The sprung lever is adjustable to accommodate a wide range of locks. This is useful for doors with narrower openings where the cylinder is situated further away from the door. A lever that is shorter is a good choice for doors where the latch could be opened by a thumb turn on the inside.

Lever Pad

The lever pad upvc handle differs from the lever handles commonly found on doors. These handle types can either work off one single spindle (inline) or independently from both sides using two offset spindles or inline (pad). They are usually used on UPVC doors with double glazing. They come in a range of finishes & variations.

The handles are available in a variety of finishes, including White, Chrome and Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and is resistant to rust. This gives the handle the best performance and durability to serve its intended use.

All of the UPVC lever pad styles for handles come with the spindle and screws that allow them to be installed on any new or existing uPVC door. The backplate fixation centers of 211mm permit a larger handle, which is typically beneficial when replacing an old or faulty multi-point door lock mechanism. The handle levers come with a spring, which solves the issue of handles for doors that slide out of their horizontal position when they are not being used.

It is crucial to match the PZ dimensions of both the multipoint lock and the uPVC doors when selecting the replacement UPVC spindle and handle. This measurement is often known as the "handle centre" or "cylinder centres' and is a critical aspect of matching up the right handles.

After you have determined the proper PZ size and the correct PZ size, you must ensure that the push and lever pads are shaped to fit the American with Disabilities Act compliant handles that you need for your door. They are typically square or round with an internal lever, and an external push pad.

Most of the UPVC lever pads we sell are sprung, meaning that they will return to their horizontal position after not in use, rather than hanging out and possibly securing in the frame. This prevents drafts and cold air from getting into a house. The majority of UPVC lever pad handles come in both left and right handed models, allowing them to be installed on either side of doors.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are commonly found on uPVC doors, but can also be found on other types of doors. They operate by using a key to unlock a cylinder case which then reveals pins which can be aligned with those in the lock body, allow them to rotate an revolving cam, opening the door. Euro Cylinders are available with up to six pins. Internal and external doors require different levels of security.

Selecting the right cylinder for your needs is essential; it is dependent on the way your doors and handle are utilized. External doors, for instance should be equipped with cylinders that are more secure and internal doors can be secured using a standard cylinder. Certain cylinders are equipped with additional features that increase security, like anti-drill or anti bump properties.

A euro cylinder must be measured correctly to ensure that it is the right size for your door. The cylinder needs to be measured from the screw hole at the center to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn should there be one. It is recommended to do this with the lock in place however, when this isn't feasible, you can take it off and remove it to measure. A cylinder that extends beyond the handle and escutcheon could be vulnerable to attacks, such as snapping locks, so it is crucial to make sure it's not too long.

Most modern cylinders are constructed with bump and anti-drill features built into their design. They are designed to minimize attacks by forcing cylinders to rotate in a different direction. This will help deflect the attack, and keep your door safe.

There are also cylinders that are designed to resist snapping. This is a more frequent type of attack on cylinders where the break line in the lock is smashed with a special tool to snap off the front of the cylinder to allow the door to open. This is a faster and more convenient method of gaining access than using a multipoint locking system. It also leaves less evidence of the break-in which can delay insurance claims.

Spring Cassette

This spring cassette is located within the base plate of the door handle. It offers a spring-loaded solution to bring the multipoint lock handles to their resting position after usage. The handles had no spring and would droop when the locking mechanism was removed. This simple feature is among the best methods to correct this and it is also a great way to prevent your upvc doors from getting stuck in either closed or open position, as they aren't always simple to manually close by hand.

These spring cassettes were designed to be used with a sprung multipoint locks. They won't work with handles that are not sprung, and you will have to cut a hole into the backplate to allow them to fit. (Please check the image for a detailed diagram). They are a replacement for existing broken or missing cassettes in the backplate of the door handle for various kinds of uPVC doors. They are fitted with an elongated square that can accommodate an 8mm spindle, and are sold as a set.
