In Oman, a limited liability company (LLC) must be registered with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and approved by the Omani government. The name of the company must be unique, and a limited number of shareholders can own 50% or more. If a foreign company is setting up a branch office in Oman to perform a specific contract, it will be required to register with the government and obtain a contract before opening the branch office. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry will also approve the company's name. A company name with Omani words must have a higher share capital than a company with an otherwise identical name.
