Tunnel Containers

The most important feature of tunnel containers, as the name implies is the double doors at the two ends of the container. This significantly improves accessibility and makes tunnel containers ideal for storage and handling.

They are popular for converting into self storage units as you can divide them by adding a partition wall. We have helped customers use them for storage of plant machinery and secure site access with turnstiles.

Dual Access

Tunnel containers are an alternative to the standard shipping container that has double doors at both ends. It is also known as a 'double-end door container' or 'tunnel container' these containers provide access to stored items from both ends.

The dual-end access permits cargo to be loaded and unloaded from either side of the container, which is ideal if you're transporting larger or bulkier goods which would otherwise have to be backed into and out of the container. Double-end access also removes the necessity of unloading the entire container in order to access the items stored within, which can be time-saving and reduces the risk of damage during transportation.

This innovative feature makes tunnel containers versatile and flexible. They can be used for a wide variety of storage and transportation needs, including being converted into living spaces or mobile offices. These containers are made of tough, corrosion-resistant Corten steel and are able to withstand even the most extreme weather conditions.

If you're looking for a more secure solution we can join steel bulkheads to one of the long sides, creating two storage compartments with a total of 10 feet. Self-storage businesses can use them to divide their customers' belongings into distinct areas, which increases security. Our double-end door containers are popular for use at large events as ticket entry points, as they can accommodate large crowds and keep them dry.

Our 20ft double-door tunnel containers have fork pockets that can be used with industrial forklifts. This means that they can be easily stacked or lifted at the corners of each long side. We've also installed PIR insulation and heaters to these units which allows them to be used for storage all year round.

We can make tunnel containers in custom sizes to meet your precise specifications if you need a more bespoke solution. We can make them in single- or double-sided versions, and different lengths. However a custom-sized tunnel container will cost more than an ordinary shipping container, so we recommend selecting the one that is closest to your needs.

Temperature-Sensitive Goods

The storage of most dangerous goods such as explosives or liquids that ignite is best done at optimal temperatures. Temperature fluctuations can alter their stability, and cause fire or release toxic fumes. When storing temperature-sensitive hazardous goods, it's essential that container terminal facilities are equipped with the appropriate monitoring equipment to track and identify any anomalies or deviations from set temperatures.

These fluctuations are often difficult to detect, especially in a busy workday. Container terminals should have a system to keep track of the temperature of all reefer containers within their facility. This gives personnel the ability to react quickly in the event of any abnormalities and prevent any risk.

Tunnel containers are a practical option when it comes to transporting and storing temperature-sensitive goods. Double doors are located at both ends of the container, making it easier to load and unload during transport and storage. They can be used to store large items like vehicles and machinery.

These containers are typically made from the standard 20 or 40 foot shipping container. The solid end is taken away and a new set of double doors are welded in place, allowing two-way access. These modified containers are typically employed on construction sites where heavy machinery has to be passed over and under.

Some container terminals also transform their tunnel shipping containers to function as a secure site entrance, installing a turnstile or an automated security checkpoint when visitors traverse through. While these conversions aren't available in standard sizes, they can be easily customized to meet specific requirements and are highly cost effective as compared to the construction of an entire facility from scratch. Tunnel containers are usually only available as a 'new one trip' condition. This is because the owners build them to meet a specific need and then retain them. They are therefore highly sought-after by those who want to expand their business or warehouse without the need to purchase brand new refrigeration facilities. They are also a very economical solution for those who want to store temperature-sensitive goods over long periods of time, or for transporting large volumes of cargo over long distances.

Convenient Storage

If you're looking to store space for your cargo, tunnel containers are a convenient option. These shipping containers have double doors on both ends of the container, which is different from traditional dry storage containers that have doors on one side. This means that you can enter the storage container from both sides which allows for more convenient access and faster loading and unloading of goods.

This dual entry point can be especially useful when storing items that require frequent access, such as machinery and equipment. This means that you don't have to constantly reverse vehicles into and out of the container, which could damage both your vehicle and the container.

You can also make use of a tunnel container to store goods that you need to keep at a specific temperature. The thermal and refrigerator tunnel containers are ideal for this as they are temperature controlled and keeps the items inside at a particular temperature.

A tunnel container is a fantastic solution for a garage or workshop. It allows you to access all areas of your work space without having to move any furniture. Two doors at either end allow you to quickly access and exit your storage container when needed.

One-trip tunnel containers can be constructed from scratch with two sets of double doors, or adapted from a conventional shipping container. In the second case the solid end is removed from the container, and a pair of double doors is joined to the other end.

Shipping containers such as these are typically only available as new in a 'one-trip condition' since their owners have built them for a particular reason and don't want them to be sold. Some companies still offer refurbished tunnel containers. These containers that have been refurbished are tested to ensure they are safe to transport and can be sold along with a longer warranty.

Easy Transportation

The double cargo doors on both ends of a tunnel container make it easy to load and unload items from either end. They are perfect for transporting general and bulk cargo as well as special items such as automobiles or motorbikes. These containers are also often used as tunnels for temporary use at construction sites due their safety, durability, and ease of modification.

Shipping containers with double doors can be great storage. The ability to access both sides of a container will save you time and money by removing the necessity of removing the entire container or section to reach the items that are stored in the back. The doors on both sides can be locked to stop unauthorised access.

They're extremely sturdy, and due to being made from corten steel, they're designed to endure harsh weather conditions. They are water and wind-proof, and feature ventilation to ensure airflow. These features can shield items from moisture, reducing the risk of loss and spoilage.

You can choose a variety of options for a container tunnel based on your requirements. For example open top containers feature a bow-top that is removable, which allows for easier loading of heavy and large cargo. Side-open containers have doors on the side which makes them ideal for the storage of small goods. A refrigerated ISO container, or reefer, has a regulated temperature and can be used to store temperature-sensitive goods.

These containers are available in new and refurbished options in 20ft and 40ft sizes with doors on both sides to allow for easy loading. 40ft tunnel containers can be customized to meet your specific needs but will cost more than a standard double end door container.
