This is beneficial for parents who suffer from sleep deprivation in the early years. It also aids in promoting a healthy growth of the baby by providing a safe and comfortable sleep environment.

They also have to meet safety standards, such as BS EN 1130:2019, which will ensure your baby is safe and secure when they're asleep. Also, make sure the mattress you get with your crib is firm rather than soft, and look for any gaps which could increase your baby's risk of suffocation, or entrapment.

You should also avoid using pillows, duvets or baby bumpers in your baby's crib unless they're made specifically for use with a cot or crib because they could be danger and not meet safety standards. It is also important to ensure that any toys or objects your baby is playing with in the crib are securely attached to the crib, and don't protrude too far out of the edges.

If you're unsure about a piece of equipment, ask other parents in a NCT group or at a baby cafe for advice and choose a crib that is brand new and complies with current safety standards, instead of secondhand or hand-me-downs. Check the crib for damage before buying it.

A bassinet is another option. It is similar to a crib, however, it is typically attached to your bed. It does not have legs. These are perfect for newborns and are a great option if you are recovering from the c-section. They keep your baby close to you all the time.

Jasmine as a mother tester, liked that the crib swivels. This made it easier for her to reach into and out of it to take her baby. She also liked the size of it, saying it's not as large as a standard crib, but it's bigger than standard Moses baskets and is a comfortable crib for babies. It's also easy to build and can be folded flat, making it easy to transport. Some mothers found it to be to be a bit heavy, however, and this could be a problem for those with mobility issues.

The Maxi-Cosi Lora is another option to think about. It won Gold in the 2021 Mother&Baby Awards for the Best Cot or Crib. This is distinct from other cribs for beds in that it doesn't have an adjustable panel, but instead an adjustable side that you can lower to make it easier for baby to reach. It's not as compact when dismantled like other cribs, but it's still fairly portable and comes with a travel bag for easy storage.

Some cribs can convert into a toddler bed or cot with an expansion kit. This can be a beneficial feature for families who are planning to extend the duration of their baby's sleeping space long past the newborn stage, but isn't always required.

The best cribs for bedside use are those that are next to your bed so that you can look after your baby, change diapers in the evening, and feed your baby without getting up from your bed. They'll usually have sides that fold or zip down easily, to allow you to reach over in the dark to pick them up and they'll also be breathable for your comfort. Most will come with mattresses, which is crucial since you need it to be firm and flat, not extremely soft or lumpy.

The price of more complicated models will likely be higher. Consider whether the crib is made to fit your own bed or not. Some cribs are only compatible with a specific kind of divan base, and this could be a problem if you have a bed that is more unique.

The Next2me Magic crib, which is popular with those who have a divan, is a great option for those who already have one. It was nominated for the 2021 Mother&Baby Awards, in the category of the Best Cot or Crib, or Moses Basket. It's well-constructed with high-quality mesh sides so you can see the baby's face. Our mom testers gave it a thumbs up. It has a shelf that can be used for nappies or blankets, and weighs just 10kg.

Another good option is the SnuzPod4, which comes in a variety of colors, and our mums have been very pleased with it too. They appreciate the design, which is slim and sleek, but still provides ample space for their baby to rest comfortably. And they are enthralled by the extra features, like the ability to tilt to aid in reflux and the soothing rocking mechanism.

Both cribs can be purchased at PS99 or under, making them more affordable than a Moses Basket if you're trying to save money on the initial cost of your purchase. Always adhere to safe sleeping guidelines and ensure that the crib you pick is secure.
