Top Rated Robot Vacuums

A robot vacuum will keep your floors clean enough to decrease the frequency of hoovering manually. Choose a robot vacuum with good navigation, has the ability to clean stairs and corners and has large bins that only needs to be emptied periodically.

There are models that can mop and charge themselves This is an advantage that is essential for families with pets or children. The top performers in our tests have great obstacle avoidance.

1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO

The i3+ EVO is similar to its sibling i3 EVO. They differ only in the fact that the i3+ comes with self-emptying capabilities. That makes the i3+ an excellent option for those who want an entirely automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but don't mind having to empty their dust bin manually as it gets full.

Both robots do well picking up surface debris off carpets and hard floors and they are very good in maneuvering around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes smart maps of your home that help the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean in a manner that maximizes efficiency. However, unlike the i7+ and other top-rated robots we test, the i3+ doesn't have any obstacle-avoidance features and therefore it could be stuck on things like socks or power cords, and may have issues in navigating through transitions between surfaces like hardwood to carpet.

iRobot recommends that you tidy up the area where the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or other items it might come across. self vacuum 's also recommended to keep the dust bin and filter clean so that they do not become blocked by dirt. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is empty or the battery is not fully charged, it returns to the docking station, and it automatically empties the dirt into the station's dust bin. Then it continues cleaning from where it began. The i3+ EVO's battery can last for approximately an hour and a half of continuous use, and takes around three hours to fully recharge.

2. IRobot Roomba i7+

The iRobot i7+ is the top model in iRobot's flagship line and comes with the latest features. It's self-charging, self-navigating, and the most important feature of all -- it comes with an auto-emptying dustbin, which eliminates one of the main sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.

The Roomba i7+ can keep up to 10 floor plans and their names thanks to Imprint Smart Mapping, which lets it create maps of rooms so that it can clean them more efficiently. It also works with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning tasks and control your robot using voice or via the app.

The i7+ is quicker and more agile in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also removed large pet hair pieces from all surfaces, including carpeting. Its main advantage over the eufy, though, is its self-emptying dustbin that eliminates a major source of maintenance and cuts down on the cost of maintenance.

We were also amazed by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services that we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning routines and to move around the room, and even vacuum the area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. After being connected, to voice commands to the i7+ for example "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options for managing the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

In a world of vacuums with cords that feel like minivans or buses, this tiny Dyson model feels like an old-fashioned sports car. It is powerful enough to replace a traditional stand-up vacuum in a majority of homes, but also small enough to fit on the bookcase or coffee table.

The V10 is powered with seven cells of energy-dense Lithium-ion batteries that can provide power without fading for 60 minutes. Its sophisticated whole-machine filtration system captures allergens and expels clean air back into your home. The cleaning head is specially designed to drive stiff nylon bristles deep into carpet to suck up large particles and fine dust. It has three suction modes that can be adjusted to the task. It quickly switches from handheld vacuum to floor vacuum and back.

The model also comes with a dock that charges to 100% in 3.5 hours and provides easy access to two attachments as well as an Wand clip. This is a huge improvement over earlier Dysons that require a lengthy charge and are difficult to store.

The V10's main drawback is its limited run time. Its marketing claims that it has up to 60 minutes of run time are a bit misleading as CR's tests show. This is a typical battery-powered vacuum's run time. This is still enough to get rid of the majority of a typical-sized home, but not quite long enough to clean every area (though a second run-through usually can be effective). This model has its own advantages, however: it's lighter and more maneuverable than older Dysons cordless models, and its vacuuming ability is noticeably superior for carpet floors with low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694"

The 694 is a basic robotic vacuum that's an excellent choice for those who don't have a lot of money to spend on a robot. It was able to pick up most types of debris and sizes during our testing and often went over the same area multiple times for an extensive clean. Its flat front side helps it reach into corners and along the edges of walls, which is a nice touch.

Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt technology to steer clear of obstacles and help you navigate your home. It's not equipped with the mapping capabilities of more advanced models, like our top picks, i3+EVO and J7+ Series. It may get stuck on phone cords or low furniture and often runs out of power before returning to its base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in all aspects in that it has fewer parts that need regular cleaning and is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, has lower recurring costs, comes with more advanced automation capabilities and is more efficient in maneuvering itself. It also has a bigger dustbin and is charged faster.

The eufy RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 in most reasons, since it has a better battery life, the ability to change its suction power mode manually, comes with physical boundary strips, and is controlled by your smartphone's voice assistant. It is also more durable, has a stronger motor, and performs better on low-pile and bare floors.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a household name in the field of home electronics. self vacuum 's not a surprise, then, that they are also among the top manufacturers of robot vacuums and mop. Their Jet Bot AI+ is equipped with cutting-edge onboard tech for navigation and obstacle avoidance.

The app provides plenty of options to personalize your robotic cleaner, including virtual barriers mopping water levels, behavior adjustments docking frequency settings and much more. It's easy to comprehend and user-friendly, as is the case with other Samsung devices.

In our testing of the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and handled dog hair (on carpet) quite well, cleaning up 86% of it. It was not as successful in avoiding taller objects like cords or socks. This was disappointing. It's also more expensive than the other models that we tested, and this could be a problem for certain shoppers.

The smart vacuum comes with an onboard camera that is accessible via the app, and you can also set up a live streaming from the robot's cleaning station. This feature lets you to monitor your children or pets while you are away. The filter and the dustbin can be cleaned to ensure an easy, quick clean-up. The Jet Bot AI+ also has a clean station that self-empties to keep the robot's dustbin clean and optimizes its suction power for each cleaning.

6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum

Black and Decker robots have been designed specifically for flooring made of hard wood. The robots come with an extra-wide cleaning path, and a dustbin that is 2 times larger than other models. This lets them clean the area for longer. Additionally, they come with two side sweepers that clean around edges and corners. The POWERSERIES Extreme model comes with AutoSense technology, which can tell if it's picking up surface litter or embedded dirt and automatically adjusts the power level. The vacuum also has an app that lets you to view an interactive map, control functions, and set schedules. Additionally, you can track the vacuum's battery status and return it to its dock for charging at the push of the button. The app lets you customize the LED lights on the top of the vacuum so that you can discern where it is focusing or if it's stuck.

The app also makes it simple to steer the robot manually should you need to. My living room rug, for example has a dark-colored border which could cause a problem for other robots. The HRV 425BL however, continued to move across the border without ever registering the cliff. The ability to program a weekly cleaning schedule for each week is a time-saving benefit.
