The Best Robot Hoover The best robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention, and will leave your floors clean. Its surprisingly affordable price and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detection) are great features. Be sure to regularly check your robot's brushes for hair that is tangled and large particles and wash them if needed. Some models will automatically empty their onboard dustbin into a larger one at the base, which decreases the amount of fine dust released into the air. 1. Roomba Q5 Pro The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They feature top-of-the-line motors that can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other top iRobot models (including the top-rated model) they utilize smart mapping technology to design detailed floor plans that avoid home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also come with Carpet Boost, a feature which boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet. Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors, and they're particularly adept at cleaning pet hair. They do have some flaws, however, that prevent them from being our first choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is that its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's thus susceptible to getting stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate rooms with lots of people well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera to see around corners. However, it's a good choice to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on an Roomba from iRobot and have a bare-floored home or office. Plus, it's very quiet and can be used when you're at work or school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. And it's less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. And, if you need to, you can switch the mopping pad to dry ones in a matter of minutes. 2. iRobot Roomba X30 The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into an elegant, compact package. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it easy to clean and efficient at taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also has an impressive suction system and a self-emptying bin. It's the best robot vacuum for carpets, but it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning. This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensors to keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time and provide cleaner and more efficient cleaning. The app lets you set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. It has a battery life that is comparable to other models. It is possible to instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when in a carpeted room, which helps prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm is ideal for getting under low-lying furniture and along baseboards. It's not as efficient on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+. In tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean the entire house with 66 percent of its battery left. It did a decent cleaning job on different floors and rooms with different flooring types including some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was superb and it stayed clear of fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles cables. It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically empties into its base, and also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is something we haven't seen before on other robot vacuum/mop combination. 3. Roomba X40 from iRobot This robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular design that appears more like the regular Roomba unit than the boxy units of the rivals. It's among our most attractive robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It features advanced features like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads on its own). It's the only robotic mop or vacuum to score 100% in our testing due to a mix of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops. Like other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, with an easy mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only drawback is that the X40 still a loud unit. This could be a problem in mornings before work, or during the night when you are trying to fall asleep. It's also a bit expensive but not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing to put up with a little more noise and some extra cost, this is a very efficient two-in-one device that should satisfy most people. 4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a lot of advanced features that will let you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner like Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum, refills the water tank, and washes and dry mop pads. The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and detect obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its top competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards, though this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and was sometimes confused with obstructions or power cords. Its vacuum has a high maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to get the job done. It also comes with a feature known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas in the house based on how dirty the areas tend to be. If you own a larger home, it is worth choosing a model that has the option of cleaning zones or spots. This lets you tell the robot which area of your home needs to be cleaned with the help of an app or voice control. A stair mode can be useful if you own a large furniture. Finally the recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum take over exactly where it left off is ideal for busy families. 5. iRobot Roomba RX3 The RX3 is more sophisticated than its price suggests. It has a great vacuuming performance and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad, which uses a reciprocating motion that cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've examined. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying washable base. The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate an exercise in mapping that collects data on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or create a spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for better performance. The app also provides access to many features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning. Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, which means it is able to reach corners and underneath furniture better. It features a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction as well as intelligent combs to remove pet hair. And you can set up a spot clean that intensely cleans a localized area. The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like cute little eyes. It does a good job vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to getting caught on low thresholds and is a bit louder than the other top robot vacuums we've tested. It also has a less intuitive app and a tiny base station that doesn't double as an emptying bin.
