When you are choosing new lever pad door handles made of upvc, it is essential to ensure that they are in line with the PZ (distance between the handle spindle and the centre of the cylinder hole) of your existing multipoint locks, as they need to be in line to ensure that the doors remain locked, whether from the inside or outside. Our handles are designed to fit a wide range of conventional cylinders, but it is always worth double-checking before purchasing.

If you want to upgrade to dual spindle levers, you'll need to remove the handles that are currently in use and then take apart the lock case. This will require an additional split cylinder inline. You can purchase these separately. We have included a technical diagram in the images of each product.

After you have removed the screws that are holding the door handle you have, it is a good idea to loosen them and examine the mechanism to see the condition it is in. If the screws aren't loose enough, you may need to loosen them more. After that, you can take the spindle from the handle and replace it with your new Upvc handle. Before putting the handle in place it is recommended to ensure that it is in the right position. You can do this by putting your finger in the space between the door frame and the handle to ensure that it is in a level position.

Lever/Lever

The lever handles for doors are used to operate a multi-point lock with an Euro cylinder. They are found on a variety of double upvc doors as well as some wooden and aluminium doors. They have an inside lever and an outside paddle and are generally available in two different types. Sprung - They have a spring cassette installed within the backplate that helps bring the handle lever to a horizontal position. Non-sprung - These do not have a spring mechanism, and will need to be manually pulled to bring the handle lever back to its horizontal position.

To fix the door handle lever that is sliding, you'll need to find the hole or pin that is the detent access point. It's typically an insignificant hole or protruding ring, or rectangle, located on the handle base plate. Once you have located the detent access hole or pin, you can remove it using a screwdriver.

Once the handle has been positioned horizontally, you can put back the screws. Make sure to tighten them so that the handle remains firmly attached to the base plate. Consider applying a threadlocking product to the screw threads in order to increase grip and prevent them from loosening over time.

There are many reasons that door handles for levers slide. The most common reason is that the fixings are over tightened, and are putting pressure on the lever bearing and causing it to pull against the door face. It could also be that the levers aren't operated at a straight angle and this is causing compression of the latch mechanism preventing it from fully springing back into action.

A common cause of spring levers that are not functioning properly is that the spring is not being in the right position on the backplate. The most effective way to determine this is to operate the handle to check whether it returns to the horizontal position.

If the door handles aren't tight, it is important to identify the problem quickly, as it could cause excessive wear on the screws and eventually to the handle falling off the base plate. It is also a good idea to tighten all loose screws on a regular basis to help to prevent them from loosening.

Lever/Snib

These handles made of upvc are called "Snib handle sets" and feature a snib lock button at the top of the door lever. If you don't have a dummy locking device then you can use this device to secure the door. They usually come with a Fullex 68PZ (that's 68mm between the spindle's center and lever or lock centre) door lock.
