Driving Licence B1

Driving licence B1 is a restricted version of the B category. It allows drivers to drive small vehicles like vans and lorries. It allows drivers to tow trailers up to 750kg.

The present format of the licence is a credit card-sized card. It contains the basic information like names and father's names, date of birth, home address emergency contact numbers blood group and photo. It also contains the categories.

Vehicles you can drive with an b1 licence


A B1 license permits you to drive vehicles that have the maximum weight of 3,500 kg (3.5 tonnes), and can accommodate up to eight persons with drivers. This category covers a wide variety of vehicle types including compact hatchbacks, spacious estates and versatile SUVs. A category C license permits you to tow trailers that weigh up to 775kg.

A category A licence allows you to drive motor vehicles that have two wheels, including motorcycles. If your license is B1 Auto, you are able to only tow small cars with an automatic gearbox such as cars or small vans. You cannot operate a manual vehicle with this licence, so you'll have to retake the driving test and acquire an additional licence to be able to tow larger vehicles.
