issue but we prefer front mounted handles on refrigerators, as they are easier to open and close. The fridge is costly but it's worth it for anyone looking to have an elegant appearance in their kitchen. We recommend this fridge to those looking to upgrade their existing refrigerator, or for those who are building a brand new home and want an integrated look in the kitchen. Samsung Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator Samsung's newest counter-depth French-door fridge called the RF23M8090SG is priced at $4200. It's a good-looking model that boasts useful features like an autofill water pitcher and a temperature-adjustable "FlexZone" drawer. It also performed well during our cooling test, but we aren't fans of the gimmicky handles or plastic crisper bins. One thing that distinguishes the RF23M8090SG apart is its Bespoke line that lets you personalize your fridge using removable color panels that can be swapped out when you're tired of the current ones. There are 11 different colors including soft pastels, bolder hues and four metallic finishes. Some of the panels can be customized with photos or text making the fridge a personal feature that can be matched to your tie-dye Crocs, Rick Owens dress or Andy Warhol banana neon sign. You can even alter the color of the fridge's LED lighting, which is pretty. The interior of the refrigerator features a smart finish which reduces the appearance of smudges and makes cleaning simpler. The only negatives to the RF23M8090SG are its slightly cramped beverage center and some learning curve when it comes to opening the door-indoor feature that houses a water pitcher as well as dispenser. You have to feel for an unmarked lever on the side of the door that is halfway across, and when you've done that, it opens a second door within the refrigerator that houses the pitcher docking station along with the water dispenser as well as two shelves for drinks. The 6.8 cubic-foot freezer compartment is large enough to accommodate a large amount of frozen food items and features an impressive slide-out drawer system that allows you to get the food item you're looking for without opening the entire compartment. The freezer also features an ice-cream bin style compartment to store small items, and a huge capacity storage drawer to store larger quantities of frozen food. The drawer can be locked by using a password to ensure that anyone who isn't a good fit is kept out. It also comes with an LED that lets you see what's inside at a glance. The freezer can also track energy use and help you reduce your energy consumption with the SmartThings that are smart and enabled with Energy mode. Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator French door refrigerators are a great addition to any kitchen. They look clean and work well in any size of room. If you're looking to enjoy the convenience of this design without the additional height, a counter-depth fridge is the way to go. This model from Frigidaire which we've thoroughly tested and received an above-average rating in our ratings because of its low cost and thoughtful features, such as an adjustable temperature drawer. However, it also has a couple of nagging problems. Our tests show that the FGHB2866PF can warm up quite often in the freezer, and can become uncomfortable hot in the most inner shelves of the fridge. This is evident in our heat maps which show how interior temperatures fluctuate minute by minute. The butter bin in the orange area on the right is especially warm during our test period. That might not seem so awful at first glance, but it means the fridge is spending a large portion of its time above 33 degrees. It's worth mentioning that this model isn't Energy Star certified, which could be important to some buyers. The main issue is that this fridge isn't the best. It's not equipped with the latest features and a durable construction, making it difficult to recommend it over better options at this price point. This Frigidaire refrigerator is similar to the stainless steel model you might find in your local appliance store. It's a safe choice with a polished finish that looks nice and is resistant to scratches, but it doesn't do much to set itself apart from competitors that have more features and less expensive. If you're looking for a budget counter-depth French door fridge and don't have the budget to splurge on our best picks and the FGHC2331PF is worth looking into. It's got enough storage to meet the requirements of many families and does a great job keeping food fresh. Even even if it's not a green unit, it's much less expensive than our best-rated models.
