The Silver Cross Slumber Bedside Crib Travel Cot

This bedside crib, designed for divan beds, is simple to assemble. The instructions can be a bit difficult to follow as there is a specific sequence in which you have to arrange the pieces, but MFM test subjects said it was very intuitive once they were used to it.

It also folds quickly and compactly and fits into its own bag for holidays or trips to grandparents.


Easy to assemble

If you're in search of a travel cot that's easy to set up and move around, look no further than the Silver Cross Slumber. It's designed to function as a bedside crib. This lets you keep your baby close to you throughout the night and feed them while not getting out of bed. It's also light and compact making it ideal to travel with.

The crib is easy to build using poles which you bend to position and a sheet that is popped over the mattress. Once it's set and you're ready to put your baby in. Mum test Emily says it took her a few attempts to get the hang of assembling it but once she had it figured out it was fast and simple. Her daughter was able to sleep well in it as well.

It comes with a newborn bassinet and a mattress that folds, making it suitable from birth. It also has a side-zip which allows you to lay on your baby as they sleep and then put them in the crib and zip them up to ensure safety. This is a great option when you're used to cosleeping with your baby and want to keep it going for as long as you can.

The crib can be folded down and stored in a bag when you are ready to pack. This is a great idea to use for travelling. This is a great option if you are moving house or if guests are staying for some time.

However, she believes it's worth the effort as it's a gorgeous cot that's robust and easy to clean.

Jasmine, a MFM mom who tried the crib at home, liked how it looked in her bedroom. She also liked the fact that it was durable. She also was awed by its size, stating that it was larger than a Moses basket but not so large that it was oversized. She found it was easy to find bedding for and the mattress was of good quality, unlike some she's encountered that feel thin or thin.

It's important to remember that a crib for bed isn't a substitute for a proper baby sleeping bag or swaddle as it does not guarantee the safety of your baby during sleep. It's crucial to follow the Back To Sleep campaign guidelines that state that your baby should rest on their backs in the crib or cot. Easy to clean

Easy to store

As the name suggests this crib is super easy to store away and keep clean. The sides fold in and the legs collapse into a compact bag that easily fits into the boot of your car or suitcase, making it ideal for day trips, weekend breaks, and the occasional stay with friends and family. The material is durable and machine washed, and the mattress feels comfortable to the touch. However the mattress is shallower than most and our mum tester Kathryn found it to be quite low to the ground, which meant she had to bend her knees to get her child to go to bed.

It's also a bit heavier than some of the other travel cots we've tested, but it's still quite lightweight and compact. It's simple to set up and the four mesh sides are great for visibility and ventilation. It also comes with a convenient changing station with a nightlight, music and changing station however our mom tester Nicola noticed that her daughter Olly didn't particularly like the additional features, and she found them to make her work more difficult in the dark.

Aside from the extra accessories, this cot is fairly basic and straightforward in its design, yet it's one of the top on the market for its weight and user-friendliness. It is suitable from birth and can be easily converted into a toddler's crib and playpen. One side opens to allow easy access. It comes with a carry bag, making it easy to transport and store when not in use.
