Size Combining the convenience of a microwave oven with the versatility of a wall oven with a built-in microwave and wall oven combo is a great solution for kitchens of all kinds. Explore our complete range of microwaves that combine with wall ovens to find the perfect fit for your home. Be sure to read the cutout specifications and installation instructions for the model you select to ensure it works in your space. Our microwave and oven sets include both oven and microwave models with a variety of colors, styles and finishes that will complement any decor. Look for features like smart and convenient controls as well as a power cook feature and a built-in self-cleaning system to help you save time. Convenience A built-in microwave oven will save you space on your counters and give your kitchen a more sleek appearance. Since it functions as a microwave in addition to a traditional oven it can cook leftovers, frozen foods and meals that are pre-packaged in one appliance. It also eliminates the need for a separate countertop appliance or bulky stand-alone wall oven. A microwave-microwave combination can also be a good choice for those who want to modernize your kitchen without having to undergo any major remodeling projects. Microwave ovens are available in different styles to match your kitchen's decor. Some microwave oven combos feature a swing-out right-to-left door and others have drop-down models that open the same way as traditional ovens. There is also microwave ovens with the drawer design that opens as an open cabinet. Microwave drawers are easy to reach and are ideal for smaller spaces where you want to keep your microwave from taking up valuable counter space. Combination microwaves also come with a variety of features that simplify meal preparation and make it more efficient. For instance, certain models come with sensors for steam cycles that automatically adjusts the time and temperature of your food items to ensure that you get perfect steamed fish and vegetables. Other features include a broil element that lets you quickly melt cheese or cook your favorite food and Crispwave(tm) technology that lets you grill, bake and crisp foods. When choosing a microwave combination, make sure to think about how often you'll be using each function. If you'll use the oven component of your combo more frequently than the microwave, you might be better off with an oven with two walls instead. It's also important to remember that a combo appliance typically has less capacity than a traditional standalone oven. After you've selected the right microwave and oven combination to meet your needs, you should think about the installation procedure. Over-the-range models can be positioned over the stove or cooktop and connect to an electrical outlet, while built-in microwaves can be plugged directly into cabinets or walls of your kitchen. Some models come with trim kits that allow you to effortlessly blend your new microwave with your existing kitchen cabinets. Energy Efficiency A built in microwave oven combo is a great space saving option for those with smaller kitchens, regardless of whether they are in a house or apartment. They can help to save on cabinet space that would normally be taken up by two separate appliances and they can also help to reduce energy usage. They are more energy efficient than traditional wall-mounted ovens and provide the most efficient method to cook. Additionally, they can usually be used to cook warm and hot dishes, reducing the requirement for additional appliances, such as toasters or warming plates. When evaluating potential amended energy conservation standards, DOE conducts several analyses that include market and technology assessment, screening analysis, engineering analysis, and national impacts analysis (NIA). For this SNOPR, DOE will rely on its current engineering analysis of microwave ovens to determine the highest efficiency improvements that are technologically feasible for this product category. In the engineering analysis, DOE will compare the design parameters of a microwave to an energy performance set of objectives. The engineering analysis will then determine the maximum improvement in energy efficiency that is technologically feasible based on the most advanced microprocessor-controlled model available on the market or in working prototypes, or the maximum reduction in energy consumption that is technically achievable with the current technologies available for this product class. As part of the NIA, DOE will evaluate the effects on consumers for every product category, including lifecycle cost savings as well as simple payback period ("PBP"). DOE will use its Government Regulatory Impact Model with an adaptation for microwave ovens to calculate the industry's net present value ("NPV"). The impact of manufacturers will be assessed also, and DOE will use a modified version of the Industry Cash Flow model that has been modified for this product type to calculate the manufacturing NPV. Finally, DOE will consider the potential impact on small business manufacturers and other subgroups of manufacturers to identify any that may be disproportionally affected by these proposals. DOE will also look into whether the test procedure for microwave ovens needs to be revised to include active mode power consumption and an integrated energy use measurement. At present, the tests only include standby mode power consumption. Design Microwaves create heat by causing water molecules vibrate in food. Wall ovens depend on the circulation of hot air, while microwaves depend on waves to cause food molecules to vibrate. Combination wall units blend these two appliances into one unit, saving space in the kitchen while offering a sleek modern aesthetic. It is important to take into consideration your budget and goals before investing in a combination wall oven. Some of the combo ovens we evaluated have design or performance issues.
