A Small Double Buggy That's Easy to Push One-Handed and Carry Up and Down Stairs

If you're looking for a light double stroller that's easy to push with one hand and carry up and down stairs This is the perfect model.

It has two fixed seats and offers the possibility of up to 30 seating configurations (including three!). Both seats have UPF 50+ canopy with windows that peek out.

Size

The Joovy Kooper X2 double stroller is a side-by side double stroller. It can hold two children who weigh up to 50 pounds. Its seats are more generously large than other double strollers that are lightweight and the canopy has large SPF 50 sunshades that have peekaboo windows. Other features that are important include cup holders for one parent and a large, self-standing bin that can hold up to 25 pounds; swing-away bar for kids to get out and in their seats; and the wheels can be locked with swivels for better manoeuvrability on tough terrain. This is a great choice for suburban and urban families. It also comes with two kits that include a newborn wedgie for an optimum lie-flat position.

Weight

The weight of double buggies will determine the ability to push. In general, a buggy that is light is more easy to lift and carry but it might not have the suspension to withstand bumps and uneven terrain.

Most double buggies come with a maximum weight per seat and some have total frame limits and it's important to check the details of each model prior to you buy. Certain double buggies can be folded with the seats removed, which makes them smaller and lighter. This is helpful if you are limited on storage space.

Tri-fold doubles are generally the lightest, since they require only one hand to lift the top and bottom sections. They are also smaller than side-by-side buggies, which makes them ideal for fitting through doors. The iCandy Geo 3 tri-fold double is among the lighter models available. It can comfortably fit twins or a toddler and baby.

Tandem buggies start out as a single pushchair and have adapters to accommodate a carrycot, a second seat or car seat they are the ideal choice for expanding families. Some, like the iCandy Orange offer over 30 different seating configurations, so they can grow along with your family, up to a 3rd child. They tend to weigh more than tri-fold doubles, but they're generally easier to move between kerbs due to the weight being evenly distributed.

Folding

The best double buggies designed for small children fold in a matter of seconds. Our Lab experts appreciate this feature because it lets them fit the buggies into the back of their cars and free up storage space when not in use. For instance the Joovy Kooper X2 has straps on each seat that pull up, and the entire thing folds down. it's a trifold that even our most experienced testers can accomplish with just one hand.

The lightweight Delta Children LX Side by Side is another great option for a compact double buggie. Its lightweight weight is an advantage but it also has some great features such as large pop-out canopies that have SPF 50 and peekaboo windows swing-away bars that aid children get in and out of the seats and reclining seats and leg rests for smaller children.

Manoeuvrability

When selecting a compact double stroll, it's important to consider its maneuverability. This includes how easy it is for both children to travel in the buggy. Some pushchairs, for instance the iCandy Orange with its 'cinema seating' (where the back seat is elevated) are better than others.

double pushchair are effective in this regard and so can side-by-side designs. However, they can be a bit longer overall and can be difficult to navigate through doorways.

The UPPAbaby Vista 2 is an excellent example of this as it's a relatively narrow pushchair that still allows for two seats to be added as well as an important feature - an 'piggyback'-style board that can carry a third child.

Other smaller, three wheeled models, such as the phil&teds Dot, are also incredibly agile. This is especially the case with its clever "dot kit" that transforms it into an inline buggie. This has a couple of different seating configurations that are suitable for children of different ages. It also allows the front seat to be turned to face parents for ultimate face-to-face time. It also has a great storage basket and is easy to fold. This is a great solution for growing families.

Comfort

Parents can keep both children in sight at the park, in the grocery store or wherever else using narrow tandem buggies or side-by-side buggies. These lightweight doubles are able to accommodate two children with a maximum weight of 50 pounds each. They also come with pop-out canopy that can be extended far enough to give shade. The doubles also have a single parent cupholder and an adjustable cupholder on the back of the seat. They also include an ample underseat storage basket.

If you're starting out with a growing family, add the double kit from phil&teds to your dot buggy to transform it into an inline double, perfect for newborns & toddlers alike. The innovative 3-wheel design offers superior manoeuvrability and easy kerb pop, while the sling seat is a fab newborn-ready choice for ultimate face to face bonding time. You can easily swap the sling seat for an infant car adapter as your children grow older. With a stylish rain cover and travel bag and ready to go on your next adventure!
