Buy Category B1 Driving License

A Category B1 Driver's License permits you to operate a vehicle that has a maximum allowed mass (MAM) which is greater than 3,500kg. It also allows you to drive a trailer of up to 750kg.

These vehicles offer significant economic and environmental advantages. They are efficient and use less fuel than conventional automobiles.

Validity time

The period of validity for a B1 license is two-years however, this could be reduced if you suffer from certain health issues that affect your ability to drive safely. Diabetes, heart disease, mental diagnoses and other health issues that are chronic are all included. In these situations you'll need to consult a doctor and obtain a medical certificate for driving. The certificate needs to be renewed on a regular basis.

A B licence allows you to drive cars, but not motorcycles. This is true in all countries, with the exception of the Czech Republic, Latvia, Slovakia, Spain and Portugal (after two years). You must be at least 17 years old to get an all-inclusive driving licence however, if you are receiving Disability Living Allowance at the higher rate, you can apply for a provisional license at the age of 15 years old.

You can also ride motor tricycles or quad bikes with three or four wheels that can carry up to 550 kg when you are licensed in category B. Mopeds are also permitted that have two, three or four wheels. But, you should not tow a trailer that exceeds the weight of your vehicle.


The third European Union Directive regarding driving licences entered into force on 19 January 2013. The new rules apply to car, lorry and bus drivers as well as those who tow trailers. The law also establishes stricter towing limits for older drivers.

You must also take an additional test if want to drive a vehicle whose kerbweight is greater than 3.5 tonnes. You must pass a test in Category C and meet other requirements to get the licence.

If you are a holder of the category B license and have a category B license, you can now haul a trailer that weighs up to 3500kg in mass. The DVLA hopes to alter the law to allow drivers with licenses already have this right however, until then drivers must pass the BE test.

Medical exam

The B licence also permits you to ride on motorcycles that have engines of 50cc or less, and mopeds and tricycles with engines of greater than 50cc. However, if you want to drive a vehicle that has a larger engine, you must pass an additional test.

Mock theory test

If you're looking to get a Buy Category B1 Driving License You'll have to pass both the theory test as well as the driving test. It's a good idea to practice a few mock exams before your test date. This will aid you in preparing. They can help you familiarize yourself with the format of the test and practice answering questions under pressure. The Category AM permits mopeds to be driven with two or three wheels which can reach speeds of up to 28mph, and a mass unladen of 350kg. (Excluding batteries for electric vehicles). You'll have to pass a Compulsory Basic Training test before receiving this category. You can only have one category on your license at a given time.

The maximum authorised mass (MAM) is recorded on the registration certificate of the vehicle, and you can find it by visiting the DVLA's site. A vehicle with a higher MAM requires a Category BE licence to drive it, while those with lower MAM can be driven with a Category B or B+E licence.

You can add higher categories to your license after passing the test for the category you'd like to drive. You can, for example obtain an A category licence by passing the test for medium-sized trucks. If you already hold a category B licence you can upgrade to the new category for up to 10 years.
