Obtaining Your Driving License A1

A driver's license is a crucial document that permits you to drive. You must enroll in driving school and pass written and physical tests.

A1 is the first class of driving licence that permits you to drive a motorbike that is 125cc or 11 kW. If you're over the age of 24 years old, you can obtain a category A licence.

Training

The first step on your motorcycle journey is to get your A1 driving license. You must complete a 17-hour basic course prior to sitting for your theory or practical driving exam. You can complete the course at a driver's academy or a driver training center that is ongoing or with private trainers.

After passing the theory test, you are able to book your practical A1 test. The test is a combination of Module 1 and Module 2.

Module 1 will focus on off-road maneuvers. You will be tested to see whether you are able to perform a controlled U turn and emergency stop. You will be asked to perform several controlled on-road maneuvers, such as a figure eight and slowing down. Then you will need to demonstrate a good eye and anticipate road hazards.

Once you have passed the driving licence test A1 you are able to move to the A2 category for driving licences. This is only possible if have been holding your A1 licence for two years or more.

The requirements for licensing
