Jeff Coleman I downloaded and installed the application with no problems or errors. I then copied and pasted the Airy for windows (Personal license) . After selecting OK I received this message:" Application code not completed Bad Key". Please help. Problem solved. rebooted system Personal License was then accepted. All is well.

George Butel The program has a nice, simple interface. One hassle is waiting for everything to cancel when you remember that you forgot to select the highest quality to download (unlike MyTube, where you can just leave the setting on "download highest quality.") It is smooth and does the job except for one thing: it deactivates itself. Right when you want to use it, and don't have time to mess around, lo and behold, it thought I was using a trial version and had exceeded the two free downloads--although I'd used it dozens of times. I cannot put up with that kind of hassle.

I have a lot of software, some of it very expensive. The amazing thing about most companies is that they don't make a nightmare out of activation. I've upgraded from Win7 to Win8 to Win8.1 and even to Win10 on this computer (although I reverted from 10 back to 8.1) without a peep from Sony's SoundForge, for instance, or out of most of my software, even Adobe's. Revo Pro didn't complain. CCleaner Pro didn't complain. SuperAntiSpyware Pro didn't complain: most programs don't cause hassles due to normal changes in our hardware or software (like an OS upgrade.) I even replaced the SSD (and did so after putting an older image of my system on the new SSD), and only had trouble with a few programs.

With Airy, the first error is, "Software re-activation failed. (BAD_HID) BA
Usually it goes through in the background, but it was unsuccessful this time. Please try to re-activate Airy manually, make sure you are connected to Internet, your activation code is legally obtained, and you are not exceeding the number of possible activations for it." Then, of course, it "couldn't obtain activation parameters from server." After going into the program, and trying to reactivate it manually, I got the message, "Activation code is already used on another computer. Do you want to update your hardware information?" Trying to do that means going to Eltima's website--"If you have changed your computer and would like to use your licensed software on a new machine, just send us your Activation Code and we will reset information about your old computer. Please remember that the number of attempts for this action is limited."

The problem here is that this is the identical machine. I haven't had Airy that long, and there have been no hardware changes of any kind. I did upgrade to Win10 for a while, but I can't remember if I had to re-activate Airy after I did that or not; I don't use it that much. But I'm going to put that Win10 image back on this machine in a while, and run Win10 for a while, see if it's any better, and I'll probably end up putting an 8.1 Macrium Reflect image back on this machine. I suspect that Airy will deactivate itself every time I do that. Of course, there may be some other issue I don't know about.

I understand the paranoia that software developers must be living in: they think that you and I are standing on street-corners at night, giving their software away, and installing it for free on dozens of other computers every day. To prevent that, they make activation a nightmare. Why not just use a hardware key?

As I've said, most companies don't cause problems. Why does Airy? Why do Magix and Xara? Some of my favorite companies, like MindGems and SaltyBrine, make it a nightmare: you have to email them and explain the situation to get them to add to their activation limit, which they're nice about doing, but I'd rather have something like a license key file or something similar to save me the trouble.

Instead of getting them to reactivate the program, I'll just use Revo Pro to uninstall it completely, and monitor this site to see if Eltima improves their product. I'd like to use the program: it's handier than some of the others. But I have enough software hassles already without another one.

"BAD_HID" error can occur when Airy is not able to connect to our server and perform a periodic license validation. Airy may be occasionally reactivated in the background to ensure smooth and uninterrupted license compliance check. This will require Internet connection as well. If there is no access to the Internet available on your PC/Mac, you can reactivate Airy manually (offline). Follow the instructions here: http://wiki.eltima.com/us...ation.html

The new version of the operating system always changes the hardware ID of your machine which is linked to the activation code that is why you have to reset your previous activation and update your computer information.

George Butel Does the program "see"virtual hardware changes to the computer as making it into a "new computer"? One of the Applian Replay programs that I may have installed or reinstalled recently creates a virtual digital video recorder (it uses a Jaksta Technologies driver.) It doesn't show up in the device manager as a software device. If it's part of whatever data your computer includes in the signature algorithm, then Airy may think it's a new computer just from that "new" "hardware.'

But from what you say, I can't do what I was planning to do, because if I either reinstall Win10 again as an upgrade or put the Win10 image I made a month ago back onto this computer, Airy will do a license check, and whatever it tells your server will be that this computer is really a different one.

The most convenient online downloader I've used was ClipGrab, which gets flagged by AV programs because of its opencandy component. There is a version without adware, though.

None of these programs is perfect. MyTube is eternally deciding that a video "no longer exists" or else is "inappropriate," whatever that means, so I then have to use something else. I have never been able to get the Applian Video Capture to work properly, and its Media Capture, which is analogous to Airy and MyTube, is temperamental. Sometimes it will only download 0 byte files which it thinks it's completed "with errors."

I don't know what it is, but some videos are downloadable with one program but not the other. Some videos won't download with anything, it seems.

Currently, Airy does not download age-restricted videos from channels like Vevo. Also, videos marked as deleted cannot be downloaded as well. Such videos will be skipped, and you will get the corresponding message.

Doris Ballard Those of you who are disappointed with the 6 month free - then "pay up to continue" (I won't download those, either) should know that FlashPeak Slimjet, a chromium-type browser, lets you download from YouTube as a matter of course. I've been using it for years now. I go between Chromium, FireFox, and Slimjet, according to what I'm doing at the moment.

Bjondc @Julia Rixon -- I can't send a screenshot because I already installed/activated the s/w.
That warning indicates that there is *something* about the file that Win10 thinks might be...trouble...but I don't know what it is finding objectionable. My other anti-virus/anti-malware s/w didn't have a problem with it.
I haven't had a chance to try it out.

Probably, the problem is given by the SHA1 certification method for the digital signature.
SHA1 is deprecated, or it will be soon.
It should be substituted with SHA2.

Noggin The Nog Does this application enable you to download in a file format or definition that would not otherwise be available? For example, as .mp4 when only .flv would otherwise be available to download? If so, does it achieve this by converting?

Toni User Never got registration code, tried two requests for resend – nada. That experience added to the reports here, it looks like Airy is not worth the hassle.
