Vacuuming With a Robot Hoover is the Best Hands-Off Model We've Tested

This high-end Eufy bot is the most hands-off model that we have tested so far. It vacuums, mop, self-empties, and washes and dry mop pads without you having to do anything.

It doesn't come with advanced cleaning modes or a bigger docking system, but it offers amazing performance for less than half the price of the most expensive robotic vacuums. It has a compact design and is able to reach under furniture.

Vacuuming

Vacuuming using a robot hoover is a fast, simple method to keep your floors looking and feeling clean. Many of the robots in our top picks are designed to work without your input So you can schedule them to work while you're out or start cleaning sessions using your smartphone. You'll need to select an excellent robot that can navigate and object detection to avoid it getting stuck under furniture or down the stairs.

It is essential to choose the best robot vacuum that is able to effectively and efficiently clean all types of flooring. Look for a robot with a large dust bin that will hold a lot of dirt in between emptyings, and a nozzle which does not lose suction when it turns.

Most robots require little to no maintenance, other than taking out tangled fur from the rotating brush after each cleaning session (and wiping its camera or sensors as required) and regularly emptying the bin or using the robot's self-emptying base. If you follow these simple maintenance steps, your robot vacuum will last as long as full-size vacuums and keep your home cleaner for longer.

Robot mops aren't as flexible than vacuums, however some also remove puddles and spills. The iLife V3s Pro is an example of such a machine, which is a solid choice for people with wood floors or a combination of carpets and rugs. It's quiet and has solid navigation capabilities that have helped it avoid obstacles during testing and the charging dock can also double as a trash bin.

To get the best results, pick a robot that can handle both vacuuming and mopping simultaneously. That's what the Karcher RCV 5 can do and it comes with additional useful features, such as live cameras that send an image that is grainy to your app so that you can monitor your pet or kids as well as an easily programmable remote control. Its navigation isn't as reliable as other models in our selection however it is able to lift itself over low thresholds and has a generous 500ml dustbin that doesn't have to be cleaned frequently.

Mopping

Robots that mop and vacuum are relatively new to the market. They are more expensive and require an additional tank of water than standalone robots. However, they might be worth the extra cost for those with hard-to-clean stains clean or pets.

Some of the top robots can clean floors and carpets as well as vacuum. Many brands offer robots that can do both jobs very efficiently. The Combo J9+ is among the most efficient mopping robots that we have tested. It comes with docks that can hold up to 60 days' worth of dirt. This is a huge improvement over the Qrevo Pro which ran out water after only mopping 30 days of dirt in our tests.

The Tapo RV30 plus from networking giant TP-Link is a great two-in-one. It is compact, quiet and has a neat, fuss-free look. In our test rooms, it cleaned the floors accurately and thoroughly - it was particularly effective in cleaning rugs. However, it required several runs to scrub some areas of stained wood. Its LIDAR navigation is very effective as well. It avoids bumping into furniture and running over power cables.

It's a bit sluggish on the stairs, but it's to be expected from a small robot designed to work around obstacles. The only drawback is that the mopping pads are difficult to attach and didn't stay put during our tests. Additionally, it lacks the ability to deal with dirt that has dried, which makes it more like a vacuum cleaner rather instead of a full-fledged mop.

Despite these shortcomings, it's still a solid choice for those who want an easy-to-clean experience that can handle carpets with equal competence. It has decent suction, which has helped to remove dust and pet hair from carpets. A good feature is its automatic carpet recognition which increases the strength of the vacuuming to take on dirt that is embedded. It is easy to use, and the charging dock automatically empty the dustbin when it is full. This is a fantastic feature for those who live in apartments.

Cleaning automatic vacuum cleaner , mop, and sweeper has an app that lets you customize cleaning routines, pick rooms to clean, schedule cleaning sessions, and adjust settings such as suction, water level and scrubbing power. Some robots also have intelligent dirt detection, which uses the data from previous cleaning sessions and maps data to prioritize dirty areas and optimize cleaning mode.

The app allows you to set up virtual barriers and no-go zones to protect your robot from dangerous items such as cords or pet water bowls and sharp objects. Some models have laser navigation sensors that allow you to create virtual barriers, while others feature small physical boundaries and barriers that can be put anywhere you'd like to limit your floor space.

There are still dangers to be aware of, even though the best robot vacuums can recognize and navigate around obstacles. For instance, a robot's main brush could get stuck in long cords or curtains and stop the machine from running. To prevent this from happening you should clear the area of cords and tie up any long curtains.

Some robots automatically update their software which regulates navigation and obstacle avoidance algorithm. This enhances performance and reduces wear and tear on the robot's internal parts. It is recommended to periodically check the website of the manufacturer as well as your robot's app for updates to the firmware.

If you live in a large home, you should choose one that comes with different cleaning modes. The iRobot Roomba 11S Max can mop and vacuum on hard and carpeted floors with different suction settings. It can also switch automatically to the highest power setting when cleaning carpets and increase its scrubbing strength with SmartScrub.

If you're looking to be hands-off, a robot with the ability to speak to a voice-activated assistant is an excellent choice. The iRobot Roomba 980 can be controlled by Alexa, Siri or Google Assistant. It has a small self-emptying docking system as well as a powerful cleaning motor that makes your floors sparkling.
