Judi Podgurski I just have to say, that I find this Aiseesoft converter just WONDERFUL !!! I did have a free version from somewhere, but lost it, and am SO happy to have it again today ! It does exactly what you want or need it to do, and the learning curve is small. Quick, easy, and works every time. A person can install and run the program without having to read a manual, and I just LOVE that. If I had to purchase a converter, it would certainly be from Aiseesoft, and no one else. I make small animations on a program that only saves to .avi, and with this program, I can turn them into mp4's in a flash, and be able to upload them to Photobucket. FANTASTIC software ! Thank you for being so GREAT ! Jpod

Greg C Will this retain subtitles when converting from MKV to another format? Do we have any control over subtitles?

Peter Bruce Hi and thanks for the offer but why would I need this when I already have "Aiseesoft Total Media Converter Platinum"?

Thanks again - cableuserau.

Aiseesoft Dear Greg C,
Thank you for your feedback. When you add MKV files with multi-subtitles, you can choose one of the subtitles to convert.

Chris Deal-breaker, even for free:

After you purchase Aiseesoft MP4 Video Converter it may be used for 12 months and will not function after that unless you renew your subscription

Funny how it says that in the Fine Print and then says this also:

Upgrades to future versions of the software will be free for the lifetime of the product.

David Stodel Have just downloaded the .exe file and tried to install. File does not respond when clicking on it !! What gives ??

jordan cooper This is actually the 1 year version of the product, worth $29. The lifetime version costs $42 and it is not offered here. Please change the fine print accordingly.

Chris I noticed they changed the fine print from Upgrades for lifetime to:

Upgrades to future versions of the software will be free for current subscriptions.

And no one even replied to tell us they updated it. Another reason this is a bad deal.

ds3303 Another pathetic example of the industry's push to a you-never-really-own-it subscription model.Barely tolerable on software that actually needs constant updating, such as antivirus or dvd rippers. No reason I can see for a program like this to not be a straight out purchase. I won't waste the HD space on something I'm just going to have to uninstall later on. Plenty of freeware that does all this one does and more. Thanks for the offer, bdj, but I'll pass on this one.

Terry Lee I will not need this kind of version of one year, and so I will not waste my time to this one at all!

Steve Smith The email that I received states: "You can install/register the software at any time. Upgrades to future versions of the software will be free for the lifetime of the product." It doesn't sound like a 1 year license to me!

K James Forget it.

(1) Ridiculous "subscription" version, when there are already free options out there for this kind of program.
(2) After purchasing, I received NO email, and the download link on the purchased page did nothing at all. So no program, and not registration code.
(3) When trying to purchase again, I received an error that said I had already purchased the software, offering me a link to receive a new email. Once again, I received no email. And, yes, I checked my spam folder.

I have used Aiseesoft programs before and liked them, but I'm done trying with this one. Too bad. You have definitely lost a star or two in your reputation with me.

K James My bad.

I received the original email message more than half an hour after ordering the software. This usually only takes a few minutes. The link to download that was in the email worked immediately with no problems. So maybe bitdujour's link was faulty?

I will test this program out and see how it works compared with the free software out there. I usually -- for most websites like YouTube, use the Firefox add-on DownloadHelper, which usually works flawlessly both in saving simple SWF files as well as ALSO offering the opportunity to save perfect MP4 versions.. It does nto work on every site i have tried, however, so I'll see if Aiseesoft's program is better than the various free options I have to separately convert and crop, etc videos I already have.

Thanks for the opportunityt to try it out for a year, and I apologize for my lack of patience for the email. I'll probably get the second email in another half hour!
