Richard Seaton This in my opinion is bordering on a scam. What you are getting is the free version of Winx DVD Ripper which can be downloaded directly from the manufacturers website (http://www.winxdvd.com/giveaway/) without having to provide any personal information whatsoever. This offer on BitsDuJour is nothing more than a data harvesting exercise by TradePub.com to collect personal details for their own marketing purposes.

BitsDuJour should never have hosted this offer as imho as it is not a sincere offer. This offer states "this deal has a limited number of seats" however on WinxDVD's giveaway page it states "unlimited copies, everyone can get a free copy".

Bye the way if you go to http://www.winxdvd.com/giveaway there are other free offers. You can also get DVD Ripper Platinum (free lifetime upgrades) + DVD Copy Pro + HD Video Converter Deluxe + DVD HD Video Player for $30.95 (was $159.85)

Rime I visited the WinX giveaway page and the only software I saw for free was WinX HD Video Converter Deluxe. The Windows version had expired, but the Mac version was still active.

Richard Seaton I can assure folks that when I visited the giveaway page this morning I was able to download a free copy of WinxDVD Ripper Platimum. I had already downloaded a copy via the BitsDuJour offer (including filling in the form with my details). I downloaded the file from the official site to see if it was the same as what was being offered via BitsDuJour. Sure enough the exact same file so I can't explain why the giveaway page has changed or why it says the offer expired on 5th June.

I checked. Nope, BOTH versions are still active.

The page you're looking at is for the Windows version (http://www.winxdvd.com/giveaway/). All products on that page are for Windows only. The Windows version of the free product is called: "WinX HD Video Converter Deluxe". (Immediately underneath is a link that says, "Get Mac version, click here >>" and that looks like a download link and because there is no similar link next to it for Windows, makes it look like there's only a Mac version to download.

But if you want the Mac version, click on that same link ("Get Mac version, click here >>") and you'll be taken to the Mac version of the same page, all products on that page are for the Mac only (http://www.winxdvd.com/gi...ee-mac.htm). The Mac version of the free product (the box image of the Mac version also looks different) is called: "WinX HD Video Converter for Mac" but otherwise it looks like it's the exact same product. (And of course, immediately underneath that is the link that says, "Get Windows version, click here >>", but now you know that's not a download link, but rather, takes you back to the previous all-Windows page.)

The above two links clearly need to be reworded better!

You're correct about the difference in the HD Video Converter names for Win and Mac and you're also correct about the different pages for Win and Mac products. However, once I click on the "Get Giveaway Version" button on the Windows page, I'm given the option of downloading a "Free Trial" or purchasing the "Full Version". It says that the "Giveaway was expired on June 5." Whereas on the Mac page if I click on the "Get Giveaway Version" button, I'm again presented with a choice, but the left hand choice is another "Get Giveaway Version" button that will download the giveaway HD Video Converter software. So it appears that the Mac giveaway is active, the Windows giveaway isn't.

Mark Gregory Ok everyone i Downloaded WinX HD Video Converter Deluxe from http://www.winxdvd.com/giveaway/ Even though it states expired June 5.
And yet Counter shows 6 days and so many hours left, Clicked on the Download Free Trial, downloaded and installed to see whats going on.
Results were it is Version 5.9.4 Build on Apr 1 20 16 and SHOWS Registered Copy and even shows the Licence Number. Can't see anywhere that it is a Free Trial and no expire date, It seems it is a Pre Registered Version So i gather it is not a free Trial but a Fully working Version with no expiry date. (i hope lol).

wts Take it easy! Yes, it's a different kind of promotion, since it's sw instead of a book, etc. from TradePub.

Click the "Get it for free" button and you'll get the usual TradePub (rather than BDJ) email with an "Open now" button. Click that and your browser will open with a PDF which contains a download link for the free version and, right beneath it, a license code that must be applied before July 20th. The straightforward 2 step directions (nothing unusual there) and their support email are at the bottom of the page after a sales pitch for the Lifetime Free Upgrade. They say the license code provided gives the same functionality as the full product except the upgrades will cost you.

It works, so don't look a gift horse in the mouth. (f you're not familiar with English idioms, look here: http://www.phrases.org.uk...mouth.html).

Constantin Florea We've contacted the vendor and he wrote the following:
"The pdf opens up with a link to the Download Setup File along with a license code to be activated before April 30"

So if you did receive the PDF file, then please open that file because there you will find the registration code along with the installer URL you need to use to download the product.

Why do they need all that?

If offers are only for commercial enterprises, the BdJ page ought to say so up front; if the company doing the give-away doesn't want just-people (and they certainly have every right to have such a restriction) then *say so*!

Eustace Phenackertiban Since they make it impossible for an honest individual to meet their requirements, I just make stuff up. Everything but the email address (which they're fully entitled to) is just fabricated on the spot. All that info is basically so that "TradePub" knows how to target you for free trade publication offers. If you might be interested, just answer the questions for the industry that you're interested in and they'll offer you the pubs (that seems to be how they make their shekel). Otherwise, just make it up.

I feel that we're morally justified because they have made it impossible to fulfill their requirements by just being a human individual.

BTW, download and view the PDF, click the file download link, and use the activation code provided and it works just fine. Nice program, too!

Adam P Tradepub is normally a book company only. Since I get free books from bitsdujour I already had an existing account, so just got signed in with my email address and got the download page. It sent me the email with a link to the download page of the pdf, because I think that site is only setup to do pdf files. In the pdf file there was a serial number and link to the manufacturer's giveaway page for this promo with the the installer for the program. I've got it downloaded but haven't tried installing it yet.

RichU The version from June is 8.9.2. The latest version from October, 2019 appears to be 8.20.0, Although I do not understand the convention, this seems to be a newer version with updates for 2019 DVDs. Hope this helps.
