Gerry Humphrey Is this only for new subscriptions or can it be used to extend an existing subscription?

Dave V Not 40% off. Current price on website is 47.99 for 1 year premium. That's 25%. Still a nice discount but the percentage off should be correct as advertised based on currently available. Also available from Amazon for $45; so that seems to be around the typical price.

Adam Dahlen The discount (40%) is off MSRP, which is $59.99.

Kalides User is this licence transferable to my new note book, that i will be upgrading?

Sep 7 2014 at 7:02am Copy Link

Adam Dahlen @Peter - this discount is only for Absolute LoJack for Laptops (Mac or PC). It does not cover the Android version.

@Mappi75 - this deal is for the North American (US and Canada) version. We'll certainly include Global Versions in the future.

@Kalides - Yes, a license is transferable from one PC or Mac to another while the subscription is active.

Peter Dr Thanks for your answer, Adam. Is there a 3-year licence available for Android devices, or are they only year-by-year?

Sep 7 2014 at 7:46am Copy Link

Adam Dahlen Yes, the Android version is available in both premium and standard, 1 year and 3 year. Check out absolutelojack.com for more details.

Peter Dr @Adam: Would you be able to send me the contact information (so as not to take up space on this promotion) with a sales person so that I can sort this out? I am not finding the correct link to see the three-year information -- only the one-year subscription. Thanks.

Kalides User ?can i move the software to a upgraded computer?

Sep 7 2014 at 9:13am Copy Link

Adam Dahlen @peter, for an Android device you'll want the "phone" product. This will work for phones or tablet, as long as they are android.

If you need more help try the support line - absolutelojack.com/support.

@kalides,yes the license is transferred to any other PC.

Peter S What is there to stop somebody from outside north America from actually buying the deal? Like say Australia

I haven't seen anything so far in my searching ....

Sep 7 2014 at 11:58pm Copy Link

Cary Adams Whether this is a "deal" or not depends on how useful this software is... Personally I think that the "LoJack" name trades heavily on its stolen car history, and that there is a huge difference in recovery rates when laptops are the issue.

Here's what I'd like to know...
Of all reported laptop thefts, what percent are recovered within 3 months? Really. What good is it to me that you recover a laptop in 24 months... or 18 months... or even 6 months... by then, I've already purchased a replacement unit.

Another question... What level of file access do users grant to LoJack when they run "protected". Again, my guess is that LoJack has access to all your files... hmmmm...

Why not just encrypt your entire drive, and risk the theft. While I don't want my laptop stolen... if it were... the hardware cost would be the least of my concerns.

I don't see a need for this product, and I believe it trades largely on FUD.

Adam Dahlen @Cary, great questions. The Absolute Investigations team has recovered over 33,000 devices in 108 countries - so they have pretty good track record. While we don't have a standard recovery time - because each case in unique and they all vary so much, we have had recoveries in a matter of hours. Also, we have had cases go cold only to recover the equipment years later. The good news is that with our premium service (which with discount is for) we guarantee our recovery with up to $1000 if the computer is not recovered in 60 days.
