A Small Bedside Cot That Attaches to Your Adult Bed

A crib that is placed near your bed can help you keep your baby close at night without the need to get out of bed. The breathable fabric lets you to see your baby clearly and they are easy to lower when you require a 3am feed.

Some also double up as a moses basket too.

What is a bedside crib?

A bedside crib (also called bassinet or co-sleeper) is a baby crib that can be attached to your adult bed, allowing your baby to sleep comfortably next to you. This is a form of co-sleeping that is safe and doesn't increase the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) like bedsharing and can help you bond with your baby's new arrival.

These cots have a side which can be lowered to allow you to reach your baby easily at night to soothe and feed them. This is particularly useful for mothers recovering from a c-section. Many of them are foldable or portable which means you can use them for trips and as an interim solution for babies that aren't yet ready to transition into a full-sized crib.

Look for baby bedside sleeper with a breathable mattress, and an appropriate cover to shield your baby from staining. You'll also want to buy baby-safe items such as a blanket, a teether and a cuddly toy.

If you are looking for a more long-term solution cribs are available with conversion kits that let you transform them into a toddler bed or a cot when the time is right. This is a great way to extend their life span and making the transition more seamless. Some even have a detachable top section that converts into a bassinet, and some can be used as an ordinary or high-rise adult bed. This is a good choice for families who are planning on frequent travel or transferring between bedrooms throughout the night. It is also important to consider the size of your room to ensure that you can fit the crib comfortably. A lot of cribs have a riser that can be added to create an incline for babies with reflux.

The Joie Roomie Glide

The Roomie Glide, a bedside crib from the English brand Joie is a wonderful addition to their range of high-quality products for infants. This crib was designed to help parents connect and sleep side by side with their babies without sharing a single bed. It's packed with features that help make bonding between parent and baby safe, easy, and fun.

One of the most important features is a smooth, rocking motion that can be activated by the touch of a button. This gentle rhythm can help to soothe your baby without disrupting their normal sleep patterns. This is great for toddlers or older babies who have difficulty settling down. It can also help with digestive issues like colic and reflux.

The crib can also be affixed to the side of the bed with an attachment strap and clip. This makes the crib very solid and secure, allowing you to sleep peacefully, without having to worry that your baby will roll off into the middle. The rounded cocoon shape has soft padded sides and double mesh windows on both ends to allow for plenty of airflow while making sure your baby is safe.

The mattress comes with a firm and comfortable and has a removable cover. The crib is easy to set up and disassemble thanks to a lightweight aluminium frame that makes it very portable. The four rubber-covered wheels lockable ensure that the crib will not leave marks on your flooring and are easy to move. It is easy to clean using cloths that wipe clean and is easy to carry in a bag for travel, which makes it ideal for extended absences from home.

The Tutti Bambini CoZee Air

Designed to be a safe crib that can be used as a next-to-me crib from birth until six months old, this premium model features rocking bars and castors that allow for easy mobility. Its airflow mattress is luxurious and provides a comfortable sleep surface while ventilators ensure your baby is kept cool. There are also 6 different height settings, including an incline option that could help with reflux and congestion.

The Tutti Bambini COZee Air crib has a removable fabric and a wipe-clean lining. This makes it easier to clean than some bedside cribs which can create a mess to clean. It also has an upper bar that can be easily lowered to allow for feeding at night without having to fiddle with zips.

Anna discovered the CoZee to provide a safe, comfortable sleeping space for her infant. She was delighted that it didn't rock like some other models, so it didn't wake her up at night when she was trying to comfort her baby during feedings. She also liked that the side lowered down so she didn't have to reach over her partner to carry the baby to feed her at night.

The CoZee is available in charcoal and oak and is a chic addition to the bedroom. It's more modern than the other cribs we've tested that are usually utilitarian. It's also quite light at 11kg, and comes with a carrying case, so you can take it with you on vacation or even when you move house. The only extras you need to buy are a fitted waterproof sheet and a co-sleeping safety strap. The instructions and illustrations are simple to follow once you open the box.

The Maxi-Cosi Lora

The Iora is an infant bassinet designed to make parents feel closer to their infant while they sleep. It adjusts upwards and downwards and slides through three positions to fit next to the bed of the parent or in the corner of the room so that baby is always close to the parent's side. The mesh siding lets air circulate through, allowing you to see your baby quickly. And you can stow more pajamas and other supplies in the large storage basket beneath.

The Iora is a smaller bedside crib that folds flat. It also comes with a travel bag so it can be carried anywhere. It was easy to move around from room to room and our mum testers believed it was the perfect size for a bedside crib. The large storage basket is great for storing extra bedding or nappies.

This is a great choice for parents who want to co-sleep but don't want to share their bed. If one of the partners suffers from mobility issues such as back pain or arthritis. Our mom testers are thrilled with the ease with which they can access their child in the Iora and it also has an option to tilt the bed upwards to help alleviate gas.

Our mothers appreciate the fact that it meets NICE guidelines, which are to place the infant in the crib or Moses basket on its own (with no blankets, toys, pillows, etc). The mattress is also firm and comfortable for babies and sheets are easily available. It isn't as light as other smaller bedside cribs however, so if you want something lighter and easier to move around with, consider one of the alternatives on our list.
