The Best Robot Hoover

The most effective robot hoover will clean and mop without requiring your attention. It leaves your floors spotless. Its surprisingly affordable price and high-end features (such as dirt detection) are a plus.

Be sure to check your robot's brushes for hair tangled as well as large debris and wash them if required. Some models can also automatically empty their onboard dust bin into a larger bin at the base, which decreases the amount of fine dust released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They feature motors that are top-of-the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. As with other top iRobot models (including the top choice) they employ smart mapping technology to design detailed floor plans and avoid household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. They also feature carpet boost that increases the robot's power when it spots an abundance of dirt on the carpet, allowing it cleaned up quickly.

Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our bare floor tests, and they're particularly adept at cleaning pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws that keep them from being our top choice. For instance, the Q5's navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to get caught up in shoes and socks and can't navigate tight spaces very well in our tests. Also, it doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of a room.

It's still a good value, especially if your home or office has a lot of unfinished floors and you want to save money. Plus, it's very quiet and can be used while you're at work or going to school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. And, if you need to change the mopping pad for dry ones in just a few minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its smart cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean and effective in tackling larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with an impressive suction system and self-emptying bin. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, although it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.

This highly efficient combination vacuum and mop uses advanced sensor technology to dodge obstacles and pet waste and it will learn the layout of your home over time to provide more efficient cleaning. The app lets you customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. It comes with a battery life that is similar to other models.

You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when it's in a room with carpet which prevents cross-contamination. Its flex arm is great for getting under furniture that is low and along baseboards. However, it doesn't have the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to sweep the entire house with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a great cleaning job on different flooring and rooms with different flooring types, including some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top-notch and it swiftly eluded fake dog socks, turds and cables.

It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. automatic vacuum can clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is something we haven't seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

This mop and vacuum combination has a sleek, circular look that looks much like a Roomba model than the bulky models of the competitors. It's one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It has advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads on its own).

It's also the sole robot vacuum or mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is due to a mix of modern sensors, including a restructured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.

Like other iRobot models like the X40 is easy to use, offering a simple mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only downside is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This can be a concern in the mornings before work or at night when you are trying to fall asleep.

It's also quite expensive, but it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally capable and better-looking. If auto vacuum to live with a little more noise and a little more cost, this is a very powerful two-in-one that will delight most.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot vacuum and mop. It has a range of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes the care of vacuuming and mopping, with a multifunction dock that automatically empties the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, and washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot employs an array of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and identify obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its top rivals. It also has a camera mounted on the front to detect hazards in real-time, although this wasn't quite reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to complete the task. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vacuum works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home in accordance with the amount of dirt they tend to be.

If you have a larger home, it is worth selecting a model with a zones or spot cleaning modes. This lets you instruct the robot on which part of your home must be cleaned with the help of an app or voice control. A stairway mode is useful if you own a number of furniture. Additionally a recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up right where it left off is ideal for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than its price would suggest. It is a good vacuum cleaner, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad that has an oscillating motion that does a better job cleaning than the other robot mop cleaners we've tried. And it's highly self-sufficient with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying washable base.

The well-designed iRobot app guides you through a mapping session that collects data about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, arrange an area for cleaning or to prioritize your most filthy rooms for better performance. The app has a range of options, including seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

It is also able to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong 8,000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for hair of pets. You can also set up a spot cleaning that intensely cleans a localized area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like cute little eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, but it is more likely to get stuck on low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums we have test. It also comes with an app that's less intuitive and a small base station that doesn't double as a bin to empty.
