Path of Exile Item Upgrades

The performance of a variety of Path of Exile items can be enhanced by upgrading the performance of them. They can be a good source of additional damage or more AD or even more attachments.

Often times however, upgraded Common and Magic gear is often surpassed by Rare-grade equipment due to their high requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades are a kind of upgrade that can be used on armor and weapon items. They improve the effectiveness of the item they are attached to. Upgrades to armor are available in the game's world and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at any bonfire. They can also be salvaged by using a specialist or higher salvage kit to retrieve upgrade components from items.

The level of an armor's or weapon's upgrade determines the amount of damage it can take on. The absorption of damage by a piece armor will increase when it is upgraded to the maximum upgrade level. But, it's important to keep in mind that this will raise its weight, requiring it to weigh more than before.

There are a few different types of armor upgrades that are available in the game and they all have distinct effects. Certain upgrades give armor an additional number of health points, while others make it more powerful and lighter. The kind of armor upgrade an item can get will be identified by the name of the upgrade as shown in the table below.

A few upgrades are magic or a hybrid of technology and magic, which is indicated by a "Magic" or "Hybrid" entry in the table below. Additionally, some upgrades require a charge to use, and are shown by the "Charges" entry in the table below. The charges associated with these upgrades are updated daily or never expire depending on the upgrade.

The cheapest way to upgrade armor is to use Iron Ore, which can be gathered by exploring the area and looting small loot chests. Titanium is more expensive however, it is available from smelters located in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, such as the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to high level armor pieces. These upgrades can provide a significant improvement in stats and are a worthwhile investment, especially for 1-handed weapons.

The process of upgrading an armor piece to its maximum upgrade level will dramatically boost its defense however, the user must be aware that putting more weight on it can drastically decrease its agility and speed. It is not recommended to upgrade armor past +9. The added defense typically isn't worth the weight and power cost of the upgrades.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades allow players to improve the effectiveness of certain aspects of the weapon. Upgrades can improve the accuracy of a rifle, or the damage that shotgun shells do. Some weapons also have special upgrades that enhance their inherent capabilities. Frictionless materials (improves stability, and reduces the possibility of overheating), and Kinetic coils (increases the projectile's velocity to cause more damage) are two examples.

The majority of weapon upgrades require the use of a whetblade, or one of the three Power Dices and a different amount Minerals and Erons. They can be gained by completing Side Quests or by killing a certain number of bosses and monsters.

Upgrades to a weapon, equipment Set piece or Whetblade requires visiting the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine and paying her an upgrade cost of a set number of Bars. The more bars needed to complete an upgrade, the more advanced the level. If you have multiple upgrade materials the cost of upgrading will be lower.

In Chapter 2: Season 5 the way you upgrade your weapon and equipment sets has changed a bit. Previously you could go to an Upgrade Bench and pay a set number of Bars to upgrade your weapon or equipment to a higher quality. You could do this until you reached a max upgrade level of the equipment or weapon, after which upgrades would reset.

It's still possible, but it relies heavily on RNG. Instead, you're much better off visiting stores and purchasing equipment with low upgrade levels, but good base scores and stat distributions. They will also have a chance at gaining you the most prestigious perks and blessings.

To increase their level faster, many players prioritize upgrading their weapons. Players should also upgrade the weapons their squadmates utilize to increase their power. For instance, Shepard should consider upgrading the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R to enhance its effectiveness when accompanied by experts in biotics like Grunt and Tali.

Jewels

Jewels can be used to improve a stat or provide secondary effects in weapons and armor. They can be created through an process known as jewelry crafting, where you combine a gem with a number of specific chemicals at a table. The higher the grade of the gem, the better its secondary effect. item upgrades are obtained in the world from Treasure Goblins, World Bosses and sometimes by salvaging Legendary gear. You can also buy them from The Jeweler for gold and a Scattered Prism.

The quality of a diamond can be improved upon by the Jeweler, in stages that vary from Crude to Royal. Based on the tier of the jewel it can provide different stat boosts when inserted into weapons, gear and jewelry.

The Jeweler is able to create the highest levels of gems with the exception of rare and legendary ones which you must be at certain levels to gain. Jewels can be substituted with another jewel without destroying the original. item upgrading can only replace the jewel once within an item of equipment.

The use of more jewels in a move will make it more smooth and is usually performed for aesthetic reasons. In addition to improving performance, the jewels also create a surface that is harder than metal, which means that repeated friction from pivots doesn't cause damage as easily.

In addition to the above upgrades, the player can also acquire glyphs for their weapons and shields from a Glyphmaster. These glyphs offer a small boost and can be swapped, but they are not guaranteed to be available as loot. Glyphs are like jewelry and can be upgraded by the Jeweler in exchange for Scattered Crystals and gold. Glyphs can also be removed, which returns them to the inventory. Other upgrade components such as aegis or traits cannot be exchanged and can only be retrieved by using an Upgrade extractor or salvaging with Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage.

Trinkets

Trinkets are a great way to provide your hero with a variety of small, but beneficial advantages. They are available in the starter area as rewards for personal stories or loot. They are also available from vendors and by doing road interaction. They may also be crafted by jewelers, and found or purchased on the Trading Post.

The first trinket players can unlock is the cloak. It gives a small but beneficial boost in movement speed and evasion. The player will then be able to acquire rings, amulets and necklaces, in a similar way similar to how they obtained weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment has an upgrade slot that is either universal or jewel. Universal upgrades are smaller and are able to be used on any device. Jewels are not upgradeable or replaced, and can only be used with certain trinkets.

These trinkets grant additional buffs and abilities that are active even when the hero isn't fighting. This lets the hero be more effective while inactive, and can also help to compensate for the absence of a solid team or the absence of any talent tree slots which would normally be filled with the hero's best statistics.

As a rule trinket upgrades should be a priority BiS (Best in Slot) items you won't replace anytime soon. Also, consider items that have desirable statistics aren't as significant as the iLevel of the item that is to be upgraded. This is especially true if an item has multiple stats that you'd like to upgrade, as it's often better to upgrade a single important stat than two sub-optimal ones.

In the beginning of the game, players in the jungle are likely to upgrade their trinket to a red, while top and middle players will usually opt for either a pink or green ward (depending on the matchup). These choices will have a major impact on the hero's ability to control his map.

In addition to the items listed above, players can also find other trinkets that form trophies and rewards throughout the game. They can be earned by completing certain milestones within the story, like finishing a chapter's main quest or killing a particular boss. You can view them by selecting the achievement from the reward section of the hero's menu.
