Convenience

A microwave oven with built-in features can save space on your counters and give your kitchen a sleeker appearance. Since it functions as a microwave in addition to a traditional oven, you can heat up leftovers, frozen food items and pre-packaged meals all in one appliance. It eliminates the necessity of separate appliances for the countertop or large wall ovens. If you are looking to upgrade your home without having to do major remodeling, a combination microwave oven is a great choice.

Microwave oven combos can be found in many different styles to suit the decor of your kitchen. Some come with a swing-out right-to-left door, whereas others feature a drop-down style that opens the same way as a traditional oven. You can also purchase microwave ovens that open through a drawer similar to a cabinet. Microwave drawers are simple to reach and are ideal for small spaces where you want to minimize the use of counter space.

Combination microwaves are also equipped with various features that help you prepare your meals faster and more convenient. Some models feature the option of a sensor steam mode that adjusts the temperature and time of your food automatically to ensure perfect steaming of your fish and vegetables. Other features include a broil feature that lets you quickly melt cheese or cook your favorite food and Crispwave(tm) technology that lets you grill, bake and crisp foods.

When choosing a microwave combination, be sure to take into consideration how often you'll use each function. If you'll be using the oven portion of your combination more often than the microwave, you might be better off with a double wall oven instead. A combo oven has a smaller capacity than an individual oven.

They can save the space in cabinets that would be taken up by separate appliances, and also reduce energy consumption. They are more energy efficient than traditional wall-mounted ovens and offer an efficient method to cook. Additionally, they can usually be used to cook both warm and hot dishes, which reduces the necessity for additional appliances such as toasters or warming plates.

DOE conducts a variety of analyses when evaluating the possibility of amending energy conservation standards. These include assessments of technology and market, screening analyses, engineering analyses, and a national impact assessment (NIA). In this SNOPR, DOE will rely on its existing engineering analysis of microwave ovens to determine the highest efficiency improvements that are technically feasible for this product category.

In the engineering analysis, DOE will compare the design parameters of a microwave with an energy performance set of objectives. The engineering analysis will then determine the maximum improvement in energy efficiency that is technologically feasible based on the most advanced microprocessor-controlled model available on the market or in working prototypes, or the maximum reduction in energy consumption that is technically achievable with the current technologies available for this product class.

As part of the NIA, DOE will evaluate the impact on consumers of each product class including lifecycle cost savings as well as simple payback periods ("PBP"). DOE will employ its Government Regulatory Impact Model with an adaptation for microwave ovens to calculate the industry's net present value ("NPV").

DOE will also assess the effects on manufacturers and will employ an altered industry cash flow model specifically tailored to this type of product in order to estimate manufacturing NPV. In addition, DOE will consider the potential impacts on small business manufacturers and other manufacturer subgroups to identify any that could be affected in a different way by these proposals.

DOE will also look into whether the test procedure for microwave ovens requires to be revised to include active mode power consumption and an energy use metric. The current test procedures only deal with the use of standby mode power.

Design

Microwaves produce heat by causing water molecules to vibrate in food. best rated built in microwave upon the circulation of hot air, while microwaves rely on waves to cause food molecules to vibrate. Combination wall units combine both appliances into one unit, which is ideal for securing space in the kitchen while giving a modern, sleek look. However, you must carefully take into consideration your budget and goals before deciding to purchase a combination wall oven. Many of the combination wall ovens in our ratings have issues with performance or design.
