xCurt quotation from Fine Print: ''Upgrades to future versions of the software will require additional payment. Installing a new version may overwrite the existing version and invalidate your free license key.'' Old but wrong text from a former giveaway, or a wicked surprise?

Bruno Verschraegen Bizarre approach... trial download url for US only... Went having a look on the website and there (http://download.abbyy.com/#Dictionary and Reference Software) one can find a trial download which does not seem to be geographically restricted. It just triggers my curiosity why ABBYY makes available only a US-download link in this promo; I am sure BitsDuJour has many non-US users.

More importantly, the description on the download page states "Requires Internet connection". Is this only during the trial or must the product ALWAYS be used with an active internet connection? If so, it would be appropriate to mention this either in the description or in the features section of this promo.

xCurt no, Bruno, you're mixing this with that. ABBYY Lingvo does not need Internet connection, once you have registered the program (for which you need the Internet...). xxx The USA based trial download is most likely to make sure that you get the English based version, instead of the Russian coded version (which is default to most of ABBYY Lingvo's normal customers).

Craig S. Demo installed and uninstalled after about 20 minutes of fighting to get it to recognize my mouse hovers and key presses for lookups. Never did succeed.

Gary Kriss I couldn't get them to work either. I'd like to get this but not if it's non-functional. Perhaps someone from the company could respond before the deal ends.
