UPVC Replacement Door Handles

Over time, the handles on your doors will wear out and will require replacement. It is important to be able to match the dimensions of the handles you have previously replaced when replacing them.

The three measurements to be inspected are the top screw position as well as the key hole and lever sizes. Use the size guide to assistance with this.

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever/lever door handle is a contemporary handle that can be installed on doors that are new or replacement. This kind door handle is offered in a wide range of styles & finishes. This handle is available from several manufacturers, including Avocet ERA Fullex Hoppe Mila Millenco Yale.

Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle

The door handles of uPVC/Composite are constructed of durable materials and are ideal for doors with multi-point locks that require a heavy duty design. The handles are inline and work off the same spindle and screw fixings. They are easily installed on existing or new uPVC/Composite doors.

The handle can be placed and angled to accommodate the needs of all users. The handle has been tested to 200,000 cycles, which allows for the assurance of the quality of the finish and the performance of the handle over time. The sprung lever is also adjustable to fit a broad range of locks. This is useful in doors that are narrower, where the cylinder is further away from the door. A shorter lever is an excellent option for doors where the latch could be operated by a thumb turn located on the inside.

Lever Pad

A Lever Pad upvc door handle operates differently than lever handles on doors. These handle types are either operated by a single spindle or by two spindles inline or offset. shoreham-by-sea door handle repairs are typically employed on UPVC double glazed doors. They are available in a variety of variations and finishes.

The handles are available in a variety of finishes including White, Chrome, and Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and resistant to corrosion. This provides the handle with a high performance and long-lasting durability for its intended purpose.

All UPVC levers for handles include a spindle and screws and can be installed on the uPVC door. The 211mm backplate fixation centres permit a larger handle, which is often beneficial when replacing an old or faulty multi-point door lock mechanism. These handle levers are also spring-loaded, thereby solving the issue of handles hanging out of their horizontal position when not in use.

It is important to ensure that the PZ dimensions of both the multipoint lock as well as the uPVC doors when selecting a replacement UPVC spindle and handle. This measurement is often known as the handle centre or 'cylinder centres which is a crucial aspect of matching up the appropriate handles.

After you have determined the correct PZ size, you will need to make sure that the lever and push pads are shaped to fit the American with Disabilities Act compliant handles you require for your door. These are usually round or square with an internal lever and an external push pad.

The majority of UPVC lever pads that we offer are sprung, which means that they will return to their horizontal position when they are not being used, instead of hanging out and possibly sticking in the frame. This helps prevent the draughts and cold air from entering a home. You will also find that the majority of the UPVC lever pad handles are swivel, allowing you to install them on either side of the door.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are typically used on uPVC doors, but they can also be used on other types of door. The cylinder lock is operated by using a key that unlocks the cylinder case. This reveals pins that can be aligned to those in the lock, and permit them to turn the revolving camera, thereby opening the door. Euro Cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins, with both internal and external doors generally having different levels of security.

Selecting the right cylinder for your needs is essential; it is dependent on how your doors and handle are used. External doors, for instance are required to be fitted with cylinders that are more secure, whereas doors inside can be secured using an ordinary cylinder. Additionally, certain cylinders are available with extra features which can enhance security, for instance anti-drill and anti-bump characteristics.

A euro cylinder needs to be measured correctly to ensure it is the correct size for your door. The cylinder should be measured from the central screw hole to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn should there be one. If you cannot measure using the lock in a fixed position, you can remove it. A cylinder that extends beyond the handle and escutcheon might be susceptible to attacks like snapping locks, therefore it is essential that it is not too long.

Most newer cylinders have been constructed with bump and anti-drill features built into their design. They are designed to minimize the chance of attack by forcing cylinders to turn in a new direction. This can help to deflect attacks and keep your door safe.

There are cylinders that have been designed to resist snapping. This is a common attack on cylinders. A specific tool is used to break the lock's break line and the front of the cylinder is snapped off. This is faster and more straightforward than gaining access through multipoint locks. It also leaves no evidence of a break-in which can impede an insurance claim.

Spring Cassette

The spring cassette is situated inside the base plate of your door handle. It is a spring-loaded solution to help return your multipoint lock handles back to their original position after usage. The handles were previously equipped with no spring, and would slide when the locking mechanism was removed. The addition of this simple element is one of the most effective ways to fix this issue and is a great way to prevent your doors made of upvc from getting stuck in either closed or open position, as these aren't always simple to close manually.

These spring cassettes are specifically designed to be used with multipoint locks that are sprung They will not work with non-sprung multipoint handles. You will require a bespoke hole cut into your backplate to allow these to fit (please look at the image for a technical diagram). These cassettes can be used as a replacement to damaged or missing cassettes on the backplate of uPVC door handles. They are sold as a single unit.
