Ricky Rick @ Allavsoft

Does this software have Open Candy or any type of "Phone Home" programmed into it for marketing and or other purposes?

Is it free from all kinds of hidden stuff that some software companies/developers install on people's PCs along with their program without the recipients knowledge?

Thanks,
Ricky Rick

xilolee Hi everybody. :-)

This is an excellent software!
I already downloaded, installed and used it for free from another website.

Things that can be improved:
- make it portable
- show the changelog on your website (I have the previous version and I don't know what is changed)
- show your real address information on your website (this improves users' confidence in you)

Bill User I finally was able to download a software completely, but did have to buy a good
internet download manager first, one that I had to pay for I purchased internet download manager, even any of the free download managers wouldn't work, plus right now it is not running through my Chrome Browser yet. I'm almost afraid to run it through the browser as it works the way it is and I am hoping that it won't change once it is put through my Browser but if it does cause me problems then, I will put it back where it isn't I will have to see but it downloaded it great and fast also and never stopped that first time like all the others did. Thank you, Now I wish I could go back and get the Wonderfox HD converter that I tried so hard to download but never could. is there any way that I could be able to download and register it?

DAVID, You can go to Options / Preferences / General tab, to specify where downloads go. I tell all my programs to download to a folder that I created previously C:\DOWNLOADS
If you create such a folder OR whether you stay with the default (in that Options / Preferences / General tab), you will find that this program creates another child folder called 'Download'
That is where it stores your downloaded videos.

Robert Crombie Apologies, I often download copies of the author's site's web pages, and usually download their 'Trial' at the same time.
I must have installed the 'Trial' from the AllavSoft web site ( 3.17.5.7090 ). That is why I got the latest version, as Free Ride picked up on).

Anyone having problems with downloading YouTube videos ?
It (AllavSoft) keeps asking for me to sign in to YouTube
(It is an Allavsoft dialog where we are asked to enter username and password).
I did a little digging, and you will find that AllavSoft has a option/setting for Default password. However I could not find a way to change/insert a new sign in.
I am unsure whether this is a YouTube problem, or an AllavSoft problem ?

Dylan I purchased the lifetime version for 2 comps last time it was on sale. It works very well, albeit slower than some other programs I have used. I appreciate the fact that the company offer very prompt updates. It is a very good value for this type of program. There are many good free programs that do the same thing but limit the number of downloads at one time or have other restrictions. And to purchase the full version of these "free" programs is much more costly than Allavsoft.

I'm unable to download from YouTube as well. Unlike you, I'm not asked to sign in. After clicking on the 'download' button, Allavsoft shows 'downloading' but just hangs at 0%. It downloads fine from other web sites.

Mr Dave I got this on June 5 from BitsDuJour and it worked for a day or two before YouTube changed something again and prevented anything I tried from downloading. I don't know if today's offering is newer, or if it addresses that. Allavsoft was nice while it lasted so I'll try again.

Comments say it no longer supports browser integration -- I quite happy with that. All I had to do before was press Ctrl-L (highlights address bar), Ctrl-C (copies it), Alt-Tab (switches to Allavsoft), drag the mouse over the URL line in Allavsoft and click download. Very quick, and no browser add-on (and the security risk that goes with them).

geo User @David User I have to agree with @E Junkie
I would like to purchase but I would like to see how is the software maintained.
Such programs become quickly obsolete due to the fact that the video websites
keep changing their distribution technic in order to maintain traffic to the actual web site by the user, something that this software circumvents,
Youtube lives off your clicks!
Jul 5 2019 at 12:14pm Copy Link
0
Mr Dave Youtube gets my clicks, I need to get to the video first in order to grab the URL. I like Youtube and use it a LOT but have trouble watching videos without stuttering, and for quitar (and other instrument) lesson videos, I use software on my PC to slow them down without changing pitch. Also videos on Youtube are not permanent, so I might download something I will want to watch again later.

geo User @David User Also, the THE FINE PRINT indicates:

Upgrades to future versions of the software will require additional payment. Installing a new version may overwrite the existing version and invalidate your license key.

Can you clarify this for the $18 LIFETIME UPGRADE offer?

Is everything else in the THE FINE PRINT accurate?

And a question specific to usage:

I have used the trial before and noticed that sometimes even though the settings are set to load a video at the best (highest resolution)
the software will download for some videos in the download queue in the lowest
resolution eg: 240p even though 480p and 720p is also available.

Any idea why this would happen sometimes?
Using other tools will allow to get the 720p video, so it is not web site restriction.

Any thoughts?

Has anyone used this software for say more than a year reliably?

Thanks

Michael Reason I have downloaded and installed Allavasoft. When I download a video from BBC iPlayer I get only 540P at Best Quality setting and the downloaded file has sound but no video.

Is this a know issue or an I doing something incorrectly?

Portable meaning, that it doesn't install/modify anything else outside the application's executable folder location (and registry). In stead of saving settings in the registry, save within the applications folder?

Loyal Customer Installation and registration went OK, but ...
Upon update, Avast blocked this app:

Avast's message: "Threat blocked. We've blocked allavsoft.exe because it was infected with FileRepMalware."

I'm not a computer novice, so I give Avast the benefit of the doubt. It has protected me for many years.

This app has now been uninstalled with Revo uninstalled to remove any and all traces of it.
It could be a false positive, but I'm not gambling with it.

D J I encountered the same thing as user LOYAL CUSTOMER. I reported the update as a False Postive to Avast and forwarded the update file to Avast for futher analysis. The BDJ download was clean and passed a Virus Total scan without any issues.

Vashta @Loyal Customer,

Anti Virus is wrong and is false positive.

If you go to https://www.virustotal.co...ome/upload and then upload the file it was pass safely.

Here are results I just did https://www.virustotal.co.../detection File is totally clean.

Unless you downloaded from a bad source and not from here or the dev's site.

Loyal Customer @Vashta,
You must have misread what I said.
First, I am not a novice, again, and I do not download from arbitrary sites.
To repeat, the download from BDJ installed and registered without issues.

Upon running the program, I clicked on check for update, and it informed me there was an update, which I let it do it.

Downloading and running the update was internal to the program (automatic), so I didn't have to download it myself.

Once it finished downloading, the update program ran automatically, that is when Avast stopped it immediately, as I had mentioned.
So we are talking apples and oranges.

Even if it is a false positive, as I indicated originally, I'd rather be on the safe side.
Kindly let the developer answer my concerns. They may have some explanation to do, or discuss their program with Avast if it is clean.

Stephen Brown This is my favorite application for converting You Tube vids to MP3's. Now I can recover all those albums I used to own that were stolen while I was living in Student accommodation back in the late 80's.

Easy to use and loads of options for converting into various sound and video files. A massive thumbs up from me.

It sounds like your AV is blocking it from working as I have no problems.
Check your av logs and see if it is being blocked or even your firewall settings.

But I will add the software does seem to take 15-30 seconds before it does start to download videos added. Unlike other versions that started faster.

disenchanted Questions on the Lifetime license for $18.00

Normally the 100% off deals require you to install on the same day as the sale.
(I've heard).

If your hard drive crashes, (I've also heard that) you can't reinstall it.
Since the 100% Discount offers use a license key with Special restrictions.
(for being a 100% Discount offer).

1. is there a different, special downloadable .EXE file, or ZIP file, for the
Lifetime License purchasers?

2. Is a Lifetime Licensenusername/registration name created, to use for:
- installing updates
- reinstalling due to an HDD crash

Just curious how upgrades to Lifetime Licenses work.

Richard User Hit the features button on this site, Read that.
Then the "The Fine Print" button. Read that.

After you get the program, that confirmation email says,

"Make sure to input the registration info exactly as it is shown below
You can install/register the software at any time."

The only question left seems to be about the PAID version.

The free version is permanently stuck on this version.
If you upgrade a free version, it cancels your license.

Serious Noize Just wanted to say, this is not just a download some videos software. It is much more than that, it can convert your videos and audio to other formats and it also has options to record things from your screen if you want to do so. I am running WIndows 10 latest version on my PC and it works great for me.

Also a tip : You can always go into the folder where it was installed and create a shortcut to add to your desktop/start menu/taskbar with the RECORD .exe file and use it as an on demand option.

Thanks for the promo giveaway!

In other words if it needs to update in a couple of weeks to be able to still download from Youtube after the install I would not get the update with the free version. If you buy 2 lifetime update license, you will get 2 separate keys.

Portable meaning, that it doesn't install/modify anything else outside the application's executable folder location (and registry). In stead of saving settings in the registry, save within the applications folder?

Thank you.

Loyal Customer It is sad that in this day and age we still have some software that triggers antivirus programs.
AVAST absolutely hates this program, and will not allow it to run.
I'll leave it sitting in the virus chest for now until I clear the chest.

Of course, it might be a false trigger, but I have trusted AVAST for well over a decade. It has protected all my desktops and laptops over these years.

If AllAVSoft cannot make a program safe enough for the security programs, I'd rather not install it or recommend it, or tell AVAST that it is a false positive.
Thanks for the offer, anyway.

Loyal Customer @ David User,
Is it my job to contact AVAST to certify your software as safe?
How do I know, or supposed to know, that it is safe???

I think YOU need to work with AVAST and any other security companies so they can test and clear your product and consider it safe.

I understand all about false positives, and I indicated that in my initial comment.
Any software package that triggers the security software is not safe for me to install.
Those were the days of Windows 95 and Windows 98 when false positives were common, not these days, not in the age of Windows 10.
Thank you anyway.

William W. User Just for information (draw your own conclusions!):
When I attempted to install, AVG Antivirus reported that it had quarantined allavsoft.exe (i.e. the installer, not the program executable) because the file was infected with "FileRepMalware".
The developer may be right when he claims that the program executable is clean, but the installer apparently6 is not.
AVG of course did not check the executable, because the installer was quarantined before it could produce that file.
When I get around to it, I may try to check the exectable.

Regarding your prmpt reaction to my earlier post, in which I reported that AVG had found malware in the installer of Allavsoft's Video Downloader (i.e. allavsoft.exe): I did not write, nor did I imply. that the malware had been found in the program's executable.
I have no reason to think that AVG was wrong in its finding; I trust them.
I am quite wiling to assume, or even believe, that the program's executable is clean.
At the same time, however, I think the installer should ber clean too, and not be able to wreak any havoc.
I repeat that I have written nothing disparaging about the program's executable, and I would be grateful if you would consider what I wrote, not what I did not write.
I installed and ran the program -- it appears to be excellent.
Thank you for making it available.
Best regards.

Here is what worked for me. Using Chrome.
After it did not start the D/L, I LEFT clicked on the advise to

Again, NOTHING...
I right clicked (second one above) instead and opened link in a new window.
It/THAT opened a blank page, AND D/L came right away with that action.
FWIW, This has been a problem for quite awhile...

IMHO: It is in the link BDJ gives. It "forces" some sort of referral type

Right click that in Chrome and click save link.

In my Chrome, I then had to tell Chrome to "keep" it.

I get tired of having to jump through hoops (except the last Chrome one
about keeping it) for most if not all BDJ D/Ls. OTHER sites figured out
a "normal" way to handle D/Ls with Chrome.
(And NO, I will not lower my security or switch browsers.......)

Vipin User Ok, I need to comment here for all the people who are trying to buy it. The software worked flawlessly before, but then the video makers get the idea, and they are now using new technologies, which Allavsoft has never been able to resolve. I tried it for YT videos, Vimeo videos, sites like Pluralsite and few other MOOC which I am enrolled in. Whenever I tried asking them for any solution to download those video files, pat came the reply that they were not able to find a solution. I had tried sending them log files, URLs from where I am trying to download the files, and even the Username/Password for the site which I am a member of for them to analyze the issue; without any success. I am a lifetime licensee of the software, and is now stuck with something which is of no use to me! :(

Ian F As a registered user I have found Allavsoft very capable of downloading most videos. It's not their fault if websites make it more and more difficult. It does, for example, download Brighteon videos.

Sometimes I have been very surprised that it could pick out the video from a website link that I pasted and then successfully download it.

Hi, BDJ seems to have got into Microsoft's bad books lately. I normally try at least 2 or 3 offers each week but (for the last 6 weeks, or so) 90% have failed to pass Microsoft's Security Defender which has now been made integral with Windows 10. However, if you search, there is a way to disarm it. Unfortunately, it's back again when you reboot! Sorry, at my advanced years I can't remember the precise steps I took last time I did it. If it helps, I found an item in Windows FAQs by just asking for it.

Raymond Callan If you have to pay for updates for the software, it is useless because updates are necessary for a download software such as this to function due to the restrictions sites such as YouTube place on them. The updates patch the software in order for it to work again.

I've tried this app before & it constantly needed updates in order for it to work properly & download.

Raymond Callan Stick with either YTD Video Downloader or YeetDL, both offered here on BdJ on occasion. Both are MUCH better than Allavsoft which often fails to download YouTube videos after a while. I trialed their software when it was offered awhile ago & uninstalled it - seems they don't upgrade the software enough when sites like YT try to prevent video downloads, unlike the two apps i recommended!

Software Seeker Wow, based on older comments I've just bought the software. It works like a charm. Much faster than the Firefox extensions I used to use for YouTube (which are now defunct anyway). The only thing that had me was that what looked like the audio download stopped at some stage and I thought, well, that was a waste of money... However, it turned out that the program was merging video and audio files at the time, it just didn't tell me. Let's hope the program is going to live for a while... Had bought lifetime updates before, only that the programs died long before me, haha...

However, I went ahead and downloaded the installer, copied the exe file that was inside the zip file, then scanned it for malware with Malwarebytes Pro, and it was said to be safe.

If it is reported as Malware. Please contact your anti virus software to let them manually test our product.

anti virus software. After some time, when it is not newly updated, the report will automatically disappear.

Cooler Not only does it ask "license code" (which I have), but also "license name", which I don't have! The code received via e-mail is not enough to register the software.

Perhaps the registration scheme was changed or wrong version was offered? Now the software is running only as trial version. Fix, please.

It should say this (whether it is Windows or Mac) toward the top of the receipt email with a higher font size. If it says Mac it means you participated in the Mac deal so if you want a Windows code you would have to participate again by choosing the Windows deal (purchase option).

Visitor-2014 Allavsoft is in general a fine peace of software. But having it installed on my computer already a long time I use it only rarely because of an annoying bug that still is not fixed (as I saw now after updating to the latest version 3.27.5.9039):

Whenever starting the program, Allavsoft makes Windows install an additional keyboard layout which I do not need. So I have to uninstall it manually every time when I use Allavsoft! I think in the past it was an English keyboard layout, now it is (since a longer time already) an additional German keyboard to the one I use. It is definitely a problem caused by your software. I had also experienced this problem with other software too (not concerning video downloads) but they were willing and able to fix the issue. Developers at Allavsoft: Please try to do the same. - Thanks in advance.

E LOMBARDI I regularly used the free version for months and found it works very well. Once in great awhile, I found videos that I could not download on youtube but discovered that right clicking on the video and copying the video address using the drop down menu INSTEAD of copying the webpage address (URL) (http://www.youtube...etc) works well. It cannot perform downloads from "paid subscription" websites but playing the video (or desired parts of the video) on your screen and using the "screen recording" feature works very well. You can also convert the video to HD AND you can "INCREASE THE VOLUME" on videos (or music) when using the convert feature... I'm pleased with the PAID VERSION because It gives you free "LIFETIME UPGRADES" TOO !! AND IT IS A "LIFETIME USE" NOT an annual subscription... HIGHLY RECOMMEND paid version if you regularly find videos (music etc.) you would like to save. Double check the lifetime upgrades are still being offered. NOTE: To save you some learning curve... click the "OPTIONS" to select where you want to save your download (or screen recording) AND another line under the "OPTIONS" menu to "name" your video... it will add a date to your file name unless you delete the existing pre-set file name prefix in the box for the file name. Advise setting up "MASTER FOLDER" ie; "DOWNLOADED VIDEOS AUDIOS", and create different foldters within the "DOWNLOADED VIDEOS AUDIOS" file folder. GREAT PURCHASE... GREAT FOR FREE !

Edward Pritchard Jr I have been using this program to down load video's and it work really good on most sites, and not good on others. Where it will not down load and it tell me to record it with the screen cation option.

When I do that for some reason it does not align properly and cuts off part of the screen. So I have to record the whole screen and leave it in the small screen, so that I can see the whole movie or training that I am recording.

Is this version better ? or will it do the same thing ?

Thank you for your help

HKP If it is not possible to download from a website, the program suggests clicking on the red "REC"-button. Instead of a download, a recording is then made in real time of what the graphics card and sound card play. This not only has the disadvantage that the recording takes as long as the video. Nothing else may be done on the computer during this time. However, the biggest disadvantage only becomes visible when you look at the result: The controls are included! This has already been criticized on other platforms such as Giveaway of the Day. But the developer is not interested.

The newer Windows versions already contain something better than Allavsoft offers with its recording option via “REC”-button. If no download is possible, it is therefore better to use the recording option already included in Windows. The controls are visible during recording, but not on the video you have made. That's exactly how it should be!

Robert Crombie Great program.
Normally much more expensive than the $18 offer above.
If you grab the free offer, you will find that download sites change their whatevers to prevent us downloading.
If in a few months that happens, the free version of this giveaway will be unable to download from that site.
Thus I recommend you grab the $18 offer today.

Visitor-2014 In general the program works fine but as criticized above by another user too, it seems that the developers are not interested in fixing some issues (and not even in participating here at BDJ). I have reported here already two (or even three) times a certain issue (in short: "Whenever starting the program, Allavsoft makes Windows install an additional keyboard layout which I do not need."). No reaction or fixing by the developers! - So I gave up to use Allavsoft and I simply use another software of this type (also offered periodically here at BDJ). It works fine too and does not cause such a problem.

E LOMBARDI I've used this for about 2 years and purchased the lifetime version that includes updated. Keep in mind that at times a video may not download SO instead of copying the video URL (website link in the box at the top of the page); FIRST I play the video to skip any ads that might be playing BEFORE GOING TO NEXT STEP and after the ad stops, I place the cursor (pointer) on top of the video screen and then RIGHT CLICK (then menu drops down); Next select COPY VIDEO URL do NOT select copy video URL at current point of time.
You can record the video on-screen using the software but you may have to practice a bit. BE SURE to use the "OPTIONS" IN THE MENU to select a folder to save your videos AND give a name to your videos. I use a GENERAL FOLDER NAME "DOWNLOADED VIDEOS" and create sub-folders such as EDUCATION, MUSIC VIDEOS, NEWS, POLITICS, ENTERTAINMENT, ACCOUNTING, CONSTRUCTION etc. and one called "REVIEW THSE" and one Called "TEMP VIDEOS". When doing a "screen recording" off your computer screen instead of downloading (ie from "paid subscibtion sites" or live online classes or zoom calls or just regular videos) be careful to press the correct button to EITHER TEMPORARYILY STOP RECORDING OR PERMANENTLY END RECORDING (Sorry don't remember spicifically how to explain how off the top of my head because I don't use the screen record feature very often. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND PURCHASING AFTER YOU TRY IT. YOU CAN ALSO convert the video to a higher resolution AND/OR increase the VOLUME of the video when the sound or voices are not very loud... Also recommend getting a (thumb) USB Flash drive and converting the downloaded videos to MP3, MP4 OR other formats onto the USB drive so you can play them in you car if your radio iis equipped with a USB port to play music from a flash drive.

Have you installed any anti virus software which may prevent downloading?
Please firstly turn off your anti virus software to test it again or have Allavsoft in the authorized section of the anti-virus.
Please check if there is enough space on your computer especially on that output location.
Please do not set your external hard drive as output location.
Please click Option Menu -> Preference... -> General - Browse to set your hard drive as the output location.
If there is no enough space, please move the download files to other places.
If you can watch the video online without log in, there is no need to enter the log in information.
If it pops up the log in window, you may enter a ramdom email address and password in the User name option and User Passwork option.

anonny User It's not XP and Vista compatible unless you download the latest XP compatible yt-dlp.exe from the projects github repository as David User for some reason refuses to bundle it in with the installation. I tried posting a comment with the link to the latest build of the XP and Vista and compatible with windows 7 to 11 too but the comments system here blocks comments with links in them so it never went public. lets try it without the protocol part github.com/nicolaasjan/yt-dlp/releases/ and go to latest release and click show all and then choose the first XP base one, not the onedir zip version.

anonny User This program in it's default state does NOT support XP and Vista... it needs custom compatible downloader modules built to support XP and Visa as required from 3rd party open source developers. The developer has chosen to NOT include the compatible modules in the default installer.

Sandra User I have used 4 different browsers asking to resend the email for the licence code, several times on each over the last hour, and nothing has arrived.

I did have an earlier version fully licensed that I often use but the code for that does not work for this version and, as the code does not appear to be arriving, I am stuck with the limitations of the trial version.

Is there someway to get the license code please.

Thank you, Sandra

Peter First But the problem is still there.
I have tried to get the registration code (using two different browsers) and the resend button a number of times.
BUT NOTHING HAPPENS and no email is received in either the inbox or Junk mail box!
Now the older version I had working has been replaced, and all I have is a Trial version

Constantin Florea @F User, We still have the issue with the email sending service. That is why we have to send the registration information manually.

Constantin Florea @jacques s., I just resent you the receipt email at your @yahoo.com account. I see we sent it to you previously at the same email address. If you did not receive it this second time, please contact us at notify@bitsdujour.com using another email address where we could send you the registration information because if we send it to you a third time at the same email address, chances are you will not receive it.

anonny User This version IS NOT VISTA OR XP COMPATIBLE as the included builds of youtube_dl and yt-dlp_x86.exe are either not current or not compatible with XP and VIsta... it is possible to source compatible and current versions of these 3rd party downloader files from developers that have chosen to support the older versions of windows where the 3rd party developers used by allavsoft do not support XP or vista or windows 7 in some cases.

Constantin Florea @Chris User, I see you only participated in the promotion by getting the registration information for the Mac version. I checked your Purchases page:
https://www.bitsdujour.co.../purchases
and I see that every previous time when you participated in this giveaway (for Allavsoft) you participated to get the registration information for the Windows version. This suggests that this time as well you need the Windows registration key not the Mac registration key.

If you do indeed need to register the Windows version of the application then you can get the Windows key by participating in the promotion again this time selecting the Windows purchase option.

It will not work trying to register the Windows version using the Mac key or to register the Mac version using a Windows key.

Constantin Florea @Seven User, I just checked your Purchases page and I see you did participate in the promotion by ordering the Mac version.

If you need the Windows version, you can still participate in the promotion by following the same purchase flow (as you did when you ordered the Mac version) but this time selecting the Windows version in the page where you can select between the two versions. The promotion is still running today.
